How is Mission of Burma? I've heard their name mentioned for eons, but have never given them a chance. Are they the shiz?

Actually it was the camping in Ohio that did it to me. (Allowed to have kegs in a waterslide park? WTF?)

Mission of Burma is BADASS!!! I lent my copy of "Our Band Could Be Your Life" to a friend, and he got some. Been listening to a burn for awhile--kind of the best elements of Minutemen and Husker Du. Cool garage type of feel, slightly mellowed punk. Cool shit.

I'm not exactly sure why the Marc Cohn song is in my head, I must have heard it on the radio earlier. The Dylan song has been in my head ever since James' thread, the other three I have been listening to in my car lately:

"Like A Rolling Stone" - Bob Dylan
"Alice Childress" - Ben Folds Five
"Flight Of The Cosmic Hippo" - Bela Fleck & The Flecktones
"Walking In Memphis" - Marc Cohn
"Walkin'" - Widespread Panic

We Belong Together - Rickie Lee Jones
Below Beloved - Aleka's Attic
Chiquitita - ABBA
Mama I'm Coming Home - Ozzy Osbourne
Note To A Friend - Aleka's Attic

I just stumbled on Aleka's Attic the other day. I was the band River and Rain Phoenix played in. Good early alt.

Yeah, Hard Candy is the new Counting Crows CD, first since This Desert Life. I this band because they take long breaks between albums so they come out really good. Vanessa Carlton is collaborating on it too.

Didn't they have an album after TDL? I think that was called, Searching For Sattalites? It might have just been a live collection. I'm definetly going to buy (or burn) hard candy. A&EA is still my fav by them, even though TDL was awesome.

Nothing to be ashamed of. That's a frequently overlooked album that's dismissed as candy, but it's sheer genius. Either that, or I also have the gay. Best Iron Man cover EVER.

Also that blackalicious song is like pure crack. It would be on all of my lists here if I didn't exclude it to avoid redundancy.

You're quite welcome. Seek out 'Giant Steps' if you can; it's not as tight an album as 'Wake up, Kids!', but it's more of an aural treat, and tracks like "Wish I Was Skinny", "Upon 9th and Fairchild" and "Best Lose the Fear" stand out as pure gold. Too bad they suck horribly now; they were such a gifted band in '93.

He was disturbingly talented and wanted to be a musician more than he wanted to be a serial killer. Hence the hanging out with Brian Wilson. Got one of his discs from a friend and I've listened to it on an off for almost a year. There's some pretty good stuff there, though his lyrics tend to ramble.

Damn, I've got that damn Eminem song stuck in my head.

I'm sorry momma, I didn't mean to hurt you, I didn't mean to make you cry, but tonight I'm hanging out my closet( or something)

Also got that System of a Down song stuck in my head. Aerials I think it is. You've gotta admit, that guy has an interesting voice.

Radio... live transmission.
Radio... live transmission.

Listen to the silence, let it ring on.
Eyes, dark grey lenses frightened of the sun.
We would have a fine time living in the night,
Left to blind destruction,
Waiting for our siiiiiiiii-iiiiiiiiight........

And we would go on as though nothing was wrong.
And hide from these days we remained all alone.
Staying in the same place, just staying out the time.
Touching from a distance,
Further all the time.

Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.

WELL I COULD CALL OUT WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH.
THE THINGS THAT WE'VE LEARNT ARE NO LONGER ENOUGH.
NO LANGUAGE JUST SOUND IS ALL WE KNOW, TO SYNCHORNISE LOVE TO THE BEAT OF THE SHOW.

AND WE COULD DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANCE

Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to the radio.

"Transmission" by Joy Division. Why the unnecessary addition of the lyrics? I don't know, the song gets me pumped.

Just listened to 1979, Smashing Pumpkins, for the first time in a long time. That song can get you through your toughest time in your life. Especially if you've seen the video. I mean, nothing really matters. Whoa, another great song by another band: Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen.

How can you fight the timeless melody? Melodramatic, sure, but damn it sticks in my head.

That whole album is one of their least impressive, IMO. It's hard to beat Tigermilk and If You're Feeling Sinister.

actually i'm listening to the rolling stones right now, the Beggar's Banquet album. it's cool how they remastered all of their albums and put them in nifty digipacks, i wish a certain other band would do that, although that would mean buying all their albums over again. oh well.
