Thought this might be an interesting idea for a thread.
I can't deny the awesomeness of Pavement, but I have to say Silver Jews.

not much of a contest. pavement. two perfect albums to one. the rest of their catalogue is stronger than the rest of the jews' catalogue too.

Both are great bands, but Pavement easily win this.

Pavement gets my vote.
Haven't heard much from Silver Jews.

jewz. Far better lyrics and music. i also have no emotional attachment to pavement. i find the silver jews to be extremely uplifting.

pavement. i love american water as much as the next guy and the new album blew me away but certain parts of the other records are just zzz

american water is marginally better than 3 other silver jews records that are nearly perfect

I think I'll go with silver jews, mostly for berman's lyrics. they're both really fantastic bands though, and neither has recorded a bad album.
Yeah, Berman is probably my favourite lyricist.
I've never really got into Pavement that much, though I only have Slanted & Enchanted

you guys sure know how to take two interesting bands and make it into one boring thread

maybe you want to listen to crooked rain before you pass judgment then.
or "the natural bridge" if you think berman's never made a sub-par album.

I think Natural Bridge is just as good as AW to be honest. no way is it sub-par

I definitely wouldn't go as far as saying natural bridge is as good as american water, but even as their weakest it's still a good record. dallas is one of my favorite silver jews tracks.

is it bad that i don't know what song that's from? truthfully, all of the lyrics from both bands get mixed up in my head until i actually listen to the song.

overall I guess I'd say pavement but I like american water better than any pavement album. I got into pavement kinda late so I don't feel much of an attachment to having crooked rain being the best thing ever or anything.
