Thoughts?
It's got some moments of pure Weezer bliss (tracks 1, 2, 5, 6) along with perhaps some of the worst music I've heard in awhile (track 8).
It's got the other guys singing some songs, which frankly I don't care for.
Overall, it's awesome moments triumph over the low points, and I'm just glad to finally have some new Weezer to listen to.

Never been a big Weezer fan, I've heard their music throughout my life and its been good with moments of wishing I was in Beverly Hills(bad). I downloaded the new album since it was a free leech week on libble.com, listened to it twice and wrote it off as awful. Doubt I'll ever listen to it under my own will again.
Pork and Beans is a pretty great song.
Actually downloading the album as I type.

I don't like much after the first two albums. I think the last album sucked, and the one before it had maybe 3 decent songs on it. I think this is the best album since the 2001 album, because it's the first one since then that actually has some songs I would actually call "good" and can listen to and enjoy many times. Only three, though: "Pork and Beans", "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" (both silly, but cute) and the last one which is probably the best serious song they've done since the last track of their 2001 album. Pity it runs out of gas, though. The last two minutes are basically nothing.

heard it for the first and only time yesterday
can someone edit out all the vocals, maybe keep the oohs in? cause that would make for an infinitely better listen

I bought it Tuesday, not all bad, but certainly not a return to form. possibly on par with the green album, though, which I was thought was a little underrated. Basically, the highs are really high, but the lows are pretty pathetic. "Thought I Knew" and "Cold dark world" are sorta catchy, but way too bland for them. I liked "pork and Breans" "Dreamin'" and "Troublemaker". I planning on a writing a full review of his labum for the Buffalo News (I'm a correspondent for the youth section), and if the thread is still going on at that point, I'll give my full thoughts.

It's pretty good if your standards for them have been lowered; "pork and beans", "Dreamin", "heart songs", "cold dark world", and "the angel and the one" are the only tracks I would recommend listening to.
As for the album cover, I'm still in delusion about it. I keep telling myself "that can't be the cover, it just can't."

I got this album and I'm still in the process of reviewing all the songs on it.
At first I didn't like the pork and beans song, but it's growing on me a lot, especially since seeing the music video.

While I get that the message of the song is that they don't care about what I think, I still think it is fucking terrible.
I personally also feel they are laughing at all of you and make fun of their fans behind their backs.

I don't understand why people are calling this album good at all. It's worse than the last 3 combined. "Everybody Get Dangerous" and "Heart Songs" are unspeakably bad.
The funniest thing about the album is that almost every song contains some line referencing that Rivers doesn't care what people think of him.

Rivers has never cared about his fans or what they think of him, case in point:
he's referred to his fans as "little bitches" and he's shown hatred for most of the songs on Pinkerton, as well as a few from the blue album.
As far as I am concerned Rivers is a whiny little bitch, who just happened to have been part of two fantastic albums.

After some more thought, I've settled at this: tracks 1, 6 and 10 are fantastic. The rest of the album... wow, pretty lame. How can the same guy who wrote "No One Else" and "Buddy Holly" have helped to write "Cold Dark World?"
The mind reels.

heart songs is fantastic. i'm not defending the album, which is god awful, but heart songs is a really, really good tune.

when i tried to listen to this in my car one day, i remember feeling embarassed listening to heart songs at a stop light and hoping no one could make out the lyrics. it's bad
I think we can agree the red album is better than Make Believe though, at the very least

^well at first I thought that too, but after listening to it again I might have to change my opinion. Also, I'd like to remove "cold dark world" from the list of songs that I said were good.

Heartsongs reminds me of the kind of cheesy pop song they play during the "tender" scene in softcore pornos.

I actually think Rivers is getting worse and worse as a lyricist with each passing album.
I'm a troublemaker
Never been a faker
Doin' things my own way
And never givin' up
One look in the mirror and i'm tickled pink
I don't give a hoot about what you think
When I was younger
I used to go and tip cows for fun, yeah
Actually I didn't do that
'Cos I didn't want the cow to be sad
Regardless, this album still slays Make Believe. Not that it's truly great or anything, but at least this album isn't the same damn song 12 times (all of which had average/embarrassing/horrid lyrics, I might add).

I guess I just think Weezer is horribly overrated. :-X
