Anyone else going to follow this? Morrison said that it would be the biggest Batman arc in 70 years.
So, who's the ultimate nemesis? Alfred? Dick? Tim? Thomas and Martha Wayne? Gordon? It's all out there...
Should be tons of fun. It starts in Batman #676, out now.

i have to wait 1-2 weeks more before my US-comics shipped to europe, but i have the book on my pull list for years. Hope they don't really replace Bruce Wayne as Batman. At least not for a long time. He's batman for me and no one else. But the story arc will be interesting for sure.

nope, i'm a big batman fan, i knew this storyline was due and there was a lot of talk on several comic book forums about it already.
Morrison said about the story that things even worse than his own death happen to Batman, so it should be interesting what he comes up with.

that's the title of the storyline, so it's correct. But i can understand that people, who don't read the books don't know about the topic of this thread only from the thread title.

Yep, I'm collecting this and have been collecting Batman since Morrison's run. Also Detective Comics since Dini started. It's been a pretty consistently good year in terms of Batman comics, I must say.
Morrison's storytelling tends to confuse the hell out of me, but maybe things will start coming together....

Dini and Morrision have both been superb. So have the fill in guys on Tec. It's good times for Batman fans.
Nope. I got suckered in by the whole Death of Superman thing and bought all the comics, only for superman to come back to life a couple months later and everything going back to normal. Not falling for that one again.

If I was still reading comics, I'd probably take more notice. I might just wait until the graphic novel comes out to read it, if at all.

Captain America's still dead, so maybe comic book publishers are actually planning on permanently killing beloved characters, I may look into this one

DC's not going to kill off their (probably) biggest comic icon, especially with a new Batman flick around the corner.

i agree, and killing characters, so that a stupid story looks more important is a cheap trick. Hope Morrison doesn't need this kind of move to tell an important and good story.
Exactly. The Death Of Superman was the biggest rip ever, it made front page news and was a story on every news network, but it turned out to be just another story with everything back to normal a few months later. Not that I think they should have killed him off, but it was a pretty big anti-climax, and was just hyped up to help DC's lagging sales.
Same thing when they made Bruce Wayne a paraplegic and had him replaced by Azreal. Few months later and its back to normal through comic book magic.
Morrison had this to say: "This is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman."
But Im not buying it this time. No way will they continue Batman permanently without Bruce Wayne. All will be back to normal in no time.

well, i read comics for years and there is this golden rule
"They always come back"
Not if, only when matters. Not even how they come back is important ( because the explanation is mostly a joke if there is one)

I think they SHOULD kill off the "man" in Batman, Superman, etc. I don't want to think of a Superman who landed outside Smallville in 1999.

No, they won't kill Bruce Wayne, duh. It's about the impetus of the Batman being killed, or the need for a Batman, or the desire to continue for Bruce to be Batman... we will find out.
I've heard an awesome theory about the black glove being Thomas Wayne himself (and if you don't know who or what the black glove is, you need to get caught up on some back issues first!)
It is going to be great though.

I could only see it working if they did it like that great "Batman: The Animated Series" episode "The Man Who Killed Batman" where he lets everyone think he's dead to give himself an advantage to piece together things going on while everyone assumes he can't because he's gone. Otherwise, I think it's just a shock tactic by lazy writers. And I am one of the people who saw this thread title and thought "Oh shit, Adam West is dead"...a thought immediately followed by sadness that his career ended with him playing a warped version of himself on Family Guy for a few seasons too long (like everything else in the show, it started off really well, but has sucked for awhile).

Yeah I don't believe DC or Morrison have even said (or implied?) they are killing off Batman -- it's just the name of the story and it could have any kind of symbolic/metaphorical meanings. So there's no reason to get all mad or accusatory about DC ripping everyone off or lying.
It just sounds like a good story is in the works, and Batman comics have been very very good for a while now.

because of the name of the storyline there are of course a lot of rumors about killing and replacing bruce wayne. But i hope too that the story provides more than just that.

Went to a comic book store today and flicked through part one. I'll probably wait for the Collection like they made of Face the face.

If he did die they'd probably have some nuts infinite crisis thing again and he'd be up and running in no time, just like Jason Todd. I hope they find a better cause than some other dimension superboy getting in a strop and banging on some walls this time though.

Yeah, all that infinite crisis/parallel dimension crap is the main reason I stopped reading comics.

Final Crisis will be awesome. Grant Morrisson is going to have three series running at the same time, all of which will be great. (All star Superman being the third) Liking Batman R.I.P., but I don't think anyone will die, maybe, Bruce will stop wanting to be Batman for a litle, or maybe it will be some phycological bullshit like, now Bruce Wayne is the persona, and batman is the real person.

Isnt that the way Batman has always been?

It's going to be huge. It's not going to be some psychological junk, it's going to be a huge reveal. There are already too many "Batman broke under the stress" stories.
