Agreed, far too many lists, not enough discussion. Maybe it has to do with media itself, not really many movies or shows, or even music thats interesting enough to really debate about.

I love talking modern or new movies to death - it makes for lively discussion and interesting debates on the merits of something. Maybe we just need to have more activity in the threads on recent shit. Or break the taboo on reopening discussion on movies/albums that were talked about in the last year.

Someone could also organize a weekly film discussion, so everyone actually watches a specific movie sometime during the week and then talks about it.

Or the mods could aggressively kill threads that seem to be stupid, and not just against the rules.


Or we could just wait for discussion to inevitably pick up once the Oscar movies start hitting theaters in like six months.

I think thats a great idea. Often your opinion changes alot about a movie over time or repeated viewings. Some grow on you, others you realise that they were actually crap. A movies revisited thread is a good idea, and it will be fun comparing it to everyones views on it a year ago.
Like, I cant believe there was a time that I disliked LOTR. Its true, search enough and you'll find me talking about how much I hated Fellowship when it first came out. They now rank in my top 10 movies.
