Why is Fraudcast News being brought forward? Anyway, the C4 launch night sounds quite good. I'm not too interested in the episodes themselves, but the documentary and the quiz sounds alright.

Uh, that should be pretty obvious to anyone; it's the same day Channel 4 starts airing the show, that's why. They obviously want to beat them in ratings.

Fraudcast News is the season 15 finale, yet their airing it before Bart-Mangled Banner. Why didn't they bring the latter forward?

Fraudcast News is the season 15 finale, yet their airing it before Bart-Mangled Banner. Why didn't they bring the latter forward?

They have, but I only discovered this after I posted the previous post.
Bart-Mangled Banner and Co-Dependant's Day have now traded airing dates (so Bart-Mangled Banner is now airing 7th November, and Co-Dependant's Day on the 14th)

Sky One's New Episodes (revised Sunday, 24th October)
Smart and Smarter airs tonight, at 6:30pm
Catch 'em If You Can airs Sunday, 31st October, at 6:30pm
Fraudcast News airs Friday, 5th November, at 8:30pm
Bart-Mangled Banner airs Sunday, 7th November, at 6:30pm
Co-Dependant's Day airs Sunday, 14th November, at 6:30pm
Sunday, 21st November, 6:30pm timeslot is now TBC. I think it will be filled with Treehouse of Horror XV.
Sunday, 28th November, 6:30pm timeslot is now TBC. It was filled with Treehouse of Horror XV, I think they have probably brought it forward to Sunday, 21st November.

December's new episodes should be available very soon.

Is it true Sky are going to be airing a new episode every week until Christmas?

H Thompson
10-25-2004, 04:54 AM
Not sure.
The thing is all this Sky competing doesn't really take anything away from channel 4, I mean unless a new episode clashes then it doesn't mean anything, all that putting fraudcast news on does just extends the Simpsons night, I'll just be watching a little ealier. Even if they show new episodes up to christmas, they'll be on sunday at 6:30 pm or Friday 8:30pm, its not going to stop me from watching it on channel 4, because it won't actually help either channel to have the Simpsons clash.

Some news about C4

APPARENTLY C4 will be showing TWO episodes every Friday!

A friend said did you here about The Simpsons going C4 ETC

And he said there showing an episode every week day (as I knew) and TWO on Fridays!. So I said no there just doing two for Nov 5th but he said an advert said two EVERY Friday?

Oh regarding the new Sky episodes, When will Decembers listing be up. Today or Tomorrow?

H Thompson
10-25-2004, 07:53 AM
thankyou but We already knew that C4 news. In addition there will be a documentary at 10:00pm and a quiz at 11:05pm.

Hi HT

Yes I know everyone knew about C4 Simpsons week days but I thought they were just showing ONE episode on Fridays?

So do you mean we all know that there showing them genurally or we know that there showing them twice on Fridays...

And I also know all about the start (November the 5th) and how they are setting it up (so no need to read the thread :D )

H Thompson

Your friend is very misguided about that advert. Every weekday and two on Fridays. By that they mean, that they have the 6pm one and the 9pm one. There won't be a double-bill of new episodes every Friday, just on 5th November.

Could someone do me a favour and on 29th of October remind me "29-Oct 19:00 2F22 Lemon Of Troy". One out of four episodes I have yet to see.

Also, I've corrected Wezzo's mistakes so it's slighty different to the SNPP page.

Also, a little off topic, but if anyone has information on cuts I haven't got listed at http://www.simpsorama.com/list.htm , could you PM me or post here. I'd greatly appreciate it.

I think we all know the listings off by heart for 5th November, so I won't bore you with them again! I do, however, have the listings for 8th-9th November (Monday-Tuesday).

Channel 4: Listings (8th-9th November)
Monday, 8th November
18:00 - 7F03 - Bart Gets an 'F'
Tuesday, 9th November
18:00 - 7F02 - Simpson and Delilah

Hi Wesley, we currently hold the rights seasons 2,3,4,5, 11 and 12

"THE SIMPSONS arrive at Channel 4 on 5th November from 9pm, with two
episodes never shown on UK terrestrial TV. Then at 10pm we have the
documentary THE WORLD ACCORDING TO THE SIMPSONS, where celebrity fans pay
tribute to the show. After that check out your Simpsons knowledge by

HAHA! :D

This information was part of one of my previous posts in this thread, and is just a confirmation of the truth.

For anyone who is interested, the forementioned The Ultimate Guide to The Simpsons documentary is now called The World According to The Simpsons.

The World According to The Simpsons runs from 22:00 to 23:05. I previously listed it as 22:00 to 23:00. It is only 5 minutes, but, some people will find it incredibly useful (for instance people who want to tape the documentary but nothing else won't miss the last 5 minutes!).
This obviously means that, now, The Simpsons Quiz starts at 23:05.

A little info regarding SkyOne

On Friday the 5th of November (According to TV choice) the following episodes will air

7-8 My Big Fat Geek Wedding and The Ziff Who Came To Dinner
8-8.30 SMART AND SMARTER
8.30-9 Fraudcast News

So Smart&Smarter will air!

As for TreeHouse of Horror 15 airing on the 28th of November

It says Probably on SNPP page. Im guessing it says TBC on the Sky listings. Can we be sure it will be THOH15. As we know Sky can be very unrealible

I think you mean Dominoes, obviously they haven't got through to you. If you did mean pizza hut however it’s a beautiful irony (though certainly not a delicious one)

Also if buy one t.v guide this week, get the radio times, its got interviews with Groening and Jean, and a nice cover of homer on the front, which if you looked at the news page, you will have already seen.

simplysimpsons
10-28-2004, 02:32 PM
It is Pizza Hut, definitely! This'll mean even more competition between Sky One and Channel 4...don't think Sky will like it that everyone orders their pizza before they show the Dominoe's ad!

Anyway, thanks for that, I'll pick up a Radio Times asap. Look out for other TV guides on saturday and sunday - they're bound to have tons of hype about OFF's launch on C4!

Pizza Hut VS. Domino's Pizza? Interesting rivalry...Obviously Pizza Hut has the terrestrial TV advantage.

Big debate: Pizza Hut or Domino's?

For me, Pizza Hut wins every time.

Butters
10-29-2004, 01:33 AM
Pizza Hut. Domino's (or as those wacky American's call it "Dominoe's") are the worst pizza's imaginable. No wonder their promotions are always of cartoon characters and not real people, if they subjected real people to that goo they'd be arrested for manslaughter.

I can't wait an see the wacky solutions Sky come up with to win this ratings war... they'll probably end up doing a special day. Something along the lines of "Episodes Of The Simpsons followed by Radio Porn", or "Summer" Day in December. That's why you've got to love Sky. They're idiots.

H Thompson
10-29-2004, 04:28 AM
They certaintley are Idiots, I don't really understand why moving Fraudcast News to 8:30pm on friday changes anything, it just means that Simpsons night starts sooner, I suppose people will be getting Domino's before they get Pizza Hut.

Yep I'm also not excited,I more interested in the Documentary which is supposed to have involvment from the writers and the quiz featuring Nick Frost, who's relativley famous for roles in Spaced and Shaun of The Dead, but other than that I'm more interested in the new episode on Sky.

HELL YEAH! Most of my friends watched The Simpsons when it was on BBC2, but don't have Sky - they rely on me for news on C4 and stuff! I think only one of my proper friends has Sky, like me, but he usually watched it on BBC2 aswell. So, it will be very interesting to see how C4 handles it, and how much they talk about it. I can picture it now:
Me: Did you see the launch night of Simpsons on Friday?
Friends: Yeah, it was great!
Me: Watching it tonight at 6pm?
Friends: Probably. Is it a new episode?
Me: No, season 2....

Or something like that...I got too carried away in that...I was bored! :D

I'm sure that futurama or south park sometimes is managed to be split into the three acts.

Channel 4 Schedules for 5th-12th November (updated 30th October)
NOTE: This is the list of episodes only, not the documentary and quiz on 5th November.
Friday, 5th November
21:00 - BABF21 - A Tale of Two Springfields (S12, ep 2)
21:30 - BABF20 - Treehouse of Horror XI (S12, ep 1)
Sunday, 7th November
17:30 - BABF21 - A Tale of Two Springfields (S12, ep 2) (R)
18:00 - BABF20 - Treehouse of Horror XI (S12, ep 1) (R)
Monday, 8th November
18:00 - 7F03 - Bart Gets An 'F' (S2, ep 1)
Tuesday, 9th November
18:00 - 7F02 - Samson and Delilah (S2, ep 2)
Wednesday, 10th November
18:00 - 7F04 - Treehouse of Horror (S2, ep 3)

I assume that if they show the rest in exact order, the Thursday and Friday episodes will be Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish (7F01) and Dancin' Homer (7F05) respectively.

Also, note that The Simpsons Quiz is on from 23:05 to 23:50, not 23:05 to 00:00. I listed it at that time, because that is what was told originally on Digital Spy and Wezzo's UK & Ireland Listings page, but I have checked in a number of TV guides and they all say 23:50.

Thanks for the info, homer228...judging by this I'm gonna assume that C4 are going to show Season 2 in order, 1 episode every weekday at 6 and two from S12 primetime on fridays. Once S2 has finished they'll show S3, 4 and 5 by episode order. I guess that they'll repeat S12 when it's finished until they get S13, or show S11 after S12 has finished and repeat the two seasons on fridays till they get S13.

6 days to go.

Since the reruns of Season 12 are on at an earlier time, chance is they will be cut. It's going to be rather embarrassing when C4 show ads claiming "New Episode on Friday", then my dad goes on about it all week and then he turns it on to find he's already seen it. (He'll probably yell at me or something). I doubt I'll be able to keep myself awake for the quiz show and documentary (It's long after my usual pass out time), if I could be bothered I might be set my VCR to record them.

Also, in May when Big Brother starts off again (oh god no!), imagine the ratings the Simpsons are going to get. I mean following a show that practically every loser watches it can only be good.

I know it may be a bit early to think about this but how will C4 handle OFF during the xmas holidays. BBC used to do the show well in the xmas holidays by soemtimes showing it during lunchtime/afternoon. But the last couple of years they basically ignored OFF during that period. Hopefully C4 can put together a bunch of episodes for us to watch during the best part of Winter.

I think they'll just handle it the same, to be honest. Perhaps they'll hold a few Christmas episodes over and air them nearer to Christmas. I wouldn't expect anything extravagant from them.

Well, given the content and the occasion, it probably has as much chance of being repeated as the Queen's speech, really.

Knowing Channel Four though, it's bound to be shown again and again, probably at the most inappropriate of times or when there's nothing else to show.

No, it's mainly Marge, but with contributions from the rest of the family. Lisa's bit about Cornwall, I'm sure will be just a tiny, throwaway line.

I was told (by one of the producers of the show) that is was only supposed to be a half-hour show. But that's cool if it's longer, it means more of the good stuff will be shown, especially if its on pretty late!

A little more off topic here, I was looking through my garage and found these old Simpsons tapes that the sun gave away. Can anyone else remember those give-a-ways? You had to collect six (or eight) tickets and you got a tape with an episode on? They were random picks from four tapes with one episode on each. There was Oh, Brother Where Art Thou?, Duffless, Rosebud and Guess Who's Coming To Criticize Dinner. Anyone else wound up with one of these? A contact is saying that Oh, Brother Where Art Thou? was the easiest and most common to wind up with. You also got a tiny version of Cartooning With The Simpsons book.

A little Simpsons info

As been already posted The Simpsons will use the first five episodes of season two from Monday to Friday. But on Friday at 9.00pm (12th of November) they will show an episode described from www.onthebox.com as Krusty discovers that he fathered a child during the Gulf War, but goes on to gamble away his daughter's precious violin during a poker game with Fat Tony.

Yes, Insane Clown Poppy will air next week, on Friday, 12th November at 9pm. It is the third episode of season 12.
Here is a quick list of season 12. Don't expect C4 to air them in exact order, though. On the opening night, they show S12, ep 2 (A Tale of Two Springfields) before S12, ep 1 (Treehouse of Horror XI).
01 BABF21 Treehouse of Horror XI
02 BABF20 A Tale of Two Springfields
03 BABF17 Insane Clown Poppy
04 CABF01 Lisa the Tree Hugger
05 CABF04 Homer vs. Dignity
06 CABF02 The Computer Wore Menace Shoes
07 CABF03 The Great Money Caper
08 CABF06 Skinner's Sense of Snow
09 BABF22 HOMR
10 CABF05 Pokey Mom
11 CABF08 Worst Episode Ever
12 CABF07 Tennis the Menace
13 CABF10 Day of the Jackanapes
14 CABF12 New Kids on the Blecch
15 CABF09 Hungry Hungry Homer
16 CABF11 Bye Bye Nerdie
17 CABF13 Simpson Safari
18 CABF14 Trilogy of Error
19 CABF15 I'm Goin' to Praiseland
20 CABF16 Children of a Lesser Clod
21 CABF17 Simpsons Tall Tales
You should also note that A Tale of Two Springfields is the official season twelve premiere, and that the 'R' on the script covers (and official title) of the episode HOMR is backwards.

matt228
11-01-2004, 02:08 PM
If they show them in order from Insane Clown Poppy onwards, with no double-bills, then Skinner's Sense of Snow will air on Friday, 17th December, so they probably wouldn't change it - unless they change it around with the episode on Friday 24th December (Christmas Eve).

George Cauldron
11-01-2004, 02:24 PM
Now that you mention it, that's a very good point. Who knows, perhaps Channel 4 timed this correctly to coincide with Christmas. I'd assume that they'd air Skinner's Sense of Snow on the 17th December, and perhaps repeat it on the 24th too. (Or use another Christmas-themed episodes that they own the rights to)

To add on to that Christmas C4 thing, possibility is that they will indeed swap HomR and Skinner's Sense Of Snow around. Or maybe even hold over Homer vs. Dignity. I pray they don't though. I'll be recording it with my DVD-R (I had to say that or someone would've said "I thought you didn't have a VCR!"), and I would like to have a disc titled "The 12th Season" and have the episodes in correct order for easy viewing.

Edit: Just saw your post, George, and I'm afraid to say the bastards probably will do that. They love ruining our viewing. That Golden D'ohnut awards had that picture of a Doh'nut award, the 10th Anniversary had a huge bubble that said "The Simpsons, 10th Anniversary Special" and I remember once that had a spinning picture of something that was REALLY distracting. As if it wasn't bad enough that they just randomly, for no reason at all, switched logo, completely fucking up my collection of Season 15, and making older copies look older. Bastards.

I'm confused how is this the A-Z of simpsons.

I would imagine that an 'A' episode will be centered around, say, Apu, 'B' will of course be Bart heavy, as will 'H' be with Homer, 'M' with Marge/Maggie, etc. I fail to see how they will sustain this run, some letters will be harder to select eps. for, I'm guessing.

when they finally get to X, I reckon they'll play the Mr. X episode.

I will definitely be recording that episode. I don't record every episode that I see that isn't on VHS/DVD, I only record ones that rarely air or are specifically memorable - the reason I don't have all the episodes on tape is that I live in a house with my mother, who pretty much hates The Simpsons, and a sister, who is a quite casual fan. They usually want something taping at the same time.

Since Weekend at Burnsie's almost NEVER airs, I'm going to tape it.

I wonder if Wezzo with update the UK & Ireland Listings page with this information and Channel 4's listings up to 12th December tonight or tomorrow...It's pretty obvious about C4 but he forgot to put them in on Saturday

Wezzo might even include things like "A-Z: 'A'" or something before episodes, like he did for summer long weekends ("The Simpsons at Work"). :D

Although this was pretty obvious I thought it worth noting that Sky have confirmed that Treehouse of Horror XV premieres on Sky One on Sunday 21st November at 6:30pm. Here's their press release:

THE SIMPSONS *NEW 16TH SERIES* starts Sunday 21 November at 6.30pm
THE SIMPSONS

Just in case you were ever in any doubt, Sky One remains the only place to catch new episodes of the world's favourite animation, four years before they play on any other UK channel. And there's a treat in store this week with the new 16th series.

VIPs are clamouring to sign up for the new season, with 50 Cent, Kim Cattrall and Ray Romano already confirmed. While '50' is scheduled to play himself, it's thought that Cattrall will play a former high school pal of Marge, and Romano will play Ray Magini, Homer's new best friend. Meanwhile, speculation continues to grow over which of Springfield's residents will come out of the closet and get married on the show, with Patty Bouvier and Edna Krabappel current front-runners.

On Sunday 21 November, Season 16 gets off to a spooky start in traditionally surreal fashion with the much-anticipated Treehouse Of Horror XV. With their characteristic look at the dark side of The Simpsons, the Treehouse season openers are legendary, and this one will be no exception. In The Ned Zone - the first of the three chilling tales - Ned Flanders takes a knock to the head and finds he can foretell people's deaths. He's shocked to see himself murdering one of his neighbours... Then, in Four Beheadings And A Funeral, we head to Victorian London, where deerstalkered Detective Eliza Simpson and her sidekick Dr Bartley are trying to catch serial killer The Muttonchop Murderer. Finally, there's In The Belly Of The Boss, where Maggie is shrunk inside a vitamin pill and swallowed by Mr Burns. The lucky girl gets to explore his body, in a cheeky nod to 1960s classic Fantastic Voyage. Bring it on...

Sky's November magazine confirms that there is a new episode every Sunday, plus Friday 5th, in November.
It confirms what the previous message says, about Treehouse of Horror XV airing on Sunday, 21st November, at 6:30pm. It also highlights a new episode for Sunday. 28th November, so this must mean the 2nd episode from season 16, which is All's Fair in Oven War.

This puts us two weeks behind the USA, who air Treehouse of Horror XV and All's Fair in Oven War on Sunday 7th and Sunday 14th respectively. :D

After all the shit that's going on in my life at the moment, chances are I won't get to see the specials. I'll probably only get to see 8:30-10:00. At least that's something to be thankful for.

And to continue on from the 16th Season thing, we often do start the new season just 2 weeks after the US. In fact, I remember when we started seeing S14, we kept all the way behind them and then Sky just stopped airing new episodes. Then on December 21st they aired Large Marge. Last year I believe it was similar, they usually keep up with the first two episodes then stop and air none until December. Just to avoid all you getting your hopes up.

New Episode *James Caan Guest Stars*
THE SIMPSONS - All's Fair In Oven War
Another first play of a new Simpsons instalment comes to Sky One screens this week.
Last seen as Las Vegas security boss Ed Deline, James Caan makes a guest appearance in The Simpsons this week. As does reclusive author Thomas Pynchon, who gets a taste for Marge's wasabi buffalo wings at a church picnic. Who wouldn't?
Impressed by Marge's cooking, the locals persuade her to enter the Ovenfresh Bake-Off. She's so determined to win that she resorts to sabotage, with just a few drops of Maggie's ear medicine.
Meanwhile, Bart finds Homer's old Playdude magazines and decides to relive that glorious 70s world of flares, sideburns and hideously overdressed pimps. He hosts a Playdude party in the treehouse, and who should show up but Hollywood legend James Caan? It's Mrs Krabappel's lucky night.

I hope Sky One doesn't keep trying to follow hot on the heels of Fox and air a new episode (nearly) every week, leaving a huge gaping hole in the summer. The two-episodes-a-month routine was absolutely fine, spreading the episodes out over the course of a year with few empty periods. I'd rather have new episodes come bit by bit, rather than wait so long for them, and have a huge influx of them all at once, then have to wait ages again, which they seem to be doing. Surely, I'm not the only one who doesn't like what they're doing, if that is what they're doing, unless that's not what they're doing, in which case, pardon my hasty worrying.

Also, the nice person above me kindly pointed out that Fraudcast News is on Sunday. Is it also on Friday too, or have they just moved it two days later?

Wezzo is updating the UK & Ireland Listings page again on Saturday, rather than today. He is sick at the moment so don't expect too much from him.

At the moment, all C4 seems to be showing to advertise Simpsons are:
1) 3 different trailers, AFTER the adverts. One with CBG and Homer saying "What is this?" and on the screen it says "This is a trailer, to tell you that The Simpsons are on 4.", then Homer says "Don't forget" whilst the screen says "Friday at 9". Or something like that. The other one starts with Bart saying "I must warn you, that once this tape starts, it will not stop. Because that button is broken." with the same info. The last one says "There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to change the picture. We are controlling the transmissions." Or something like that.

I prefer the epsiodes spread over the year as well, because then you are never far away from a new episode. So, if Sky show Sleeping With The Enemy on 5th Dec, then we will be only one week behind the USA!

I don't like it when they don't have a new episode for more than two weeks. So I say, have one episode every two weeks, then a brief recess in the summer (about 6 weeks).

Although it doesn't really bother me that much anymore since I just d/l each episode when it airs in the U.S. ;)

1 Day To Go.

What I do is usually don't download the hold-overs and watch them first time over here. Then after Christmas, I start to download the episodes (as it is usually when Sky start taking forever to air new episodes).

Also, that C4 advert with the repeat "What is this?" and "Don't forget" lines is the most annoying thing I've ever seen. There's also another ad where it's just a complication of short clips from Season 11 and 12.

Edit: Awful, terrible news! SkyOne have decided to follow BBC 2's foot-steps and ban The City Of New York vs. Homer Simpson. It's been dropped from the November the 11th 2004 timeslot. This sucks balls, don't it?

I've never been angrier. I've been waiting so long to see "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" again, it's unbelievable and now they've opted not to show it.

"Barts Comet" is replacing it by the way.

God I'm just praying that they'll show it in December, I mean perhaps they're not airing such an episode on the 11th November but deciding to show it at a later date.

As far as the Channel 4 Adverts are concerned, I'm impressed with the heavy advertising but will agree that they are fairly annoying. I mean the advert with Homer humming "In The Jungle" admits it's anoying.

Although the one with Homer saying "Dont Forget" has stuck with me over the last 12 hours.

But in Bart's Comet, there's a rocket exploding, the threat of death, and Ned Flanders' bomb shelter collapses!

Come on SkyOne! It's a cartoon. It doesn't feature any buildings collapsing, or planes flying into buildings does it? It's the WTC in all it's glory. Does this mean they're now gonna ban everything on TV that has references to the World Trade Center in it?

I think its maybe cause of the stuff like "Hey, don't worry about that guy, they stick all the jerks in tower 1"

I dunno. I agree, I reckon they should still play it, but kinda understand why they have chosen not to. Don't bother me too much anyways, I downloaded that ep., for historical value of course.

Hey talking of British tv cuts, do you remember the week after princess Diana died, they (understandably) cut segments from 3 eps. that week: One was when Barney mistook Princess Di for a pile of rags; *cut*, one was when Mr Burns said the line "damn you papparatzi" in the BoBo episode; *cut*, and the final one was when Homer was driving to get Krusty's trampoline, and the car accident that occurs after he says "you're not getting my trampoline!" *cut*. (Forget the ep. names for each scene, but you get the idea of what I'm talking about)

These scenes have since been restored in the newer reruns, but it makes you wonder why they just didnt bother changing the eps. the chose to air that week, surely that'd have been easier.

They still refuse to show the scene, I think in Skinner's sense of snow where Homer tributes the life of Princess Dianna and Dodi, which of course is understandable, as I reckon that 'joke' is a bit bad taste, really (& I'm not easily offended).

The "tribute to Princess Di" in Skinner's Sense Of Snow was never removed. However, Ned Flanders crashing his car at the start of Much Apu About Nothing was removed, as well as the scene in Bart's Inner Child where Otto is telling people they can park anywhere, and there's a huge pile of smashed up cars. There's probably more, I just can't be bothered to remember them.

And BTW, BBC 2 never reinstated the "pile of rags" reference in Duffless. Freaks.

All the cuts from Sky One on A Tale of Two Springfields were left uncut on Channel 4!
Here is what Sky cut (the cut bits are in Royal Blue):
Marty : A Mattress? Joan Collins must be in town.
(Bill and Marty laugh, as Bill presses a button.)
Sound Byte : Oh, Behave.
(Homer laughs)
Homer : Joan Collins? That girl sleeps with everybody.
Marty : Okay. Time to give away free concert tickets.
[NOTE: This makes Moe's line during the town hall meeting pointless.]

(Homer smashes his radio)
Homer : Oh, it's not fair! I've been a fan of The Who since the very beginning... when they were the Hillbilly Bugger Boys!
Bart : You should call that radio station and let them have it!

(Homer calls the radio station, only to get the "Area-Code" message. Bart laughs as his prank worked.)
Homer : Why you little...
(Homer grabs the phone and starts choking Bart with the wire. Bart grabs the receiver and pounds Homer over the head with it. Eventually the two get tired and pass out.)
(Cut to Town Hall)

Kent : With the money made from the gold, Olde Springfield was able to buy the "Evian" water factory and fly it over here from France.
(Homer groans)
Kent : Thanks, Mayor Simpson. Because of you, we're all taking golden showers.
(The Camera-Man laughs)
Kent : What?
Marge : We can't go on fighting with Olde Springfield.
[NOTE: The word "Evian" was cut due to copyright.]

Thanks to Simpsorama for Sky's cuts to the episode.
I'm very happy they haven't cut anything from the episode. It is after-watershed, but even on Friends, which aired at 9pm, they had certain lines cut, e.g. "wanker".

Great that A Tale Of Two Springfields was left uncut. And Treehouse of Horror XI showed the blood leaking from under the door where Goldilocks was mauled by the three bears. Oddly though, the scary names for Matt Groening, James L. Brooks and Sam Simon were blanked out on the opening credits of Treehouse of Horror XI.
I can see no reasons, 'cause there are no reasons. What reasons do you need to be shown?

Otherwise, so far am enjoying the episodes. They've aged well, and seemed better than I remembered them. Also, good to see my namesake again.

Treehouse of Horror XI
(Goldilocks wakes up, as she notices the three bears looming over her. She screams and runs to the door. She can't get out because Bart blocked the door at the other side with a chair. We see from outside, as the door handle rattles and the chair shakes. After a while, horrible slashing noises are heard, as blood trickles out from inside over the ground outside.)

By the way, while I posted this message, George Cauldron and simplysimpsons posted messages with most of the information in it.

I noticed the scary names being cut out on the opening credits, but I think it was just an error in the transmission. They weren't cut over the end credits.

Good to hear the contributions especially from the staff I've never seen before - Tim Long, Dan Greaney, Ian Maxtone-Graham, Carolyn Omine et al....All in all, that was a superb documentary, probably the best I've seen this side of the Atlantic. Yup, better than the one BBC2 aired five years ago.

As for the Simpsons Quiz, obviously easy, but the intention was to entertain, not educate, so what we got was a very funny, bawdy show that was enjoyable on many levels. I especially enjoyed the part where the teams had to guess what risque word Homer was about to say from Missionary: Impossible. They certainly weren't expecting "wanker!" I don't think anyone was.

Well what a great Simpsons Night! (Heck, I watched everything including the Season 15 repeats)

So off to 8:30pm, "Fraudcast News" was quite possibly the best episode of Season 15. I liked just about everything and I was totally caught off gaurd with Willie's "Shite" Line. I hadn't read anything previous to watching the episode so it was a little shocking. But shocking in a "laugh out loud" way.

Then after some of the heaviest advertising I've ever seen for any show on TV (Hell I even noticed that on the introduction to Hollyoaks -a show I don't watch - they replaced one of the graphics with Bart and Homer) Channel 4 kicked off Season 12.
Although I've seen these episodes many a time, I still managed to enjoy them very much and also appreciated the non-edited version of both episodes (The Joan Collins line etc. in "A Tale Of Two Springfields" and Goldylocks' blood treakling under the door in "Treehouse Of Horror XI"

So after that we were treated to a superb documentry including news from season 16 (The Four Beheadings and a Funeral Act in "Treehouse of Horror XV") and footage from Season 15 (The entire couch gag from "The Ziff Who Came To Dinner" to open the show and footage from "The Regina Monologues")
A well put together documentry and nice surprise to see so many people behind the Simpsons actually appear. (Although the voice actors are looking older from the last time I saw them and Matt Groening looked a little plumper than usual - infact I think Al Jean is the only one who looks better than he once did but anyways...)

The Simpsons Quiz was...Better than expected. Considering the Z-list celebrities who appeared I thought this was gonna bomb but it turned out alright I suppose.
I should also note, That's the first time I heard the line where Homer says "Wanker" because BBC2 continued to edit it although I was aware that they were doing it.

So a good night for The Simpsons as I previously mentioned.

I didn't think it had much potential, but for me, it exceeded that potential. Not brilliant, but I can see how some people might not have enjoyed it. Yes, right at the end I turned away for a second and my friend (who was with me at the filming) starts going "oh look, there's us!" I turn around and we're gone :( I'll try and get a screenshot somehow. And tbh I didn't expect to get my name in the credits, I should've asked them when I was there (even if jokingly).

As for bits cut out...a whole round was cut! I was talking to my other friend (who was with me) on MSN and he pointed out a clip that was missing, and we realised. The first round was originally a Simpsons family round, i.e. questions on Homer, Marge, Lisa and Bart. And the prank calls was the second and so on, but they changed it!

I really loved those! C4 did a great job with them, imo. I wish C4 would keep those idents to use before future episodes or just generally. The ones I can remember are Maggie inching along the line trying to keep up with the scrolling screen, Homer running through the woods and hiding behind trees, Bart picking up Channel 4 logos from a stack and kicking them around, and the Simpsons falling from the sky (a variation on Channel 4's airplane cloud streaks ident). I've framegrabbed the last 2:
Bart kicking 4s 1 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/c4hit1.jpg)
Bart kicking 4s 2 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/c4hit2.jpg)
Bart kicking 4s 3 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/c4hit3.jpg)

Simpsons falling 1 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/simpsfalling1.jpg)
Simpsons falling 2 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/simpsfalling2.jpg)

If I see the other 2, I'll framegrab those.
As for the quiz, I thought it was great. However, I predicted the presenter would have a cheesy catchphrase button, and he did. "Excellent!" "Ha-ha!" "Aye carumba!" Still though, some questions were tricky, and a few of the "celebs" didn't have a clue.

Just watched it all on Sky+ as i was at a sleepover yesterday. I was very very surprised C4 kept everything in and pleased with the documentry and quiz. The documentry was much better than Sky's attempt to promote the show in 2000, but i still think that it doesn't match up to BBC 2's 2000 documentry. The quiz wasn't as good as i hoped but wasn't terrible and i was shocked to see the celebs know quite alot! So all in all very good. All this promoting and going about things is all very professional and it's really exciting IMO that OFF is getting noticed after a few years of people 'fogetting it' or 'taking it for granted'.

Well done C4

'Tale Of Two Springfields' - 2.5/5
'THOH XI' - 3/5
'The World According To The Simpsons' - 4/5
'The Simpsons Celebrity Quiz' - 3.5/5
'Promoting' - 5/5

C4 and The Simpsons Overall - 4.5/5

I really loved those! C4 did a great job with them, imo. I wish C4 would keep those idents to use before future episodes or just generally. The ones I can remember are Maggie inching along the line trying to keep up with the scrolling screen, Homer running through the woods and hiding behind trees, Bart picking up Channel 4 logos from a stack and kicking them around, and the Simpsons falling from the sky (a variation on Channel 4's airplane cloud streaks ident). I've framegrabbed the last 2:
Bart kicking 4s 1 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/c4hit1.jpg)
Bart kicking 4s 2 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/c4hit2.jpg)
Bart kicking 4s 3 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/c4hit3.jpg)

Simpsons falling 1 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/simpsfalling1.jpg)
Simpsons falling 2 (http://www.ayecarumba.net/graham/simpsfalling2.jpg)

Yeah they were great! I think it's very likely they'll use them again - they had several they used for South Park (back in the day).

We get Fox Kids, Fox News and FX - but no Fox channels that show OFF.
Only 4 and Sky One show The Simpsons (Sky is owned by Murdoch anyway, so it's practically Fox).

Sky : usually 2 a night, sometimes more.
C4 : none, yet, but Monday-Thursday they're set to air 1 episode and on Friday two (one a 6 and one at 9)

CHANNEL FOUR INFO

They now have a fairly good site www.channel4.com/simpsons

On there episode guide it has seasons 2,3,4,5,6,11&12.

This suggests that they have rights to season 6. I thought it was all of them seasons above bar season 6.

I suppose they are splitting the seasons in half between Sky and C4

C4: 2,3,4,5,6,11+12
Sky: 1,7,8,9,10,13,14+15

Sky have an extra season but thats becuase you cant half 15 seasons. And with Season one having 13 episodes it all adds up to around half. Also Wezzo has updated the Sky listings (as we know from this thread) but he has also added the upcoming C4 epsiodes for the next three weeks.

matt228

We don't have the information about new episodes in December yet, but I assume there will be 2.

Also, I knew pretty much all of the above data, but other people posted first! :D

Rupert Murdoch is a "billionaire tyrant" according to Sunday, Cruddy Sunday, and my grandad says he is an evil man!

Such a shame Channel 4 will be airing S2 first (then we can assume they will air S3-5 next, plus S6 if they actually have it, and then S11)...considering S2-S5 are available on DVD (well, S5 will be here about February probably).

In most ways, I think it it great to air the episodes in order, but the only thing bad is, we have to watch S2-S5 before we get to S11...S4-S5 are excellent, but S2-S3 were repeated to hell by BBC2.

I only hope that The Simpsons isn't completely axed by C4 whilst Big Brother is on...they'll probably move it from 6 to 5:30, and 9 to 9:30 (or 10 - Will and Grace will be 9:30 probably)

George Cauldron
11-07-2004, 01:57 AM
Well, by the time Big Brother is on, they'll have stopped showing "new" airings of Season Twelve, and I doubt they would start screening Season Thirteen until this time next year, so a break for Big Brother seems plausible, given the fact that they can still show repeats of The Simpsons at 6pm.

And given the fact that when Big Brother aired last year it never interupted their new broadcasts of Friends. Big Brother airs at 20:30 and 22:00 on Fridays. It doesn't interfere with the Simpsons timeslot at all. And C4 will probably air reruns at 9pm after S12 has finished and/or until they air S13.

Isnt BBLB (Big Brother's Little Brother) usually on at 6pm weekdays though? If thats the case, surely they'll bump Simpsons on at 5.30, as someone already speculated. I can't see it going to 6.30s cause of Hollyoaks, they would move that (I dont imagine, could be wrong).

Big Brother's Little Brother airs weekdays at 6pm, and Big Brother airs 10pm every day except Sunday (9pm) and Friday at 8:30pm and 10pm.

I was the one who said they'd move it to 5:30. I realised after the posts that it wouldn't interfere with the S13...I reckon they'll start S13 a few weeks after S12 ends. I like BB, but The Simpsons is just something else, it defeats all other shows...Malcolm in the Middle, Friends, Futurama, Little Britain and Bo' Selecta! aren't quite as good...

Since C4 have put so much into getting the show, they probably will try and get the next seasons (S13, then S14 etc) relatively quickly. I reckon that in about 2 year's time, they'll be only 1 or 2 seasons behind... :D

Well, aside from that mishap with the opening credits, it seems that Channel 4 is treating the show with a fair amount of respect, then. Why would they remove the text in the Treehouse of Horror XI opening? Because they think the viewers can't read Roman numerals? Because it's no longer Halloween?

Heh heh...it's a total mystery...I'm beginning to wonder whether C4 obtained a copy of the episode that didn't have the title or TV text in, because that's the only reason I can think of...or they could have been testing their episode cutting skills...!

And yeah, I was really surprised they showed the THOH at that time, considering XI is one of the more violent THOHs ever made. It was still completely uncut. Aside from the really long ad breaks, I'm beginning to really like seeing OFF on Channel 4 (although NOTHING beats BBC2!)

What is even more a mystery is how could they obtain a copy where you can clearly see the background without text covering it? I'm no "animation director", but wouldn't it be very hard to edit text that covers half the screen out and be able to perfectly see behind it?

George Cauldron

I guess the opening scenes are animated, and the title writing superimposed later on when all is done.

Blythy
11-07-2004, 02:07 PM
you could theoretically build a background in photoshop out of it, but it was probably cut out and shown without.

There is some editing software I believe where you can cut moving objects in the foreground out and have the still background rebuilt from previous frames.

Rowdy Roddy Peeper

Instead of editing the writing, i think they just used the same animation without the included writing.

Did anyone see 'Bart Gets An 'F'' on there, they handled it normal and well.

I like the way C4 waits for the screen to go black before they cut into an ad break, instead of Sky fading into the cloud image in the last 2 secs of the act. It just makes it that much easier to tape.

www.skyprogrammeinformation.co.uk

It's actually quite confusing. Sky haven't updated their press release yet to confirm this schedule. I'm assuming they're waiting for a bit more information on 'Sleeping With the Enemy'. Their weekly schedule has been amended though with 'AFIOW' on the 21st and 'SWTE' on the 28th. They still haven't rescheduled 'TOH XV'. I remember though that Sky did this with season 12 back in 2000. 'A Tale of Two Springfields' was the first episode to be shown followed a week later by 'Insane Clown Poppy'. 'Treehouse of Horror XI' was the third episode of season 12 to be shown by Sky so I'm assuming 'Treehouse of Horror XV' will be shown on 5th December.

An update on the above message, if you click on this link you'll see that Sky has officially confirmed that 'All's Fair in Oven War' is the season premiere:
