I forgot to mention it last time, but good to see HOMR without its three edits last night. Hadn't seen the F*cked up sign, The Disney Store sign, or the ....mumbo-jumbo thing that Homer said as Moe pushed the crayon up his nose (what was wrong with that last one for Sky to cut it out anyway?)

Butters
12-29-2004, 12:32 PM
Perhaps Sky objected to showing Moe shove a crayon up Homer's nose using just his hands.

What the hell is a "pusillanimous pilsner pusher" anyway?

George Cauldron
12-29-2004, 12:35 PM
Well, "pusillanimous" means cowardly, "Pilsner" is lager, and a "pusher" is presumably someone who pushes someone or something.

Here are the original HOMR Sky One cuts:
(cuts are in Royal Blue)
CUT 1:
(Episode opens to the Springfield Civic Centre.)
(A marque reads "TOTALLY SICK, TWISTED, F***ED UP ANIMATION FESTIVAL")
REASON: The word "F***ED" (even though on Treehouse of Horror IX, the word "fuck" is bleeped like on Jerry Springer many times.

CUT 2:
Homer : Is there no place for the man with the 105 I.Q?
(Homer walks forward over a black-ground [like in various other episodes] as signs fly behind him. "Smart People Not Welcome", "Dum-Dum Club", "Lunkheadz, A Place For Drooling" and then "Disney Store". Homer reaches the "Screaming Monkey Research Centre" and walks in.)
REASON: Copyright.

CUT 3:
(Lisa discovers her "Powder-Blue" crayon is missing.)
Lisa : Oh no! He wouldn't...
(Cut to Moe's.)
Moe : Tell me when I hit the sweet spot.
Homer : Deeper, you pusillanimous pilsner pusher!
(Moe gets out a small hammer and chisel and starts digging the crayon in with them.)
REASON: "Tell me when I hit the sweet spot." and "Deeper," could be implied as sexual references.

If The Disney Store is copyrighted, why didn't that stop Sky showing the Springfield Mall with a Disney Store reference in The Dad Who Knew Too Little?

If The Disney Store is copyrighted, why didn't that stop Sky showing the Springfield Mall with a Disney Store reference in The Dad Who Knew Too Little?
I don't actually think it is copyrighted in that they can't display it, I just think that they didn't wanted to get into trouble for using it. Channel 4 didn't blank it out, so I guess Sky could put it back in when they retrieve S12.

Butters
12-30-2004, 03:09 AM
The show used the Disney logo in the sense that The Disney Store is only for stupid people, Sky didn't want to get in trouble with Disney so they removed it. At least, that's why I think the Disney store in The Dad Who Knew Too Little didn't get took out. Either that or Sky didn't pay enough attention to The Dad Who Knew Too Little.

Remember Tonight- The voice of Lisa Simpsons (Y Smith) will be on SkyOne at 8-9. Could be worth a watch.

Butters- Just out of intrest (as I like your opinions) do you have a season rankings list. And where do U put 15 on your list. Also as your a S3 nut. What your favourite episode from. Secondly what your 2nd best Season. Sorry for the questions just be intrested to know

George C: I`m anouther fan of your opinions, where does 15 rank for you?

Getting sort of off-topic here, but...
3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10.

Best Season 3 episode would be Flaming Moes or Saturdays of Thunder.

Since I wouldn't be here for the premiere of Fat Man and Little Boy, could someone watch out to see if Homer's T-shirt is blanked:
http://www.springfieldparadise.com/resume/fabf21/171.jpg
Doubt it will be blanked, but it's still worthy to look-out for. Considering it's seen for quite a while Sky may think it needs to be removed.

I have something worth posting...the C4 Simpsons Mini-site now lists;

Sunday 2 Jan 05 / 18:00
Homr (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/S/simpsons/episodeguide/episode.jsp?cid=38325&episode=9)
Sunday 2 Jan 05 / 18:30
Pokey Mom (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/S/simpsons/episodeguide/episode.jsp?cid=38325&episode=10)

That means, obviously, that we're getting a repeat of Pokey Mom, contrary to what SNPP says.

George C: I`m anouther fan of your opinions, where does 15 rank for you?

I thought it was an improvement but still nothing special. Although we had some stronger plotting and characterisation, the episodes tended to be bland more often than not, and not all that funny (several episodes aside). I'd rank it in the upper regions of the bottom half of the seasons. It's better than seasons 10-12, and (arguably) just better than 13 and 14 but nowhere near the quality of Seasons 1-9.

C4 Schedule from www.onthebox.com (http://www.onthebox.com/), not counting stuff on SNPP;

7th January:

Kamp Krusty (8F24 - Bart and Lisa quickly discover that Kamp Krusty does not live up to its promises, and at home, Homer and Marge are getting on great without the kids)at 18:00

*NEW* Worst Episode Ever (CABF08 - Bart and Milhouse take control of the Android's Dungeon when the Comic Book Guy has a heart attack)at 21:00

9th January: Repeat of Worst Episode Ever

10th and 11th January: Pages aren't loading for me for some reason - will fill in this gap when I get the listings

12th January: Lisa The Beauty Queen (9F02 - Lisa is entered in a beauty pageant by Homer after an artist draws an ugly picture of her)

13th January: Treehouse of Horror III (9F04 - The Simpsons swap horror stories at a Halloween party; In "Clown Without Pity", Homer discovers that Bart's new Krusty doll doesn't like him; "King Homer" parodies King Kong; and finally, in "Dial 'Z' For Zombies", Bart accidentally raises the undead.)

EDIT: C4 have decided to air an unexpected repeat of Pokey Mom.

According to TV guides, the Sky on-screen guide, Channel 4's Simpsons Microsite and In4mer (Channel 4's official programming and scheduling site - which is where I pointed Wezzo in the direction of for SNPP listings), Homr will be repeated on Sunday 2nd January at 18:00.

According to TV guides, the Sky on-screen guide, and In4mer ), an episode of Friends airs at 18:30 on Sunday 2nd January (S6 episode The One Where Phoebe Runs).
But, Channel 4's Simpsons Microsite says that Pokey Mom airs at 18:30, NOT Friends, as stated by everywhere else.

I'm not quite sure who to believe. I'll be taping whichever ones air (and anticipating my first ever viewing of Pokey Mom if it airs).

If Pokey Mom doesn't air, then when will it be repeated? It doesn't make much sense to repeat one episode of the new to terrestrial season and not the other.

A few people (including me) in the Android's Dungeon thread for season 5 have imported Region 1 to the UK, this is the first time I have so for a Simpsons set, but I can assure you you won't be disappointed. Definitely the best menus so far, loads of deleted scenes (though a large proportion of them were right to be deleted, they're still interesting), and a loads of great episodes. I haven't laughed as much as I did during Treehouse of Horror IV, for ages. I'll try and get some screenshots up for the benefit of R2 buyers who want to see what they're waiting for.

Well i watched 2 acts of 'Fat Man And Little Boy' and then my Sky + went 'Loss of signal. End of recorded programme' which is bullplop since it's not even rainign at the moment.
However, i have very mixed thoughts about the episode so far. The first 5 minutes was possibly the unfunniest of the season so far, i don't think i laughed once. However, the 2nd act was really good and possibly one of the funniest acts of the seaosn so far. However, i'm unfortunate not to have caught the 3rd act, so does anybody know where i can download it from a site? I don't want to download it via downloading a program like Kazaa or Torrent. I want to download it from a site.

However, another point is the same kinda thing happened on Friday i was ready to tape Season 12's 'Worst Episode Ever' when i couldn't find my S12 tape, so i got annoyed then realised i have another chance, as it's repeated on Sundays. So sure thing i found the tape and got another chance to record it and which i did. So who thinks Sky should repeat the new episode? Probably not in a good timeslot if they don't like it, but possibly like a 12:30 Tuesday night thing, just so people like me can record/view it again if they miss it.

I thought Fat Man And Little Boy was quite good to begin with, then got very odd towards the middle. I became confused as to which story was the main plot. Also, at the end, it was left very open and inconclusive. Apart from that, Homer building the nuclear reactor was excellent and so was Bart's midlife crisis at the beginning. I also enjoyed Eric Idle's second appearance. I will watch it again before I rate it.

Something which I thought was odd was that they didn't go for a break at the end of the first act in Separate Vocations - the "Act II: Death Drives A Stick" bit - imo this would have been a perfect place to go for a break...

(Though I have to say it was funny on the non-advertising BBC when they had stuff like that, or anything which sets itself up for an advert break)

What did people think of 'Tennis The Menace'?

Well, when it first aired i thought it was a really good episode, however on this most recent viewing i was dissapointed how it didn't live up to my earlier viewings. It just felt very flat and disjointed. Also Homer's characterization was pretty much all over the place and the episode didn't flow at all. I guess the best parts were the gags, but even then some of them felt very immature and unoriginal. Also, i couldn't get used to how awful the animation colouring looked. With the white outlines, oooh it was horrible. So glad Season 14 + didn't turn out like that. I didn't actually mind the celebrities too much since they were hardly in the episode, and they did have actually something to do with the theme of the episode for once.

2.5/5

Wow, no one at all noticed that THOH III was cut on C4?

Just finished watched Treehouse Of Horror 3. It has noticable slowdown to
scenes with flashes in them.
- In opening titles, the title card is noticably
slowed.
- Still in the opening, the shots of the graveyard are
slowed down. Some footage may have been removed
because of the slowdown.
- In "King Homer" the photography flashes has been
slowed down. It the sequence may have been shortened.

And, Fat Man and Little Boy was uncut. Yeah... you waited two weeks for that... sorry...

Oooh....If I remember rightly, the VHS tape with $pringfield (Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Legalized Gambling) was a PG. So do you think the episode itself has been upgraded to a 12, or is there something exclusive to that multi-angle showcase that makes it a little more adult?

So....let's say Season 5'll be a 12. I can imagine the same for Season 6 (A Star Is Burns, Homer Badman), Season 9 (Trash of the Titans), and Season 11 (Treehouse of Horror X) definitely. Along with any season featuring an episode with the word "wanker" in it, so add Missionary Impossible (11) to the list, as well as 14, from I'm Spelling As Fast As I Can, with Weekend at Burnsie's' drug topics making Season 13 a possible 15....

Paul

Season 13 being a 15 would suck so much. I hate that an entire box set has to be given a higher rating because of one episode. It's the same with Friends for season 4, because of one episode involving free porn.

Hmmm.

I had to go out on the day C4 were airing Black Widower, and just now I got a chance to see the tape I got recorded.

Now, the tape is mainly fine, but in the opening sequence, it just suddenly fades out (TV snow) during the "Aaaah...Simpsons" part, then the TV snow continues up to the Marge Supermarket part, then fades out up to Homer driving, then fades out again, then it's fine starting with the driveway.

Anyone else had this problem?

$pringfield's Animation Showcase received a 12, because it is the original story boards and animatics etc. Some bits were cut out (I'm thinking of the "Hitler's Birthday" scene...). There may be an episode (or more) in season 5 that could warrant a 12 anyway...

"Hitler's Birthday" was in Viva Ned Flanders. I suppose that in the animatic/storyboards there may have been a dirty sight-gag or something that didn't make it to the episode. Or, they could've upped the certificate for $pringfield. Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 1 used to be a "PG", but recently it became a "U", the same could've happened with this episode.

I'm going to resist temptation. Reasons?
1) I've never d/l any episodes before.
2) I have patience until 30th January.
3) I haven't got broadband yet (next week or week after; we've ordered AOL Broadband Silver, and cancelled Wanadoo Dial-Up, but we're not sure when they give us the Broadband thingy yet)

Havn't seen "Day Of The Jackanapes" in a little while, so yes I for one am looking forward to it. It's actually a pretty decent episode.

Three Things I like about the episode:
*Homer's line about being at the Gardening Shop
*Cops at Krusty Burger - Wiggum stealing Lou's Toy (maybe Eddie's) and Bob training Bart outside the window
*The scene in the shed and the fact Bart isn't concerned that it's Bob.

As far as waiting until January 30th to watch "Midnight RX" is concerned, Yes I probably will just wait. For the first time ever I decided to watch an episode before it was shown on SKY ("Fatman and Little Boy" in December) and for some reason felt guilty.

When season 12 ends, they'll probably replace the 9pm slot for a while, but they'll show season 13 later in the year, I'm sure. At the moment, they have rights to seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, 11 and 12 (one person here said that they can only aquire them once a year - I doubt this, but even if they could, they might gain seasons 13-14 later this year so they can close the gap between Channel 4's "new" episodes and Sky One's new episodes).

Anyone else hear about Fahrenheit 9/11 airing at the end of January on C4? Big importance since it was at the cinemas last year wasn't it?

Yeah. We can assume that Channel 4 will continue season 4 at 6pm, then continue into season 5.
Remember, Channel 4 schedules are available 3 weeks in advance at In4mer (sometimes Wezzo can't get them 3 weeks from In4mer because they have faults or something). The info came late this week.

I don't think Channel 4 will jump straight into Season 13 after 12. I'm pretty sure they'll always be about four years behind. At the rate of one a week, it will take them about 6 months to air one Season, so I assume there will be a gap of a few months (maybe not as much as 6 though) before Season 13.

Also kinda off-topic: does anyon know what's happening with South Park on Sky One and Channel 4? C4 never seem to show it anymore, and Sky only show the odd episodes (not in a regular timeslot). I don't know how long it is since they've shown a new episode (last one I saw was Christmas In Canada which was last Season's I think).

Anyway, looks like C4 are receiving the original copies of episodes (like Sky, unlike BBC). So their copies will not suffer from any editting done by FOX (Snow in 'Tis, "Hitler's Birthday", you know, that stuff).

Oh, they cut the "porn" line again? Bastards. Wonder if when the first use of "bastard" in a non-proper context comes if they'll cut it? (Rosebud, innit?) And I assume that the only reason it remained cut was because the can't obtain a new un-editted copy of the episode? (this is a problem that the BBC suffered a lot with the show)

What I meant is C4 obtained the copy of the episode, uncut, they removed the line and ended up with that as their only copy (without the line). When I brought BBC 2 into it I was saying that the same thing happened with their copies.

- It was at one point shown on their mini-site episode guide
- Sky are not showing any S6 episodes according to SNPP

ARGUMENT AGAINST C4 HAVING S6:

- It was withdrawn from their mini-site episode guide later
- Wezzo recieved an e-mail saying they have 2, 3, 4, 5, 11 and 12

Well, guess we'll have to wait 'n' see.

Midnight RX - 1/5. Utter rubbish. Really lame jokes, horrible Homer pain-gags (which we all love) and that horrible Burns/Smithers thing. The only good part was when Homer wanted to be an actor on Friends ("Aye, so you're all doing each are ye? Well, whose gonna put out for ol' Seamus?"). Perhaps if they stuck with the Homer/Abe/Apu/Flanders part more it would've been more enjoyable.

Channel 4 won't get Season 13 until the end of the year. I think it's in the contract that they must stay 4 years behind sky. I think they might run double bills until the season ends, or put Scrubs in the 9:30 slot (they still haven't shown season 3 annoyingly)

And whoever mentioned Farenheit 9/11, it's on so soon because it's not distributed by a major film distributor and so can bypass sky if needs be. Also it's (pretty) topical thus may be less interesting in 3/4 years time when Bush will almost be out of office. Bowling for Culumbine went straight to c4 after it's dvd release as well

The Beeb never lost ratings with their repeats.

Plus, this would leave Sky One with S1, S13, S14, S15 and S16, and there's really only so much even Sky can do with 85 episodes.

Butters
01-27-2005, 12:11 PM
The way Sky make it seem they only have 85 episodes. There are some that are rarely ever shown (many Season 6 episodes have been shown no more than 4 times since 2002 when they got the rights to that season back) and show some so many times it's like pain. (Grade School Confidential, Mountain of Madness). Why don't Sky realize that if they air them in order like the BBC and C4 that there is a possibility of more ratings? (I mean, many people will tune out if they constantly show the same episodes over and over again)

Oh, who has the rights to Season 10? I assume Sky will be getting them soon, but who has them now exactly?

We now know that C4 will be showing Season 4 after Season 5, so it's obvious which episodes they're gonna show, and http://www.snpp.com/upcoming/uk.html is mostly kept updated. Why not post a week's worth in one post or something?

Anyway, did anyone notice they kept the pornography line in Marge Vs. The Monorail, even though it was still cut in Mr. Plow? The listings for Valentine's special on SNPP are "preliminary", and RadioTimes appears to be a reliable source, so anyway;

It appears that the 12th of February will not have a Valentine's special, instead, The Day the Violence Died and Hurricane Neddy will air.

It looks like the Valentine's special will go ahead for 13th February, with one change; Natural Born Kissers is being replaced with Grade School Confidential. They seem to like that episode...that or they want to torture their viewers.

About half of the gun fight scene was cut. After McBain breaks out of the ice, he starts firing and kills a few people. It then cuts to everyone dead around the table. I noticed this cut because the part where someone's eating a piece of cake, then is shot, the someone else grabs it (then that guy is shot too IIRC) wasn't there. This may have also been cut either on BBC or Sky at some point.

It seems quite likely that they'll pretty much continue straight through every episode (like up to Season 9 or something). BTW, do Channel 4 have the rights to Season 10? That hasn't been shown on Sky for ages either.

Sweet to see Season 5 starting next week :D

While we're on the subject of cuts, I've never seen the dedication in memory of Phil Hartman in Bart the Mother, on either Sky One or BBC2. Surely this is a cut, and an unjust cut at that?

I'm positive I've seen it...was this episode on one of those video compilations? That might've been where I saw it.

Neither channel has made note of having S10, but if C4 were bluffing on S6, then chances are they might have that too.

Oh and Scott, Bart the Mother was never on DVD or video.

The chances are, Channel 4 will buy season 13 within the next few months, or get seasons 13 and 14 later in the year.

And don't say that they can only buy then at the end of the year, since Sky One bought a lot of the seasons throughout the middle of the year when BBC2 lost them.

If I've got my calculations correct, C4 should start airing S6 on the 10th of March.

It'll be interesting to see if they get the direct-to-television opening of Sideshow Bob Roberts...is there any reason why the Openings document on SNPP gives it as the Very Short Opening, but the capsule gives a couch gag?

I've never seen it with a couch gag. Even the Complete Guide doesn't list it as having a couch gag. I think that was how the episode originally aired. I think the SNPP document is...this instance, incorrect.

The BBC's episode guide lists it as having a couch gag, but they might have got that off SNPP.

That or they got the copy with the Very Short Opening, discarded the opening and replaced it with another?

I hope Channel 4 don't advertise season 11 as "new to terrestrial" since it aired through twice on BBC2...

I wonder when they get up off their arses and buy season 13 from Sky...like I said, probably in the next few months they'll get season 13 or at the end of the year they'll get seasons 13 and 14...They won't stay 4 years behind forever...Probably just 2 years...

They won't what? They won't stay 4 seasons behind? I agree!
