THOH 12 was as bad as ever. We have something meh but quite harmless save a few cringeworthy moments, something that isn't Halloweenish at all and what appears to be an excuse to be as violent as possible. With dolphins. Might put it in at the next NHC Bottom 50 Episodes Competition, I think.
Now you're making the same mistake as Adam R! C4 just showed Season 12's THOH XI or 11, not THOHXII (12). That's in Season 13!:silly:

Was the episode 'Homr' that aired yesterday cut by Channel 4?
e.g. was the marque at the beginning of the episode that reads "TOTALLY SICK, TWISTED, F***ED UP ANIMATION FESTIVAL" edited, or were any other parts removed?
Thanks - I wasn't able to see the episode.

Bad News: Channel 4 STILL have no plans to air Season 13 and they'll repeat Season 1 again once Season 12 has finished, starting on 6th July. :(
No, I don't think there are any lightning flashes in the opening. Theories from the start of the thread:
- Error in transmission
- They think the viewers can't read Roman numerals
- Because it's no longer Halloween
- They were given an episode with the TV and title blanked out for some reason
- They were given a foreign version of the episode, where the text at the start would be blanked out for text in the proper language (could be what's up with Insane Clown Poppy's blackboard gag. Come to think of it, will Insane Clown Poppy still have that same awful cut into the break, I wonder...)
- They were testing their episode cutting skills

ANTI-ENGLISH MEMBER INVASION! EXTERMINATE!
All extremely poor Doctor Who references aside, we're not up to the end of Big Brother yet, are we? So, as already speculated, the worst programme in the world could end, then we could have S13 and S14 at the same time, which might mean that C4 would then (eventually) catch up...

^Let's not get our hopes up.
If c4 keep delaying, their going to be over 5 years behind sky which is just appaling and outrageous.
And they'd be in danger of eventually showing new episodes after they'd been released on DVD, especially if they keep delaying and Fox keeps releasing 2 seasons a year.

Big Bother (not a typo).
How clever and original ;-/
Anyway Hungry, Hungry Homer was on tonight and they have a really crap commercial cut that they continue to use for some reason. It's in the bar, just after Homer says about 'helping out the little guy'. It cuts right after that and before Lenny enters. It seems very sudden and it cuts Homer off a tiny bit. C4 should try and fix that. The act break isn't long after that.
Nameless
06-27-2006, 12:51 PM
That's where it actually cuts to the adverts in the US, so I suppose we only have whoever decides the commercial spots to blame.
Of course, I didn't actually watch the episode, but for the last few airings the break was spot on, so it's entirely possible that they decided to move it to a few seconds earlier for some reason...
Adamm R)))
06-27-2006, 12:55 PM
C4 decide the commercial cuts don't they? Because sometimes they wait until the end of act 2 to have it. I don't think it did move, because it was like that on the last airing (Christmas Day, I believe), I exagerated a little. But it just doesn't seem right to me.

As Nameless said, that is the actual act break. On my downloaded copy after Homer says "cos that's the kind of guy I am this week" there's a little pizzicato string sound and quick fadeout, it almost looks like a bad cut anyway.
What was the break you were thinking of?

Wettest Stories seemed pretty pointless. The stories were boring. Marge's comment about the second story made me smile, because it's normally true. The only joke that made me laugh was the 'land ho' bit. Overall not great. Plus, did anyone see all the publicity the last Malcolm In The Middle was getting? Anyway, I'm a bit annoyed about this (even though, I'm not sure why we're commenting on this now, because we've known this for weeks), I like to watch The Simpsons on C4, because I'm normally eating then. When I've seen all of these episodes so many times on DVD, it seems a bit pointless.
And by the way, for anyone that doesn't normally visit the NHC City Hall, the NHC Map (http://www.nohomers.net/vbgooglemapme.php) is up, so add yourself if you want, because the UK is pretty empty at the moment.

Wow, bootsales rock.
I saw a video at one today that said 'Simpsons' on it (written in pen on a blank label), decided to buy it (bought it with about four other videos for £1) and it was a heck of a lot older than I thought it was - it's taped off Sky One, and looking at a schedule guide the date is the 29th October 1995!!
I didn't have Sky at the time, or indeed had seen a single Simpsons episode, but it's really great to see what the show was like on the channel before there was competition from BBC2/Channel 4. It was near Halloween so the two episodes are Treehouse of Horror III and IV. There's also some other shows on the tape including Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, as well as loads of adverts (including ones plugging virtually every games console around and the UK TV premiere of Jurassic Park), which bring back memories. The break bumper is different, too, being a still of the Simpsons opening instead of animated like it is now (anyone know when it changed? Had done so by 1998), and it's a man instead of a woman announcing. And no on-screen logo!

Hello, my fellow Britons! Though I haven't been posting in this thread very much, rest assured that I have been looking through it time and time again. Anyway, I haven't been watching much Simpsons (aside from the new episodes on Sky and the occasional episode here and there). Naughty me. Right, well, the purpose of this is that for the first time in a long long time, I watched The Simpsons on Channel 4 on Friday. I noticed that it wasn't sponsored by Pizza Hut anymore. When did the sponsorship end? (Apologies if this had already been mentioned and I just plain forgot about it). Perhaps viewers were getting fed up of seeing the same old episodes and no new ones, and turned off in droves, prompting Pizza Hut to terminate their sponsorship?

Anybody realise C4 switching Bart The Genius and There's No Disgrace Like Home? My theory is that they moved There's No Disgrace Like Home to 7/7 because Bart The Genius contains a train crash and an explosion and they couldn't show Homer's Odyssey because it has a suicide theme. Both of these probably would've been deemed unappropriate on the anniversary of the 7/7 bombings. Sounds a little over sensitive, I know, but C4 are probably being extra careful after they were under fire for that New Orleans thing.
Simpsons Forever!
07-11-2006, 02:35 PM
^I can see why they swapped Bart The Genius around for 7th July anniversary, but did it air today, anyway? Because of what happened in India today, C4 could be in even more trouble for showing that scene than if they had stuck to 7th July.

The lack of adverts and more professional cutting made BBC2 much better than C4.
I can't believe C4's editing sometimes, there was an episode of Lost the other week that cut to an advert break half a second into the titles (the bit when the big LOST comes on screen). And they always go to breaks right in the middle of scenes.

^Well I thought it wasn't long, but then they've added in 5 more housemates, so numbers are pretty high. I think there's 10 housemates at the moment and they need to whittle it down to 4 for the final, so there's probably seven weeks more. But that's only if they stick to schedule, which they won't since they added so many new housemates in, there's probably double evictions planned.
I'm sure you don't care about Big Brother though, so in short, about 6 Fridays left, at the very least.

Dunno if this has been mentioned before, but I pressed the 'i' button on my remote as an episode of The Simpsons was starting on Sky One earlier (it gives me the episode and a plot synopsis), and it said the episode was called 'Homer and the Heretic'. It turned out to be Homer and Ned's Hail Mary Pass, although I still hadn't seen it before (gotta be one of the most insane/wacky episodes ever. I can see why some like it and some hate it).
Anyone know why it listed a completely different title? Was it a working title or something?
Adamm R)))

I'm not sure, there are some different titles. Natural Born Kissers is always listed as "Margie, May I Sleep With Danger?" as far as I know. Also, I know Secrets Of A Successful Marriage had the last word ommitted for quite a while. And also on Midnight Rx, it still (I think) says 'new' on every airing before the title, as it does on new episodes.
None of that helpful, but worth pointing out :silly:

Look at Billy's post closer. He said Homer AND the Heretic. It could've been an original name, that was a call back to Homer The Heretic (much like Lisa Gets An 'A' was a call back to Bart Gets An 'F'), which actually would've been a better name IMO.

I am aware of what he posted and yes it could of been a call back, but then again it could just be Sky One being dumb and not only listing an episode incorrectly, but also screening the wrong episode too. It could happen.

The episode description matched that of Hail Mary Pass, stating that Michelle Kwan guest starred, etc.
The weird thing is that although 'Margie, May I Sleep With Danger' has been known as an alternate title for Natural Born Kissers for a while now, and is on Wikipedia, this Hail Mary Pass alternate title seems to be unknown by everyone. A Google search reveals a grand total of 0 results.

When S13 starts airing on C4, will anyone here actually watch it? Since it's been on Sky One before and most people will have seen it.
Adamm R)))

I will for sure.
1) I haven't seen most of these episodes since original airings
2) Being able to watch these in the comfort of my own room allows me to take in more. When I'm watching new episodes, everyone is talking in my living room and it's normally meal time around the time soon. Having season 13 shown on C4 will prevent this, especially if it's on at 9pm.

it'll be years before they're out on DVD.
Season 8 is out in September. If two are released every year (which is more or less what happens now), then season 9 and 10 will be out in 2007, seasons 11 and 12 in 2008 and seasons 13 and 14 in 2009. They'll have to slow down soon after that as they will catch up with TV!
I will be watching any episodes that I am free to watch - especially the ones I like such as Weekend at Burnsie's.

If we're assuming that following S13 C4 will go straight into S14, I think it's very unlikely that the complete seasons will come out before those seasons are aired on terrestrial.
Of course, if we're assuming that following S13 C4 WON'T go straight into s13, it's still very unlikely that the complete seasons will come out before those seasons are aired on terrestrial!

I doubt the seasons having not aired on terrestrial will make a difference, even if c4 haven't shown s13 by the time it's due for release in the US, after all 'Family Guy season 4' has been released before it's been shown anywhere in the U.K.

Speaking of humour, did anyone see The Law of the Playground? Quite good I thought - most of the things seemed to be right (I've still got another year of secondary left). SPOILER WARNING. If you do not wish to read about S13 (especially for those who have not seen it yet), DO NOT read this post.
Here's a list of cuts attributed to Season 13 when aired on Sky One. These episodes all aired before the watershed (9pm), so it'll be interesting to see which ones Channel 4 cut. If the double-bills start at 8:30pm perhaps they will cut the first one?
Treehouse of Horror XII
Act 2, when Marge tries to call the police
UltraHouse (Pierce Brosnan): This is constable Wiggum. We'll be right there. Please, take off your knickers and wait in the bath.
I Am Furious (Yellow)
Act 1, Willy and Seamus fight
Willy: Ach, ya speak like a poet, betcha punch like one too!
(Willy and Seamus start to fight.)
Seamus: Oh, ow, ya bastard!
Willy: Gah!
(Willy punches Seamus away.)
The Sweetest Apu
Act 1, during the Civil War re-enactment
Mayor Quimby: And now... let the battle be joined.
(Pan upwards as an Abraham Lincoln look-a-like shoots himself in the head. The battle commences.)
Lenny: Bang Bang!
Carl: Pow Pow!
Moe: Hit with stick!
(Moe hits a solider with a stick)
Moe : Ya bastard.
Act 3, Apu is about to hang himself
Apu: (tying noose) Over, under, round and round, so your feet won't touch the ground.
(Apu swings the noose over a pipe, it's ready to hang him.)
Apu: Now, let's see what a waits me in the next life. First I was a tiger, than a snake, then a goat, then me, next... oh a tapeworm... then, assistant to Lorne Michaels. Oh, it's going to be a rough couple of life times.
(Apu puts his head in the noose, as Manjula, Marge and Homer walk in.)
The Frying Game
Act 1, after Homer is caught attempting to kill the screamapillar
Judge Snyder: Homer Simpson, for attempted insecticide and aggravated buggery, I sentence you to 200 hours of community service.
Act 3, Homer is taken down the aisle about to be executed
Insane Prisoner: You can forget it, 'Cause I'm gonna kill you!
(Cut to Electric Chair)
(Homer is being strapped in. One guy pulls a sponge out of a bucket of water, he clenches it as water escapes. He then places it on Homer's head. Wiggum sheds a tear.)
Act 3, after a call from the governor
Yes Guy : The governor says he hopes you're a twitcher. Oh Yes!
Homer: Oh.
Wiggum: Chin up, Homer. 'Cause we gotta put an electrode there to ground the Brain Stem.
(Homer raises his head as Wiggum does what he just said.)
Wiggum: Thank you.
(Wiggum turns and puts his thumb up to the Officer at the lever.)
Act 3, a couple of seconds after the above cut
Marge : I'll always love you.
(The Officer pulls the lever, as Homer lets loose a loud scream.)
Officer : You're on frame-up!
Thanks very much to www.thebritsons.co.uk and it's fabulous webmaster Liam for the above information.

I think we'll get the episodes intact aside from any slowdowns on flashing scenes (no, not that sort of flashing!).
If my counting is correct and C4 continue to air double-bills then Weekend will be aired as the second part of a double-bill, so they might start the double-bill later in order to air it intact. I'll be very surprised if it makes it onto the T4 strand, though.

For what it's worth, I think Weekend at Burnsie's will get a 15 too. Some Family Guy episodes have been passed 15 based purely on drug references I seem to recall, and while they may be considered 'stronger' references, they're not as prolonged as the references in WAB, which drag through half the episode.

Although that's a possibility, I think it's more likely that they are showing a lot of season 14+ because they will be handing season 14 over soon (and therefore want to show it while they can). The complete lack of S8 episodes is perhaps because they are saving it for when they have to hand it over to Channel 4 (in a few months, perhaps?).

Please tell me I'm doing something wrong. I went on the C4 site to see if they had a schedule for the week after to see whether or not there would be another double bill and when I did go back to 25th August, season 13 had been replaced with a big fat TBC box.
http://www.channel4sales.com/schedules/home
Also it should be noted that there is no Simpsons on August 18th, as there is a live special of Big Brother's Little Brother.

Yes, they do seem to have replaced the 25th August double-bill with a TBC.
If they don't air it then there really is no reason at all.

I haven't seen any adverts for Season 13, either and it was mentioned somewhere that they would advertise heavily for the new season prior to its airing. With only (supposedly) two weeks to go, shouldn't they start alerting their viewers to the fact there is life after Big Brother?

I knew it was too good to be true. I think Big Bother realised it might be worth their while to bring back twenty-nine of the housemates that have already been evicted in order to prolong the show and get some more money out of the gullible idiots who phone in every week.
And Sky, get on with it, please. Show some new episodes for once. Though I must admit it's good to see mostly season seventeen episodes being shown all week since I forgot what happened in most of them.

whoa now, that's a bit hasty. it might just be an error on their part...possibly they rejigged the pre-simpsons schedule a bit but made a mistake whilst updating.
in our wildest dreams they're replacing it with the new spin-off show, "idiots who watch big brother get hung, drawn and quartered".
Rich Uncle Skeleton

Is there a reason why Sky are airing nothing but S14+ episodes for a month?
Their pitch was "every episode in August has never been shown on terrestrial".
Sky's constant negative advertising pisses me off. They really hate Channel 4 and it's subsiduaries. They're running a big counter-campaign to FilmFour going free, saying "all our movies don't have adverts". They even ripped off FilmFour's adverts.

Sorry about my hastiness. My TV guide also says that Big Brother will end next Friday (and about time too). I don't know if that means The Simpsons will actually be screened afterwards or not - I'm still guessing not, but at least this complete and utter rubbish will be off our screens for some time.
By the way, it was Big Brother that I was referring to as "complete and utter rubbish," and not The Simpsons Season 13.

You may remember me making this post a little while ago.
And by the way, since we were mentioning cuts earlier, do you think we need a new censorship site now that The Britsons is frozen? I'd like to see one, but I don't know who'd maintain it. I would be willing, but I have no experience of website building past Geocities and a little bit of Dreamweaver.
Well today, I recieved a respose to this from Butters:
"Hello NHC,
This is that handsome Butters fella who left you all months ago. I sure
showed that Hitler that us jews can live without message boards. I know many
of you 'regulars' in the UK thread probably threw your memberships away
after I left. I knew the board would go up in a riot after I left. But for
those of you left I've heard there has been talk about how my site is
literally a brick wall. (get it? 'cause I went off my head and give it a
brickwall background)
If anyone wants to make another website for censorship, you may feel free to
use all the information I had compiled at http://www.thebritsons.co.uk for
the first 16 seasons of the show. It is just about a complete listing of all
the censorship that was made in the first 16 seasons and 2 of the first
episodes of Season 16. (also to my understanding there was a cut made in a
recent episode about Marge having something written about God ...? I'm not
sure I have not seen the show since I watched that one episode where Lisa
snorted some cocaine off Nelson's back and started chasing Jimbo around the
school yard whipping him with a bike chain because she wanted a sack full of
buttplugs). Of course if anyone decides to use my information, I do require
some sort of credit (merely by my screenname 'Butters' or my other lesser
known name 'Sex God'). With that said, I think that my domain name expires
in the middle of September, so anyone wishing to do so might want to save
that information before October. If anyone wants to make a site, I suggest
that if scottvivian or simplysimpsons, if they still post, give you pointers
on the site you take them. As they're probably two of the best HTML editors
on the NHC... alright, I'll admit they're the only decent ones who viewed
the UK thread when I was on.
For those who have any interest at all in my life, you can feel free to
check at my even crapper blog where I rant about how I have a cute
girlfriend and you probably don't at http://blog.thebritsons.co.uk . It's
updates are a little seldom now, but I do intend to have a new complaint
about modern society up by the end of the week.
And I have one last question I need addressed to the NHC... is that
Veryjammy still a gay? If he is, I need to find out if it's common practice
amongst homosexuals to cum all over a photo of Alex Turner of the Arctic
Monkeys? I was not only worried about the fact that he was doing it over an
Arctic Monkey, but also the fact that he was doing it while he was live on
air on the radio.
- Butters. The King of Sex
P.S. For those wondering the Last.fm signature on my profile may display
music you wouldn't have thought a cool dude like I would listen to. You now
have confirmation that it isn't an error on behalf of Last.fm. It is in fact
the music of my cute girlfriend who I was just wanking off while thinking
of. (speaking of wanking off, I still think about Homer_Thompson in 1/3
wanks.)"
I'll make a thread in The Simpsons Web News or whatever it's called. To see who's interested. As I said before, I'm willing, yet I'm not too good at making sites. BTW, who mentioned that I said that to Butters anyway?

Has everyone seen the promos then? There was one during Big Brother last night. They picked a really shit, unfunny joke from The Frying Game. The bit where Homer delivers the meals on wheels to Crazy Jewish Man and Jewish guy asks where the cobbler is and says Homer smells like cobbler. Then Homer says lets not start getting into who smells like what. That's barely even a punchline, I don't know why they picked that joke out of everything in Season 13.
There was another really annoying one where they splice little bits of Season 13 episodes together to say The Simpsons On Channel 4 or something. Their adverts really suck.
matt228
08-15-2006, 06:02 AM
So far the promos have escaped me.
I watched the first four weeks of Big Brother, then I went cold turkey and stopped watching it. In the past two weeks, I've seen the live shows on the night Grace, Lea, Mikey and Nikki went back in, the episode Nikki actually went all the way back in, and assorted clips (Glyn on the roof, Grace's 21st etc). I'll probably watch the final on Friday, as my sister watches it and we're home alone this weekend - I'd rather watch it than be alone doing nothing...Nikki really annoys me.
"I'M SOOOOOOOOO COLD!!!!!!!! Whoever invented air-con, I want you to know I hate you. I HATE YOU!" ;-/
Rich Uncle Skeleton

I think we can all agree that BB sucks overall, but it is funny in small doses. I will watch the final, just to see Pete win (because he will, obviously, he's the only normal one in the house), and to see if Aishlene bitch-slaps Grace (or vice-versa).
Anyway onto a much better topic... I emailed Butters about the UK censorship site, asking if he was happy to let me take over and if he could send me all the pages to save me downloading them. He hasn't replied yet so I spent a while saving all the pages last night before the site disappears.
Is everyone happy for me to take over the list? I probably won't be able to put it up before September due to work at the mo (and a holiday next week), but if anyone has any additions (eg Season 17) or corrections to the list on http://www.thebritsons.co.uk then post them here, and I'll add them when the time comes.

They did that with S11+S12 episodes to advertise the launch night in '04 too. "Well haven't you heard, the Simpsons are coming to Channel 4, thanks for the tip-off" has to be worse than any of the Beeb's adverts for OFF.

I don't have Sky Movies, and all I have seen of the advert is the end, and my sister has told me about it. It is very pathetic. I think Sky Movies is a fair service for those who love their movies, since there are 10 screens with a vast choice, but the films they show are repeated to hell. It reminds me of Krusty's act in The Last Temptation Of Krust so dated and uninspired is the stuff they come out with.

I like it because it's all true! Most of people on it are great comedians. Charlotte Church could make or break her career with her show - somehow I think she won't be the best. Lots of "girlie girls" will watch it, so it'll get good ratings, however.

Still, they're not that funny because all of the stuff on there is completely generic and cliche like Veryjammy said. C4's Friday nights are really dying. I wish they'd put something good on, for example, Nikki, Chantelle and Jade Goody being hung for crimes against humanity. I may check out that "Best of the Worst" thing. For the sake of it. Anyway, at least we've got yet another series of 8 Out of 10 Cats in the autumn to look forward to. Isn't that the third series this year? Anyway, pretty much all TV is pretty poor at the moment, I don't think I'd even turn on if it weren't for new Scrubs.

That's the sort of thing that appeals to very casual viewers (of which there are millions), so they'll show it.
You're right, too. They just showed a clip of Moe getting pecked in the groin by an eagle.

People can think it's generic and cliched but I still enjoy it.
"Best of the Worst" sounds good. Is "8 Out of 10 Cats" back in autumn? I wasn't expecting it until December.

According to last night's BB special, they'll be back in the autumn.

Wow, I hate 8 Out Of Ten Cats. . . .sorry, I find it all looks to rehearsed. Best of Worst might be good though.

Aisleyne to win!
Erm, anyway....
oh well coming 3rd and top women isn't bad.
Yeah 8 Out of 10 cats is usually ok, but last nights, was so overly scripted because of the nature of the show, pathetic and embarassing.
Law of the Playground is also awful, to think that Channel 4 used to be good.

Yeah, agreed, pretty poor if you ask me. So anyway, I assume Pete won...

I shuddered at how predictable and badly cut together the Jane burb was *shudder once more*. Was slightly redeemed by the ripping of Nikki (*cough*twat*cough*)

8 Out of 10 Cats was good last night, I thought. Apart from Jayne and Eugene's presence (Jayne is horrid and Eugene is pointless), it was good fun. What's wrong with "Law of the Playground"? People say the things they say are "generic" and "cliched", but that's perhaps because it's all true, and even if they say that it's still funny.

Those tv dinners are pretty lousy eh? And how come men always leave the toilet seat up?

Iain Lee: I remember, I was the lanky guy that no one wanted to talk to, not like today....... oh.
I actually saw one of the guys that contributes to this, and has some other show going on at the moment in the street, christian o'connel . I didn't say anything, I just sort of stared him, trying to decide if It was definatley him. It was probably quite odd for him, having someone intently narrowing his eyes at him.
The worst bit about this show was Justin Lee-Collins doing some bit about
"Why do we have to put our chairs, on the tables at the end of the day"
"IT'S TO MAKE THINGS EASIER FOR THE CLEANERS, YOU STUPID CUNT"

It does seem strange that we should have to do jobs for the cleaners when they are paid to do this, though.

^That's an understable enough thing to say if you're talking about being forced to crawl around the floor picking up microscoping pieces of paper, but moving chairs isn't too much and I'm sure that's not in the cleaner's job description.

Wow, The Regina Monologues was right, are country is so small that we have "celebrities" walking down the streets all the time.

They often do make us do this, even when we didn't put them there.

I enjoyed that episode, but I'm clearly in a minority. I agree that the celebrities were introduced in a ridiculous manner but I don't think the episode was meant to be taken too seriously - it was primarily to show the family in a new environment and get lots of publicity by getting Tony Blair on the show.
