Very close decision here, but I chose Star Fox 64. This was a choice of the best of one series versus the start of another series. Now it's true that the Star Fox series as a whole has nothing on The Legend of Zelda series, but when the pieces come together as well as they do in a game like SF64, it's hard to ignore.

Didn't like LoZ as a kid... got over it enough to complete the game last year, but the memory remains.

I know I'm one of only like three people who think this, but I've always felt Star Fox 64 was the flawed one of the first two Star Fox games. As a pure shooter it's very lightweight when compared to its SNES sibling, nevermind a shmup like the Gradius series or Ikaruga, with it seemingly going out of its way to water down every challenge possible for the wimpiest of gamers (while still boasting a "challenge" by earning medals ;-/ ). Nor does it have any of the artistic aspirations of Rez either.
Its voice acting, cinemas, and sci-fi references/parodies give it some campy appeal, and I guess the rumble pack make it somewhat groundbreaking. Plus being able to often switch paths between levels give replays more variety. But even as far as 3D N64 shooters are concerned Rogue Squadron beats it, and it certain doesn't deserve to beat the original Zelda.
I didn't really like the Zelda series until OoT came out.
Star Fox 64 was the best in the series. I played that game countless hours, there were a few routes you could take to beat the game, and the 4 player mode kicked ass as well.

Original Zelda -- easily.

StarFox 64 is one of the few single-player games I can play over and over again, and never get bored with it. I spent an insane amount of time in college trying to exceed my roommate's high scores, as well as seeing how fast I can take down Star Wolf.
It's a close call, but I have to go with StarFox.

Sums it up for me.

I know the competition is getting tighter but I'm suprised this vote is so close. The original Zelda has the potential to go all the way to the finals in my opinion... suprised Star Fox is putting up such a fight.

Opened the closed poll because we need a tiebreaker, folks. Someone make it happen.
