Do I pick what is arguably the greatest Mario game of all time, or what is arguably the greatest Metroid game of all time? Do I pick what is arguably the greatest NES game of all time, or what is arguably the greatest Super NES game of all time? Decisions, decisions.....

In my opinion, either one of these games could have won it all in the end, but I'll go with Super Mario Brothers 3 (it's a close call though).

Mario 3 might be the best platformer ever. Well, maybe until Mario World came out. still, gotta go with Mario 3 on this one.

Super Metroid is my vote, it's a really fun and lengthy adventure.

SMB3 is great too, and it's one of a few reasons why The Wizard was a movie worth seeing.

This is a matter of pure fanboyness. As far as their strengths go in terms of gameplay, presentation, and reputation they're both so high that its really just personal experience at this point.

I very very thinly went with SM, because of its incredible atmosphere. When you consider it was done with a 2D sidescroller its pretty amazing. And even today people still play this game and find new ways of beating it as quickly as possible.

SMB3 is the greatest NES game ever, and the only game I can think of that has a movie made simply to market it (The Wizard).

As much a Super Metroid kicks ass, I gotta go with SMB3. The vote for me was almost swayed because of my recent purchase of Super Metroid on the Virtual Console, but it just can't beat the best game for the NES

The first two Metroids I didn't like, and SMB III was awesome.

Both are among the best games ever, but I almost always prefer a good pick-up-and-play-anytime game over a game that requires a large investment of patience and energy, so I vote for SMB 3.
