When playing an FPS, do you prefer the mouse/Keyboard combo, or a control pad?

I wouldn't dream of using anything but the combo unless I was playing a console with is very rare.

I don't play many FPS on computer, so I'm more for controller in general.

I have never owned a games console, so the vast majority of the time I play with mouse and keyboard, so that is what I am used to and therefore favour. The only FPS I have is Unreal Tournament (Not a big game nerd really)

It's not really evident that the mouse/keyboard combo works a whole lot better until you try the control pad, the precision just isn't there. I'm not a huge gamer anymore anyway, but I've been borrowing my roommates XBox which reminded me of how bad the control pad really is for FPS.

So what do you mean the whole mavoureability thing? Mouse look vs little joy stick and the like?

Yeah, the control pad is extremely hard to aim accurately with. I don't think you can adjust the sensitivity either. I remember trying in vain to make it work on GoldenEye64 but I just couldn't come to grips with it.

Mouse & Keyboard give you a lot more options for movement and menu access by having so many keys & sidebuttons available with minimal hand movement... plus things like a scroll wheel on a mouse for rotating through weapons for example that you just can't get on a pad.

I don't know a game from xbox onwards were you can't change the sensitivity...

I can do both. I'm more used to console though, so I guess I'll say that.

I find it way easier to aim with a mouse, and the movement controls are best with a keyboard as well.

You should add 'wii remote' to the options.

There's a thought, but too late now...

I'm pretty sure you can edit the poll in thread tools. Maybe not though...

Mouse/keyboard for me. To date, the only FPS I actually feel more comfortable playing with a controller is Halo.

Somebody want to break the stalemate?
