Damn... both awesome. It's gotta be Sonic 2 for me, though. Easily the shining star of the series (Sonic 3 was a BIG letdown IMO), and one I still play to death when the mood grabs me.

I really like sonic 2. sonic one was really good, but sonic 2 just improved on every aspect. and almost every sonic game since that has sucked balls.

A very close decision here, but I'm leaning just a little bit towards Sonic 2. Both of these games were the best entries of their respective series (and both series have really taken a tumble over the years, go figure), but I think Sonic 2 managed to outdo it's predecessor more than Star Fox 64 did. The controls, the maps, the dogfights of Star Fox 64 were all great, but Sonic 2 managed to implement a terrific multi-player set while still delivering terrific secrets and memorable levels, all of which puts it leagues ahead of Sonic 1. Not an easy choice, but I chose Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Sonic 2 is good too, but Star Fox 64 is chock full of great action and corny lines.
