I thought of creating a topic like this for some time now:
(You people who have played the games would probaly know about this, and who you hasn't, well, maybe you get the urge to listen to some of the music, because it's awesome)
I personally think that the Donkey Kong Country Games to Super Nintendo has some of the best music of all time when it comes to video games, Im mostly talking about the game Donkey Kong Country 2, which is one of my favorite games, a big part that creates is awesomeness is the stylished music, two of the best music tracks in the game has to be the one for the bramble levels (Stickerbush Symphony) and the ice cave levels (Clapper's Cavern), many other music from the game is also awesome, like the swamp music, like in the level "Krockhead Clamber", the wood music in levels such as "Web Woods", and the music in the crystal mines levels. I just love the variety in the music.
I hope some of you also love or like the great music of these games (I think DKC2 has the best music of this trilogy of DK games)

In A Snow-Bound Land/Clapper's Cavern is beautiful. Favorite piece from the entire game. Stickerbrush has to be a goddamn classic and for a good reason, amazing piece (those levels piss me off so much tho~).
I like the bonus intro/Swanky Swing from as well, it's grooooovay. The Krook's March/Chain Link Chamber is creepy and epic. Hot Head Bop is catchy as hell. Oh and I love how mysterious and evil the Lost World Anthem sounds. Hell even School House Harmony/Wrinkley sounds cool. Game just had great damn music all around.
Here's something I love about DKC2. Diddy and Dixie's end level fanfares (which both rock out loud and make me laugh uncontrollably) each changes to fit the music of the level scenario, which always made me go "holy creative crap I love this."

I actually have the calmer and more ambient songs on my harddrive, like the underwater song from the first game. They're pretty nice
The only black mark on the DK music in general really is that Donkey Kong rap song.

I never put enough time in the games to get far enough to hear all this music. But in DKC2, I fucking love the opening strings on the overworld at the very beginning of the game.

You should listen to the SPC set or downlod the MP3s from somewhere. I like the SPC rips because they have all the variations, too.
Aquatic Ambience is a nice theme, probably the most memorable one from DKC outside of Fear Factory for me. I know there are a few in DKC3 I like, it had a haunting soundtrack, but I think my favorite there was Enchanted Riverbank.

I used to have a huge SPC collection but I lost it all in this little accident. :(
I've been trying to get myself to get them all again since then.
Magnum if you need video game music these two links are basically all you need.

http://www.shadowhaxor.net/
Shadowhaxor needs you to make a profile to register with but its free so don't worry. That one has the OST for DKC and DKC2.
SPC music is a direct rip of the SuperNES compositions, you need a special player or plugin for Winamp to listen to those. This site has tons of those and all the info on the whole thing.

Whatever Galbadia or ShadowHaxor doesn't have, KH Insider probably might.
MP3s:
http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/donkey-kong-country-02-diddys-kong-quest
Left-click the song titles first, then right-click > Save as... on the Download to Computer linkage.
End level variation MP3s:
http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/6612
http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/6613
etc.
I would still suggest SPCs though because they're funnnn. I usually nab from SNESmusic or Zophar.
And while you're at it just get into all the damn files and download ChipAmp. Go crazy with NSF/USF/PSF/PSF2/SPC/VGZ.

And there's always http://www.videogametunes.net/ for full zip files of several soundtracks (has the DKC trilogy)
People always made a big deal about the graphical innovation of the DKC series, but I think the music is equally, if not more of, a revolution. For instance, the brambles theme (Stickerbush Symphony) completely sucks you in with its calming and majestic rhythm, almost making you completely forget about the agonizing challenge and massive loss of extra lives that the bramble stages offer. And that's just one example, which I can say about plenty of other DKC 1&2 tracks. DKC3's soundtrack is a bit different, likely due to the composer being different, but it's still a good listen nonetheless.
Besides, some of the greatest stuff on OC Remix comes from this series. (Check out Kong in Concert if you haven't already)

One of the best remixes ther is has to be the one called "The Forest Of Brambles" and it is as you can hear by its name a remix of the bramble level music; here you can hear it:

I think all the music in DKC is great in their own way; The Krook's March one is dark and epic as you said Kupomog, then there is the Hornet Hole music (I also just love the design on those beehive levels), Lockjaws Locker and of course the Haunted Chase music. In DKC3 one of my favorite is the Stilt Village music (The first level on the game as an example), it is just so catchy, and the Aquatic Ambiance from the first game is so relaxing and nice ot hear. The K.Rool Duel music in DKC2 is also a very cool piece of music.
(Oh, why did they stop making such great and fun games with excellent music?)

That remix is love.
Another from DKC3 that I am partial to is the water theme for levels like Bazza's Blockade/Fish Food Frenzy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV3P7CKOvw4). Goddamn hauntingly pretty.
Actually I could say that for a bunch of DKC3 themes...like the tree levels (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL5Ibxxgj3o)...creeepy.

The Kremland music from the second game has also a really good beat and it sounds good too, it's a little more "techno-trance" in the style. Im also quite fond of "Nuts And Bolts" from DKC3 (The factory levels), and "Rockface Rumble" is another favorite from that game, beating drums and electric guitars is really nice to hear in that case.

Moral of the story? GRANT KIRKHOPE IS A GOD!
I've always loved the "DK Theme". You know the one? The one played, or a variant upon it, in almost every jungle themed DK level? Best version, obviously, was on the N64 version.

I've always dug the water level theme from DKC2. I dig how the opening sounds like the opening to the Baywatch theme.

Moral of the story? GRANT KIRKHOPE IS A GOD!
David Wise composed the music for the DKC games, Grant Kirkhope did not, and as a reminder, this is a Donkey Kong Country music thread, not to discuss music from other Donkey Kong Games, even if the music is great ;-/

One of the top three consistently best soundtracks for a game ever. Surpassed only by Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man 2.

Ummmm the point of this thread is Donkey Kong Country 2 mainly and DKC in general, on SNES.
Yes the Banjo series has nice music, especially when you can find the mp3 over the midi...

Oh yeah, DKC2 has one of the best gaming soundtracks of all time. The moodiness in the music is superb (like the Locker theme in the first world), while the few that aren't in minor key are...well, superb (the wonderfully fun Rattle Battle, the free and flighty-sounding rigging levels). Gotta love that mine shaft theme too.

Gotta love that mine shaft theme too.
You know, I used to listen to that theme very often some years ago, nbow it is just as listened to as the other themes from the game.
