I had to go with Mario! The classic Nintendo game! Well this isn't the classic one, but Mario games are always good.

this is actually an interesting battle. never a zelda fan, the games just were really boring for me.

yoshi's island, while fun, was also somewhat boring for me. don't know why, it just was.

Yoshi's Island improved a lot on Super Mario World and was a great game indefinitely, but come on, A Link to the Past.

LttP was a good game, and although I hear good things out YI I have yet to play it.

C'est la vie.

SMW2 is one of the great 2D sidescroller games, so no matter how legendary A Link to the Past is I still wonder a bit if it should really take this. I did vote for Link to the Past though because it does have a lot of strengths and I just found it more memorable a game.

But still putting aside personal experience I still have to wonder, SMW2 was a well crafted game. But so was Link and it came years earlier too so I guess I shouldn't get too worked up.

I hate those rounds when you compare say, Twilight Princess to Asteroids. That's hard to compare to say which one is better. This one, on the other hand, is easy. A Link to the Past is the greatest SNES game ever.

ALttP is a great game and such and such, but I really prefer Yoshi's Island over it. I pretty much cried tears of joy when I finally beat all the extra levels, as well.

SMW2 might be one of the best 2D sidescrollers but LttP is one of the best GAMES ever.

I think I prefer Yoshi's Island by just a little bit. There's so many little secrets and touches to the game that I could probably load it up right now and still find something cool or neat about it, and its quirky looking graphics and design still make it stand out to this day.

Also, while I admit I have not trouble with them now, the Extra Stages are still a wonderful piece of platforming hell that have yet to be matched anywhere else in the Mario series, including the underwhelming if still OK DS sequel.

Not a difficult choice here, but it is an interesting match-up nevertheless.

When you think about it, Link to the Past is about as close to an identity that the Zelda series has ever seen, and most of the Zelda games afterwards adapted many of it's themes, like the use of magic, the various items, it can even be argued that the light/dark world use of multiple areas has reused again and again in one way or another (the past and present, wolf Link or regular Link, big Link or small Link). This game created an infamous formula that was used again and again.

Yoshi's Island is on the exact opposite side of the spectrum. This was a game that completely went against the series norm and created a style that has never been forgotten or duplicated as well since. The combat system, the item collection, the bosses, the graphics, it was all so different and so memorable for a Mario game, and it all worked so well. Despite all of this, the formula was never used again, save for the DS sequel from last year (that got merely above average reviews and sales). This game created an infamous formula that was never used again.

Two games, two approaches in style, two different reputations. One was reused over and over, the other was never touched again. It's ironic to see these two games up against one another. In the end, I did pick Link to the Past, but I do like both games alot.

Yoshi's Island is pretty fun, if a bit on the easier side (except for the insanely difficult task of all 100%). But, come on, A Lttp is the greatest game ever made.

OK, this shouldn't be tied. A Link to the Past should win this. Remember Magnum's post (http://www.nohomers.net/showthread.php?p=1614427#post1614427) that if ALttP doesn't win all hell is going to break loose. You wouldn't want to be responsible for that now would you? Vote for Zelda.
