Looking back at it, MK 64 is one of the weaker games in the Mario Kart series, but due to the fact that this was one of the games that introduced me to videogaming, I'll have to give it my vote. That, and Contra is too damn hard.

Mario Kart 64 wasn't the best in the series, but it still was a lot of fun and I spent endless hours playing it with my friends. I also agree with Old Gil that Contra is very hard.

Contra is a classic side-scrolling shooter game, but Mario Kart 64 is one of my fondest multi-player experiences ever. The tracks (barring the very long and boring Rainbow Road) all have so much personality, creativity, and opportunity that they are worth racing through again and again. The battle tracks in particular were terrific and had enough ingenuity for strategic combat scenarios. It has shortfalls, but I'm voting for Mario Kart 64.

Tough Decision, Contra is one of the classics of the NES era, but MK64 is one of the bes multi layer games to this date, since MK already has the majority of the votes, I'll go with contra

Sorry to everyone that thinks Contra is hard. The average NES nerd has played it about ten thousand times and Contra is second nature. Still, hard to decide if it is better than Mario Kart 64. MK64 made so many improvements to the Mario Kart franchise that the original SNES version looks old and tired in comparison. But in the end Contra is too great of a game not to vote for.

well i voted for mario kart just because i hated all those old boring racing games and mk was a new and fun racing game

i've gone with MK64. Really brought the game into a new geneation and although the computer players always did that bloody "i can catch up even when im three laps behind" shit, it still rocked.

Double Dash!! was better though.

I voted Mario Kart just because it was so much damn fun. Anyway, I also notice that the sheer majority of the 'gaming nerds of the NHC' voted for Contra, whereas everyone else voted for Mario Kart 64. I suppose that's kind of interesting.
