So I have no landline but I want to connect to Live! to get some Call of Juarez western-style shootouts going. I do however have a wireless connection that I get from the main house (I live in the guesthouse).
Is there a way to hook up my 360 with online from a wireless network?

you can get a wireless adapter for the 360, mine cost around 90 or so but it was the official xbox one

I have Logitechs play link, bought it for 29 dollars online. Works really well and is easy to set up. Depends if they let you connect it and how far away you are from the router. You get two small boxes, you stick an ethernet cord connected to the wireless router/modem and one to your 360(it works with all systems and computers).

No installing and it was much cheaper than the 80-100 dollars the Xbox brand. If that doesn't work, you will probably have to get this one:

That Logitech one looks good, although I do not have access to the router. Might it work if I create a network from my laptop and hook it up to that instead?

If you can have your laptop act like a router so you can just plug the one box into it that ethernet port, then I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Pretty sure you still need a router on the laptop, but if you did it should work. Have a look at the official site http://www.xbox.com and they have lots of guides for different ways to access live.
I have a wireless router connected to my PC and connect to live with the wireless network adaptor. Was easier then I thought, just plugged everything in and off it went.

thats what i do for connecting to live, it works wonders. you have to have the laptop on to do that all the time tho. its not even hard to set up, just connect an ethernet cable from the laptop to the 360. the 360 will recognize it easily.

I had a bit more trouble trying to set up my Xbox 360 to connect through my laptop. There are three methods, two of which seemed to work for everyone but me:
Bridge Connection between Wireless and Local Area Connection (360):

Internet Connection Sharing through Wireless connection:

The "easier way" in the third comment, which worked for me:
