Calling this a question is misleading. It is as if that loogan that played WMH in the sequel is even worth mentioning.
Mr. Snipes took an odd ball character in the movie's peripheral and brought it to life.
There is no debate, only praise for Mr. Snipes. We praise him for performing the role so well and we praise him for not taking part in the film that destroyed the character of Willie Mays Hayes.
Let this be the end of the discussion about Major League 2.

quit gaying up my thread and only answer the question. major league II was still a lot of damn fun, so quit being a buzzkill.

major league 2 is the one where they pretend the obvious baltimore shots are in cleveland right?
anyway, i gotta go with snipes here, but epps did a commendable job filling those giant cleats, and major league 2 surpassed my expectations. major league 3:back to the minors, on the other hand....

i think i was there for a couple as well. i was also there for the opening day pitch scene in the movie "dave." back when i was way into baseball, i used to go to Os games all the time. i was at the very last game at memorial stadium, and the very first game at camden yards. plus the game where cal broke the streak. not much of a claim to fame, but whatever.

I'd put Snipes on my list of 100 players better than Derek Jeter in the last 20 years.
Epps I'm not so sure about...

it's coming, it's coming. i just chose a really bad weekend to make that commitment. take home final due that weekend, and finals all this week and getting ready to go home. i think i'm at 87 right now.
and PCG, what turned you off of baseball if you used to like it so much? peter angelos?
DAntae
12-19-2006, 06:22 PM
angelos would be enough. hes not even a good lawyer, fucker made all his money off of asbestos. so maybe that makes him good, but still a horrible person.
was also at cal's record setting game. we used to come in on the train all the time. make a day at the inner harbor then head to an o's game. little italy is my favorite place in all of baltimore.
box elder
12-19-2006, 06:28 PM
yeah angelos and the strike kind of killed it for me. i know that's a little cliched, but i just kind of lost interest and it never came back. plus my parents were huge baseball fans (obviously i didn't go to all those games on my own, as i was a kid for most of them) and i basically lost interest in all sports when i was in high school. i was more interested in being a cool, disengaged, indie-rocking pot smoker. but when i got back into sports later, i just never fancied baseball as much as football and basketball. just a preference.
i still hate the yankees though.

not to challenge you or anything, but i was just gonna say that, for the record, baseball is far, far beyond those strike days. labor negotiations haven't been this good in a LOOOONG time. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays this way, because in the last couple years baseball's popularity has SOARED. probably because it currently has the best parity of the "big 3".

yeah, i was a big baseball fan too. i went to 35 games at three rivers one year. saw 5 bob walk starts in a row. good times
while now there is a bit more parity winning wise than before, the ability to get and keep established stars still trends away from my team horribly
that and the game sucks to watch on tv and i live 250 miles away

i've never heard of it, DAn. did she grow up near baltimore? because i'm a lot closer to DC than baltimore (right on the border in fact). i went to albert einstien high school in kensington.
and dns, i'm sure they've come a long way since the strike as far as negotiations are concerned (ie they're not on the verge of another strike/lockout), but as far as any rule changes that would benefit the game (at least imo) they haven't done all that much. there's still no salary cap, so almost every team in the league is still basically a farm team for the yankees and redsox. and there may be parity as far as teams coming from out of nowhere sometimes, but there's still teams that seemingly have absolutely no shot ever, and other teams that will be competing almost every year. but like i said, my main beef with baseball isn't these "political" issues i have, it's mainly that i just don't enjoy watching or following baseball that much anymore. i still love playing baseball though, and it might actually be my personal favorite in that respect.

she lived in laurel actually...guess thats is halfway between baltimore and dc. it was a snotty private catholic school, from what she has told me.

the yankees/red sox argument doesn't hold that true anymore. i used to think like that, but in the last 7 or so years, it hasn't held up. baseball has found a way to get around salary caps without having the same team win every year (note that the parity has become stronger since the near '02 strike, when collective bargining and revenue sharing was altered some). since 2000, the same team hasn't won a world title more than once, and 19 of the 30 teams have been represented in the playoffs, which isn't bad considering only 8 teams make it in a given year. a salary cap could help, but i don't see it changing the current level of parity much more than it already has.
this year alone, the free agent market has pretty much shown that the sox and yanks can't take whoever they want anymore. in '04, the angels managed to sign vladimir guerrero, bartolo colon, jose guillen, and kevlim escobar...3 of which were expected to land elsewhere. carlos lee went to the astros, alfonso soriano to the cubs, richie sexon and adrian beltre to the mariners, aj burnett and b.j. ryan went to the blue jays...and that list could go on. sure, the red sox and yankees get their man occassionally, but that was far more of a, say, 1996-2001 trend. revenue sharing and luxury taxes have spread the wealth out far more than it has been in the past. and with baseball having a far, far larger farm system than any other sport, teams can get immense talent now for league minimum salaries for a couple years, allowing teams like the marlins to compete with complete fucktards for owners. it's a joke that they had a $15 million payroll last year, but it doesn't stop teams from competing nearly as much as it does elsewhere, because there is so much cheap talent to groom, and then sign for arbitration years, that allows them to play on par with other teams. sure, a salary cap would be nice, but it's proving itself to be less and less necessary with every passing year, and free spending on whatever marquee name comes along is losing favor compared to keeping a decent farm team in place. hell, free agency is becoming less acceptable every year anyway, with so many players under club control as rookies and 2nd or 3rd year players, or with most guys signing 5+ year contracts now.
the only team i see right now as being completely butt-fucked hopeless is, sadly, danno's team. at least KC has a decent farm system, and the cubs have a couple free agents, and the nats a new home where they can rebuild. the pirates are kinda sad to me. i'd really like to see them (especially jason bay) have a chance, but they are just a mess.
woohoo. another essay post for sideshowdan. i know how much he loves them.
edit: baseball is easily the greatest sport to play. i haven't been in a league in a long, long time, but every time i put on a glove or pick up a bat and take a few swings, it brings back great memories of times when i was actually good at something.

necessary roughness was pretty good, actually. at least i thought so when i saw it in the theater 15 or whatever years ago. kathy ireland as a place kicker? niice. i seem to recall a scene where some burly linebacker knocks her down and says "welcome to football," to which she responds with "welcome to foot, ball!" and kicks him in the groin. that's too good for words.
