Actually, Apu is the only one that was never shown to be an alchoholic at any point during the series; Smithers was a alchoholic for a span of time in "Who Shot Mr. Burns". Lionel Hutz was shown at an AA meeting in "Duffless", had to call his AA sponsor after almost being tempted to down a bottle of bourbon in court in "Marge in Chains" (in the same episode, it was implied that Hutz's drinking shattered his law practice), and offered to share a bottle of Scotch with Marge in "Marge Gets a Job", claiming he hadn't slept in days. As for Homer, while I'm not sure if he fits squarely into the alchoholic category, his drinking has caused a few problems for him in the past.

(Sheesh, I'm a nerd.) All of your suggestions could work here too :LOL: . I guess I kind of wear my love of certain characters on my sleeve, no?
