pathetic terp performance made me ponder this. what is one to do when a game is getting really out of hand, and it's pretty much over by halftime? i usually go with number 3, myself.
edit: should be "your team sucks" obviously. also "quit" not "quite" me typie bad

usually do something else and check back every once in a while, unless it's really hopeless.

Same here, I can't stand watching my favorite team get its ass handed to it, but I still usually check up on it every ten to fifteen minutes

option 3. last time it happened was the bears-seahawks debacle. every time i flipped back to the game in the 2nd half the bears were making a big play or we were going 3 and out again.

number 3
i will usually keep the game on, and just get into conversation with whoever i'm watching with and pay little attention to the game. if i'm by myself, i'll probably just head up to my room and go on the computer, while still watching the game on a small tv... "just incase".
Number 3, unless I know the team sucks so bad that there's absolutely no chance of solution (read: 2006 Cubs).
3
the 49ers games i watch only until i get frustrated and then i just start playing madden or checking on fantasy football

3 all the way. If you love your team as it seems we all do, it does hurt sometimes to watch em.

1. I generally flip between other games (if they're on) anyway, but I'll always spend the most time on my favorite team, no matter what the score is. So, I guess it's always a little bit of 3, what with the flipping and all.
#1, i've been a lifelong tigers/lions fan. if i didn't stick it out, oftentimes i wouldn't be able to ever watch
1, and i usually bitch and moan and call friends to complain about how my team is slowly killing my desire to live.

Usually watch it all the way through, but perhaps start flipping channels a bit.
I never ever leave a game early if I paid to be there, even when we're getting our asses handed to us.

yeah, i'll never leave a game that i actually am in attendance for. no excuse for it.

Agree on never leaving a game. Beating the traffic is not that important.
oh yeah, i'm talking about TV only.
i would never leave a game i'm in attendance at, whether i paid or not.

I'll leave a game early if it's a blowout and I have school the next day (generally baseball,) or a football game that's obviously over with maybe 3:00 left, but outside of that, never.

yep.
and as for being in attendance, no matter WHO it is, i rarely leave early. i usually make it a point to stay till the end and then some because that helps in traffic.

I'm a die-hard Leafs fan. I have accepted the fact that the chances are good that I may die before seeing them win the Cup again. I watch/listen to/attend every game I can and I never quit early.
sorry, but anyone who leaves at all disgusts me.
especially with ticket prices, don't you just want to see anything and everything that happens in the game, blowout or not? even if it's just 2 minutes in a blowout, don't you just like soaking up the atmosphere of being at a professional game and whatnot? plus... you're really pissing off the people who do, because you're standing up and walking around with 5 minutes left while other people are trying to watch.
happened during the alcs game 3, i wound up sitting next to a couple of oakland fans who left right after monroe's home run...i'm still trying to figure it out.

I always gut a game out...bad or not. it makes me feel good as a fan to rant when I feel I need to.
I will from time to time change the channel if it is really bad and try to take my mind off the ass whooping.

just to clarify, this was strictly meant for television viewing, not actual game attendance.

Even if my team doesn't suck I'll turn channels to other games - I'm a nervous, superstitious game watcher when it's on TV. Most people hate to watch sports on TV with me.
But if I'm there I always stick it out and stay. Hey, there's always a chance that the TV people having nothing else to do then to get random croud shots, and BAM! I'm cool 'cause I was on TV.

I stick with my team and just try to remember when they didn't suck. For example, remember that time the Braves actually won the World Series. That was a good time. That was fun.
