Ok, so starting this January I may be ready to seriously pursue complete game collections on certain systems, avoiding Ebay wherever possible

I definately want a complete collection of liscensed NES titles (barring Stadium Events and the 1990 NES Champ. cart) which would be around 725/750 games, of which I already have around 180.

I'm mulling the N64 as a possibility, with high availibilty and with only about 300 to snag, which I know is more than possible over time

Dreamcast has about 250 but they're getting too rare too quick

SNES and Genesis are too expensive

Playstation numbers surpass the thousands so fuck'em

but what I'm really wondering is if I should focus on NES first since they've gotten rarer over the last five years or do I have better chances with other systems.

thoughts? advice?

No advice for you, but I do wish you good luck. It sounds like a tough undertaking, but it'd definitely be worth it to have a complete library of NES games. I'd love to do something like this some day if I had the time and the money.

It is my decision to one day own every licensed NES game there is. Good luck with that, Magnum.

Looking forward to an easy complete PSP collection in about a year and a half. :D I vision a glorious golden bounty of shrink-wrapped games for no more than $5 each.

hit up every yard sale you can...

as for dreamcast I got over 100 titles...all of which are pretty much must haves for me.

never thought of completing out entire system libraries before. not so much for the good games but all the shit ones they have as well.

A shitty NES game is still a good game

as much as I love my nintendo titles...some stuff should be avoided like the plague, like WARIO woods for instance.

My grandma has a Sega Genesis with and a Nintendo NES.
My family has a SNES, an arsenal of Game Boys and Game Boy Advances, an N64, and a PS2.
We are a video game family.

Here's a crazy idea that I'm in no way volunteering for, but would be interested to see it's success....

Institute a peer-to-peer system where you recruit certain willing volunteers via a web site or bulletin board (eh-hem) system who will scour their hometown papers, flea markets, etc. for you, each person essentially marking items off the list.

Unless of course your "insanity" was refering to your intent to do this entirely on your own. In which case I agree.

I owed Wario Woods and consider it to be a very entertaining puzzle game.

You know what's funny? If you take every single NES game ever released in any region of the world, both licensed and pirated (about 8000 different rom images total), they will all fit on a single 650MB CD. The same can be done with all Super NES games and a DVD. And I bet the same goes for N64 and a blu-ray disc.

I've got nearly 100 NES games in the last year under major discounts and that was with minimal trips to the flea markets and yard sales

besides, take a look at some the game rooms posted on http://www.digitpress.com

Do you have any requirements, like you will only buy if the game works or has the book?

Well, they must work

But they don't need manuals or boxes.
