which would you rather get first?
i'd pick the ps3 because i'm typically more of a playstation gamer than nintendo gamer
The Wii, entirely because of the games that will be available for it. The PS3 does not have a single game I want to play. I've basically decided that I'm done with Sony, Nintendo is the way for me.

I too would rather get the Wii. The launch line-up for the Wii has me more interested than the line-up for the Playstation 3. The money issue is also a factor (though not a major one, I could afford either), but I'm also just very intrigued by the concept of playing video games in new ways with the Wii-mote. The catalog of downloadable video games from the Nintendo and Sega library doesn't hurt either. I do applaud Sony for their bold venture into new technology what with blu-ray, but in the end, I'm still sticking with Nintendo.

Wii a million times over. I have no high-definition TV and thus no use for much of Playstation 3's advanced high-priced technology. Plus after playing the same kind of stuff over and over again for the last 10 years, and getting bored with video games in general, I'm desperate for something completely new and risky like Ninendo's motion-sensor approach.

A wii any day. PS3 will definatly be a flop with that stupid blu-ray and the high price point. you can get 2 wii's for the price of one crappy PS3 thats $500. waste of money if you ask me. but i would rather have a 360 more than anything. wii would be second, ps3 would be last.

I'm gonna have to agree with all of the above answers. And here's why (warning: the following is pretty much a rehash of all the pro-Wii rebuttals you have heard in the past few months):
1. You can buy 2 Wiis for the price of 1 Premium PS3, with enough left over to buy two first-party games.
2. Wii is arguably the most innovative and daring of any game console of the past ten years, whereas the PS3 is simply an uber-beefed-up PS2 with a built-in Blu-Ray player. Granted, it would be nice if Wii had graphics on level with PS3, but in the long run that's not what's important.
3. Wii has all of the franchises we Nintendo fanboys (and girls) love so much. There aren't any games on PS3 that I would be interested in except maybe Need for Speed Carbon ... oh waitaminnit, that's coming to Wii too! Never mind!
4. Let's not forget the most obvious reason: the control scheme. C'mon, even you Sony and Microsoft loyalists have to admit that the Wii control scheme is friggin' cool. I believe Wii is going to bring Nintendo back from the third-place slump it has been in since 2001. My prediction is that Wii will outsell (at least by number of units) the PS3 and XBox 360 this holiday season.
So I am definitely, surely, positively, no-question-about-it, getting myself a Wii on November 19 (possibly at midnight if GameCrazy stays open). I might get a PS3 down the line when the price drops if a few good games come out (and plus it would be nice to have a next-gen video player for less than a grand).

The only incentive I have to buy a PS3 right now (other than MGS4) is to play my PS2 games agin (I refunded my PS2 in May to buy a DS + 2 games). I miss playing Silent Hill 2, Katamari, and Subsistence.
Even if PS3 was priced half as much as it is, it just doesn't have the exclusives I care about. The graphics-upgrade is something I could care less about now since video game graphics have begun to resemble an asymptote by now.
I'm still not picking one up until December though, just incase the motion sensing turns out to be a total dud. I doubt it will, since Nintendo has proven itself with the DS' incredible touch/voice recognition. But just incase it turns out that it is all way off, or that you can trick it (like I've seen people do with WW:Smooth Moves in videos) into thinking you've done motions.
I can only imagine deveopers to utilize the system more and more as they get used to it, and the games to get tighter.

Wii, because nintendo has built trust in me through the years and they've shown me they can handle a new input innovation with respect and not treat it as a power glove novelty, ala DS
However, people blasting the ps3 as a flop are probably not right. Seeing what I saw at e3, the "WOW" factor of playing a wii was equaled in seeing what a ps3 could do. I don't wish it ill, I just hope that the wii comes out as a success and people figure out how to really use the wiimote in fun ways that actually add to control--instead of just making a new way to do the same thing (tapping a motion isn't really more fun than pressing a button--but using it as it's used in zelda, red steel etc. looks way fun)

Wii first, PS3 much later (after a price drop or two).
I want to give Nintendo some love again after abandoning them so many years ago...

I'm buying both, but I think I'm looking forward to the Wii a little more. Most of the PS3 titles coming out soon are nothing interesting. Wii has a unique concept and games I'm actually excited about.

Nintendo, translated means "leave luck to heaven". Wii means "Everyone".
Nintendo began back in 1889. On their 100th anniversary it was decided to make no mention of it, in fear of alienating hip young gamers who'd take the celebration as a History lesson being crammed down their throats. They knew the last thing gamers wanted while playing was reminders of the classroom.
And what kid wants to brag about the game console they just bought from a hundred year old man? :oldman:
Right on ALL accounts. Nintendo understands my trendy shallowness perfectly. Personally, I wish we could afford the PS3,.. but it looks like if we get anything, We'll have to drop our grudge against geezers and "Leave luck to heaven" & be like "Everyone" and get the nifty looking Wii

I plan to get both, but I'm easily going to get the Wii first. Entirely cheaper and I still love Nintendo games, they have not let me down before. Almost all of the launch titles have me interested. I'm still VERY interested in the PS3 because there are a lot of games I want to get for it, though not very many of them are launch titles, it is just too goddamned expensive. Someday, though. I've not felt the need to be all "fuck Sony, they'll fail, 360+Wii all the way!" at all. Even if Sony shut Lik Sang down. I'm just going to give it time.

Considering I judge games on gameplay and try to dive on games that have mechanics I've never seen before or cutting edge, Wii. Graphics aren't that important to me unless they look like shit. I have an apparently rogue prediction that not enough people will buy PS2s and they will stop the flow of games or possibly even tank like the 3DO.

Getting both. Technically I should sell my PS3, especially since none of the launch titles interest me, but part of me wants the Blue-ray player now. Especially since movies on Blue-ray are starting to not only get the MPEG-4 codec, but on dual layered disks. In any case, I'd own one eventually because of MGS and GT.

For now - Wii - it has more interesting games coming out soon that I want to play, and the much lower price point makes it even more attractive. I've only seen a few PS3 titles that interest me, and Wii has more than that available within the next six months.

WII for the games, that's a line up. PS3 doesn't have titles that interest me and the ones they do are more of the same. Wii is giving me that old school Nintendo vibe and anyone who missed days of school seated in front of a TV to play Final Fantasy III (6) knows what I'm talking about.
Wii. I have a 360 and you just know that 90% of games will be on both 360 and PS3 and be identical, so buying a PS3 would just be for a few Sony exclusives. The Wii is actually something innovative and different and is worth buying as a second console. I still hate that goddamn name, but the Wii is looking like one of the best things to happen to gaming in a long time. I'd never own it exclusively, its too much of a novelty thing, the 360 would be my "main" system, but as a diversion from more serious gaming, it looks like a lot of fun. At this time I have zero interest in the PS3.
The only thing that would put me off buying a Wii is its lack of HD support. A big mistake imo with the huge surge in popularity of HD TV's. The Wii graphically is going to look very weak next to the other two.

probably the ps3. i've always used playstations in the past, so i don't see any reason to buy a console that will most likely be incredibly similar.

Wii, wii wii.
The PS3 showcases cool technology, don't get me wrong, but few people truly have the equipment necessary for it to live up to its potential. It's best feature at the moment is that Blu-ray player are $1000, PS3 is $500.
The Wii is an example of useful gaming technology. The game differences between the PS2 and the PS3 are almost negligable, but the innovative controls and gameplay with wider appeal than just to "gamers" will give the Wii the victory this time around.
What kupomog said. I'm getting a Wii first, because it's hella cheaper, and alot of the games coming out on PS3 will be/are already out on XBOX 360, which I have.

From what I've seen so far, I'd go with the Wii. It has all the established franchises I like and the new controller is going to give a fresh perspective on gameplay. On the down side, although the controller is innovative, the system itself dosn't seem like much of a step up from GC. PS3 basically has the exact opposite situation though.
Another deciding factor is the fact I already have a 360, and as others have mentioned, the 360 will probably get most of the stuff that's left off the Wii but on the PS3.

wii, i dont see myself gettin ps3 for a LONG time.
price as everyone has said, and nintendo really backs up their products with good support and well built machines, i cant tell you how many times i dropped my gameboy and the damn thing still works 10+ years later.

Wii because I want something different, something original. The DS gave new life to the 2D genre and I believe the Wii will do pretty much the same for the 3D genre. I also couldn't live without Nintendo's first party games which I couldn't play anywhere else.

Wow, I didn't expect so much Wii loving on this site.
Oh well, Wii for me albeit a while after launch. Purely because of the games. I've always loved what Nintendo pumps out, and unless something drastic happens then I'll continue to love em.
Enlighten me on one aside from price.
The fact that its the most innovative system since the days of the 32-bit systems. And the fact it has Nintendo 1st part games. Theyre pretty big plusses... Still, I'll never replace my 360, HD is the way to go, with games being so realistic these days HD is the way they are meant to be played, but when I get tired of all the seriousness of games like Splinter Cell and GRAW and the rest I look forward to having some old fashioned pure fun on the Wii.

the wii. it looks to have more games I will enjoy playing over and over. the price point is nice...but I would pay over what I would like for the better system. the online aspect has me excited, plus hacing so many older games available right away. ps3 will eventually be in my collection for a few of its exclusives...but I can wait a year or two for it.

Wii is the way for me. Mostly because I won't feel guilty sitting on my ass all day playing games. With the wii, I might move around a bit.
The only good game for the ps3 will be that new turok game. It looks amazing.
Turoks coming to the 360 too. And yeah, it looks unreal.

Yeah, I'v been seeing the PS3 commericals start to come on. Almost as retarded as their logo with random lines that is displayed at the end.
I'll probably get a Wii a few months after it's released.
I have an Xbox, and the graphics will pretty much be the same thing as a PS3, as well as share 90% of the same titles. I prefer Xbox's exclusives over Playstations anyway.

Those random lines are the NA release date.
Capacity commercial makes sense at least. Rubik's cube not as disturbing as the baby, but...I don't get it.
There was a Sony Expo here over the weekend. Showing off the PS3. I didn't get to go but a 360 loving guy I know who had little to no interest in the PS3 did. Now he tells me that the PS3 shot to the top of his Christmas list... Wish I could've gone to see what made him have that change of heart..

Well, I'm a fan of both Sony and Nintendo.
But most of you are correct.
The PS3 will just release the same title's just a newer version of an old game or things that are too original.
So i say the Wii.
Nintendo games are very fun and enjoyable, and i've found myself playing them for a long period of time.
I'm also looking forward to some of the releases too.
Wow, I didn't expect so much Wii loving on this site.
I'm surprised too. I was expecting a larger spread than this. I mean, this isn't Nintendo.com.
I'm probably getting a Wii. I'm not getting a PS3 for sure, though, since I've never owned any of the previous systems, and I'm not going to buy in for $600. Nintendo hasn't quite talked me into it yet, though. But that's OK, because I'll probably get it around Christmas if I do get it. That should be plenty of time to gauge the reaction and read reviews.
