View Full Version : Twilight Princess: which version will you get?
Which version of Twilight Princess will you get? I'm not entirely sure and I was hoping for your input. The Wii version's controls look slightly confusing and I love the 'classic' control schemes of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker.

I was always gonna get the Wii version (well, since it was announced), but apparently the controls have been tweaked and they're now a LOT better. But I'll also eventually get the GC version if it's going cheap, so I can see the real, un-flipped version.
What is all this flipped/unflipped business? I've seen it mentioned several times in the Nintendo thread and I still don't know what the hell it means.

Getting Wii. The only way to get used to the controller is to just jump right in and get playing with it. Still ticked about the mirrored graphics though.
Link has always been left handed. But when Zelda was played on the Wii, I guess some right-handers comment on it feeling odd to be swinging the Wii-mote with the right hand while Link swings his sword with the left. So instead of fixing Link to make him right-handed, they simply mirrored the graphics in the game so everything is backwards compared to the GC version. What was on the left is now on the right.
Thank you for that explanation. I sure hope they've changed the text so it isn't mirrored, though.

Probably did. There may not have been much, if any, text in the game world. They can flip the graphics and keep the UI unchanged.

both. dont ask why, it has something to do with people who buy every re-release of star wars movies. its the same shit but you got to collect them all.

Probably the Gamecube version... I'm not going to purchase a Wii until I give it a little time to see how it does.

the whole thing with the wii is...your going to have to get it if you want to continue to make nintendo first party games. that alone is what always makes their systems so appealing. no harm in taking a wait and see approach but I think its going to do just fine.

From what I hear, Wii version will have the same graphics quality as the Gamecube version. Otherwise, I'd be more tempted to get the Wii version.
I'll stick with playing Zelda the old-fashioned way, with a gamecube controller. If people seem to enjoy the Wii, I may purchase that in a few years.

Immeditely... neither. I gave my GCN to my brother, and won't have enough money for a Wii + TP. :(
I'd probably end up getting the Wii version for sure though. Maybe this will be the first Zelda game I actually beat... :p

Not quite, the Wii version has slightly higher resolution (i.e. less jagged edges), and widescreen support. The screens I've seen (especially of the field locations) looked breathtaking.

Sounds like Zelda might not even come out on the GC at all.

Makes sense for Nintendo to do this. It will increase Wii sales tenfold.

Article now says TP is still coming out for the GameCube.
Definitely buying that version.
I know the Wii is backwards compatible with the GameCube, but will classic-style controllers work with the Wii?

Even if I get a Wii at launch, I still might get the Gamecube version. Much as I want to love the Wii, until I have a controller in my hands I'm not convinced that it will suit Zelda. I know that the control system Zelda already has is pretty much perfect and because I've been waiting for this game for SO long, I don't want my first playthrough of it to maybe be marred by the Wii controls not feeling as good. The content of the game looks so good that I want to sit back and play it for hours at a time in the traditional way. I'd probably pick it up for the Wii at some point because I imagine it would feel like a very different game.

I don't see myself getting the Wii this year, it's just not a high priority, so I'll be picking up the GC version. Once I get the Wii I might double dip though, depending on if they expierence is any more fun.
