Hey folks,

http://www.simpsonschannel.com

Today marks the tenth design change in nine years. The aim for this design is to step it up professionally (as professional as a SIMPSONS site can be, anyway), with the design taking inspiration from current web trends, specifically that of corporate news websites. As our last three designs have done, the page has been widened so there's room for more news, more room to breathe, etc. Also, i've dropped the 'THE' from the title all over the site.. it's been heading that way for a while. Hope you like it.

That's excellent! Looks very modern and professional. Agreed that it's the best yet. Good work.
There's something really off about the stroke on the lettering for Channel.

Usually, a 1px stroke never looks quite right.

edit: why is my post here? Should have came after RM's...

Is really nice, I like it ALOT better than the previous. Looks nice and professional, but what about that LETS design???

A big improvement since the last one I think. And dropping the "The" was a good idea.

Line across Lisa's leg in the upper-left. Other than that it's the channel's best yet.

what browser? i tested it in the latest firefox2 beta, opera 9 and ie7. and had a lot of troubles with that corner in particular, but got it right in all those browsers in the end.

just a few things to note, the 'web review' box isn't randomized yet, i still need to go through and add/rank sites and i'll probably use the active sites thread at nohomers to achieve this.

also, this design did not exist one week ago. i started it on sunday. so i'm glad everybody's liking it so far!

edit: WOW the clocks on this board are broken. i wrote this as reply #20 and it was inserted at #14 so it's not gonna make sense.

There's something really off about the stroke on the lettering for Channel.

if there is it's been like that for a good year, same logo was copied and pasted from the previous design.

Makes me excited for LETS

lets and channel are two different sites in their own right, so lets will be a lot cartoonier.

also if anybody could screenshot the lisa leg problem please do so, i'd really like to fix it. thanks!

It only shows up for me when I view the comments.

Wow, excellent work Adam.

(also just as a random side note...i'm quite interested to know which "trends" did you adopt? I'm guessing the thick diagonal lines on the left is one of them)

Looks quite nice and professional, though, basically the epitome of the kind of web design that I strive for, in terms of really simply presenting the content and not a lot of colors. Inspiring stuff, Adam, nice nice work. Makes me excited for LETS

I see the line on lisa's leg too (firefox).

The design looks much cleaner. It's my favorite yet!

One little fix would be to make the light gray text under the episode news section a little darker. "Ratings, airdates, promo images" and the posted by date are a little hard to read.

There's also a typo under website history in the first paragraph:
"...and a linking system which grouped he best sites by categories."

Design is good as always. I did notice you were using several designs trends, but not enough to become a trend whore. I don't see a problem with the stroke in the header, it fits well with the overall look.

Lisa's leg appears fine in my browser (firefox), I'm curious to find out if the bug is resolution or browser version specific.

I also like the google ad placement on the bottom of the page, looks like some thought was put into that.

As for constructive critism, I would probably put some more web reviews in there aside from your other site. Also, I know white space is good, but is there maybe to much?

Wow. Wow! Fucking Brilliant! That is the best design I've ever seen. I love it. Freaking awesome.

the firefox bug has been fixed (main page only), i used browsercam.com to fix it but it was only happening on a windows 98 and ie4 combination, despite the problem occuring with some firefox users here.

i already mentioned the web review isn't complete, but i really wanted to get the site up before the season premiere so thats why it's currently home to a bit of cross promotion.

as for whitespace, i guess it depends on your resolution. anything higher than 1152*860 and i'd agree that there may be a bit much, otherwise i feel it's a nice balance. if the site were left aligned you probably wouldnt notice as much, but i'm not a huge fan of left-aligning sites unless they resize despending on the resolution.

Great work on the design. Easy on the eyes, clean and Looks fine for me (in opera 9), really well done.

I don't why I didn't say this earlier: this new design you've got is amazing. It's the first time I actually feel like I'm browsing a news site, and not a Simpsons site. The only problem I can see with it is that the comments for news items aren't counted on the homepage. I don't know if it's a template issue or just my browser.

it's an incredible design, especially the way techniques are mixed together to provide a unique effect. Its great to look and, and great inspiration. The layout is perfect for the website.

You've really out-done yourself with this one adam. Great work.

careful now, my head will explode.

i'm glad you all (still) like it. its just a pity that it's been one of the slowest times for news in the last couple of years, seemingly as soon as i released this design. but i hope the new features such as video highlights and comments are adequate padding while we wait.

Yeah, there wont be any until the latest episode is aired i think. But still, the site has more to offer anyway, so it doesnt make that much of a difference ;)
