Hi guys, I am new here, first post. ;)

I am a huge Apu fan, I actually own Apu.com , never done anything with it but recently had people making offers on it. Is there any indication Apu will be in the new Simposons movie next year ?

That's essentially a spam post OrdealByFire.

APUFAN, there may be someone here willing to buy your domain, but probably not.

If I had the money, I'd buy it. It'd be more of a novelty thing than anything else, but still having a novelty like that would be awesome.

APUFAN

Well I know the domain market some, as for a three letter dot com, they are big money. A name, tv connection etc. I dunno where it could go .

Binky
08-19-2006, 06:50 PM
A 3-letter domain like that would be worth lots of money no matter WHAT meaning it has. I doubt it would have any value for a Simpsons website, but it could for a lot of other things (i.e. somebody naming their company "APU" or something). You could very easily get thousands of dollars for that domain.

APUFAN
08-19-2006, 06:52 PM
I actually have offers in the tens of thousands, over $10000 but less than $30000. I get about 100 uniques a day or 3000 a month. Just parked for now.

Binky
08-19-2006, 06:58 PM
Yeah, you definitely need to sell that motherfucker and start parking a brand new beamer instead.
:rimshot:

Seriously though, why would even be considering keeping this domain when you have offers like that? Unless of course you're rich to begin with...

edit: Wait... whois records say that you bought this domain just a few days ago? How the hell is it possible, in 2006, to actually be able to buy a 3-letter .com domain?

APUFAN
08-19-2006, 07:03 PM
lol I actually have a bimmer already , I am not rich as one would think rich, nor am I poor, just comfortable. :)

I would think there would be a rich Apu fan out there somewhere ! ;)

I'd find out how much it is actually worth. A domain that gets that many hits by people just typing it in is worth a lot of money. There are people that own thousands of domains and just park them for the advertising money.

Adam

i'm sure whatever offers they're making you are lower than they are prepared to pay. imagine if ten years ago someone owned the domain 'google.com' and the google company paid the previous owner ten thousand dollars for it.

APUFAN
08-19-2006, 09:30 PM
Well I put it on ebay, hope a guy named Apu see's it...lol Thanks for the advice guys.

Holy crap, he wasn't kidding about the offers:

I still don't understand how somebody is able to buy a 3-letter domain in this day and age and sell it a week later for thousands of dollars. The only explanation is that you paid thousands of dollars for it to begin with.

No one ever answered your question. But most likely yes, Hank Azaria is in the film, of course, so I would say yes. And especially if all the other characters are, I mean, Sideshow Bob is gonna be in it so the bigger names are sure to be.

lol...I did pay dearly for it at the time. Transfer of ownership was a LONG drawn out affair. I have actually had it longer.

Ebay is going so so, had high offers to end it but declined. Wish there was a way to let the big guys know about it ;)

APUFAN

Enough that $13,600 is still a ways away...lol The $50K BIN was a " just because I can " thing, the actually acceptable price is much lower.

You should try and find some companies that have the initials A.P.U. Like the "American Pie Union" or something. And in the meantime, you could stick a buttload of adverts on there and see how much you make.

 All in the eye of the beholder imo.

To an average Joe a million is rich, to a millionaire a multi-millionaire is rich etc etc etc.

Uh ok... and to 99.9999% of the world's population (i.e. "everyone"), $1 million is an unimaginably large amount of money that they're never going to see in their lives.

Well, depends how you look at it. I live near Toronto Canada, where 1 in 50 households have one million in assets. Not cash but assets. $700K plus homes, mercedes etc. Not poor but not rich in comparison to say the average assets in California per household based on similar population comparisons. Its all about expendable cash. If I own the $700K home clear, my cars , have investments and THAN have X,XXX,XXX I am rich 8-) But not a guy with $XX,XXX,XXX a bigger house etc.

Rich Uncle Skeleton
09-13-2006, 02:34 PM
So? My family home is probably worth more than £100k, but that doesn't mean that £100k is a small amount of money; even 10 grand is still a lot to us.

Binky

No, it really doesn't. And I can't even understand the last couple of sentences in that post.

Drew

Doubtful.

Ok, so Apufan became a member of this board expecting that someone will be a Simpsons fan and be willing to drop $20x1500 (30grand) on his domain and create a simpsons site.

How far do you think this will go?

APUFAN
09-14-2006, 02:08 AM
lol Ok kill the thread. No point in continuing. I think everyone views rich differently and I am wrong. What can say ?

And Drew I am sorry you cannot have a 5 figure name for $20 and seem a little bitter in your reply. Thats ok I understand. Later guys.

What the hell are you even talking about? Even if anything you said did make sense, there's still the matter of this:

e. Spamming: Paid advertising for websites or products, or off-topic plugging of websites in unrelated threads. New members take note: members that make their first post by starting a thread advertising a website of any kind are deleted, since we pretty much assume that those members are joining simply to spam the board.
Which means this thread should've been locked and you should've been banned three weeks ago.
