View Full Version : The world of tomorrow! What do you want the future to bring?

I haven't made a topic in a while, so I thought I'd brush up a bit with a pretty good one. At least...I think it is.

http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/8005/cona011ob7.md.jpg

In the yeeear 2000....

We are about to take a spine tingling journey into the future NHC...

Anyways, something that came to mind in a recent topic here is how it seems like everyone has a different opinion or maybe even desire when it comes to what we want to happen to our favorite Simpsons characters (or characters in general).

So in this topic, what do you want to happen to your favorite Simpsons characters (well any in general)? Whats your personal future for them?

Of course you can go by something shown in one of the episodes (or comic), or an extension of that but don't feel obligated to stick only to that...say whatever you want as long as its the future of the character.

And no arguing over whats "canon" here. :D The canon is loose in this series as it is, so its even less so for the future. And come on...its the unknown future, all the episodes(Plus one comic story) released so far contradict eachother in a lot of ways. That combined with the fact they're "events yet to come" means they may or may not happen, depending on how you yourself want the future to be. (remember Frink rolling up "welcome Maggie!". ) Just have fun with it.

Here's some of mine.

==============Great Scott! We're going to the uncertain future! >>>>

Mayor Quimby: Mayor Quimby's little "problems" start to get out of control. His wife pleads, but realizes that he's a lost cause and walks off...all the while publishing a book full of all of his most dubious exploits. On the eve of reelection, the book becomes a national best seller as a symbol of corruption in the offices of government, as well as the story of a pity-worthy man devoid of self control. Quimby loses the election by a landslide, his long-running reign over Springfield finally over. Quimby dissapears shortly after, and becomes a taxi driver under an alias in order to escape the hounding press. Its rumored that in later years, left with nothing else...Joe quietly pleaded for his wife to take him back. Ironically, the woman he ignored for years and treated like a "last resort" was now the woman he was begging to get together with....since no one else would. No one's sure what happened to him after that, although its rumored a future Mayor of Springfield ended up being one of his illegitimate children.

What can I say? His fate in Lisa's Wedding is so fitting its ridiculous. No one has more negative karma going their way for a return run than Diamond Joe I think. Not even Wiggum, Moe, Homer, and Bart combined!

Maggie Simpson: Maggie eternally remains one of the most mysterious members of the Simpsons family. Hot blooded and with a firey...but quiet spirit...Maggie goes on to do quite a few things in her life from a deep sea explorer who discovers the world's first "Sea Horse Shark" and indirectly discovers that Atlantis sank because its inhabitants were so ignorant, that they thought their city could stay afloat if they replaced the rock of the island with goat cheese. Its rumored that Maggie dabbles in the professions of Assassin, SWAT team shock trooper, Astronaut, Archeologist, professional cook, and even partners with her old uncle Herb for a while and increases his company's stock by quite a bit. Maggie develops into a very fiesty young girl with an indominable spirit...because anyone who crosses her gets the crap beaten out of them!

Of course however, she makes occasional stops in her busy life to visit old friends, her beloved family, and her surrogate "second" dad Moe. Even if his smile is creepy as hell. Her relationship with her siblings is somewhat neutral, although she's often there to play the middle man during the tougher times.

====

Thats all for now, but I will be adding more. But what do you want the future to hold for certain characters? Have fun with this one, I'm anxious to see what some people here come up with or have always thought.

Feel free to contradict mine as well, or anyone elses. Its YOUR future for the character.

Edit: I went a bit overboard with the OP post so I shortened it a bit.

(A lot of you know/are annoyed with my ideas, if you are familar, please skip to the next post!)

Bart, age 22: Swinging single and smooth radio personality, Bart's the host of the KBXL morning show (KBBL was brought out) and has to share the morning show with the vendicative, and sultry Jessica Lovejoy.

Lisa, age 20: The only Simpson Child to escape Springfield, Lisa travels all over the US and Canada in her little Beetle convertable, spending her life playing in Jazz/Blues nightclubs, trying to find her musical self. However, the saddest part of her life is how Maggie is jealous of her for being the overachieving "glory hog". One day, Lisa hopes her little sister will be her friend again.

Maggie, age 13: The most 'forgotten' Simpson child has become the most aggressive. To work out her angst for not being noticed, Maggie had overcompensated and worked out vigorously since she was 8 years old. Now, a somewhat tough tomboy, Maggie spends her time working out, or chilling to her favorite Beatles albums, or keeping any eye out for her preppie younger brother, Eric.

Eric, age 10: The new kid who is relentlessly spoiled by Marge has developed a bit of a preppie side. Already having a girlfriend, Eric's a bit snooty, yet he can come back down to earth if there's a party, or other event. Always wanting to be the center of attention, he's like Bart, but unlike Bart, Eric tries to keep up with his grades and hopes one day to be an actor, or fashion model.

How about, Bart follows in Otto's footsteps and drives the Springfield Elementary School school bus, and hangs out in Moe's occasionally. Lisa is Mayor of Springfield, because Quimby, after carrying his term for several years, lost the mayoral election against Lisa, as she was the first after Sideshow Bob to run for mayor against Quimby. Homer and Marge continue to live a happy life at their old home. Homer quit his job after Grampa, who took charge of the Retirement Castle, entrusted the establishment to Homer in his will. Homer must merely occasionally overlook special events, but aside from that, he does nothing but receive friendly donations, which he has used to work his way out of debt. Patty and Selma also left Marge with all of the money they earned over their lifetime, as they have passed on. Mr. Burns died of old age, and Smithers has become head of the Power Plant, following in Burns' footsteps. Ned Flanders continues to run the Leftorium, lament Maude's death, and remains Homer's enemy. Maggie is a teenager attending Springfield High School. Dr. Hibbert has retired, but his son has earned a medical degree and continues to work at the General Hospital. Dr. Nick still remains there, unfortunately. Lenny and Carl quit their jobs at the power plant to become co-owners of Moe's, as the business expanded, and is now one of the most popular places in Springfield. Moe continues to work there, though, even in his old age. Skinner has become the super-intendant, ever since Chalmers and Agnes passed on, and Krabappel is now principal of Springfield Elementary. Otto has taken Edna's place as a teacher, being the only one available to take the job. Groundskeeper Willie runs a cleaning service and makes a lot of money, but continues to live in his shack behind the school. Apu still runs the Kwik-E-Mart, which has also boomed in business, ever since the invention of the all-flavored Squishee machine. Chief Wiggum has gotten on in years, but still tries his best to keep crime to a minimum in Springfield. Eddie and Lou continue to be police officers as well, even though crime has doubled as a result of Snake's son's assisting him in his crimes. Ralph has become a billionaire, after having randomly spouted out the formula solving the mystery of life. Sideshow Bob and Krusty reunited after Sideshow Mel quit his job to become a late night talk show host. Sideshow Bob turned his life around, and now he and Krusty remain the pinnacle of TV programming. Kent Brockman has retired, and now his place has been taken by the Bumblebee Man, who happens to have a talent for journalism. Frink has given birth to a son who assists him in the observatory, and Comic Book Guy owns a chain of comic book stores across Springfield.

I just thought all that up off the top of my head, inspired by the topic of this thread. I may just use these ideas later.

In the year 2025...

Homer's still stuck in that same boring job at that same boring nuclear power plant, a position he's held for life. Unfortunately, age is creeping up to him, he's no longer as well off physically, and when he tries to jump out through the window and break the glass, he dies. He also kills Marge when his 400-pound frame suffocates her after the fall.

Grampa Simpson outlives his son, and manages to live for 122 years and 164 days, tying the old record set by Mr. Burns' mother before she died (in a never-before-seen outtake that happened shortly after "Homer the Smithers"). Upon recognition by the Duff Book of World Records, he realizes that Burns' mother is "the world's oldest woman" that he once had a crush on. Realizing that he wasn't good enough for her, he decides to take his life and be recognized after death for being in the record books together with his old crush, something he was never able to accomplish while living.

Bart feels bad about himself, having never worked at any "real job" by the age of 18, while all of his friends have landed one or two. Fortunately for him, Krusty the Klown has been banned from TV for life after killing his cameraman, and he decides to live the rest of his life with his biggest fan, Bart Simpson. Krusty tells Bart that he was in the exact same situation at his age, and that going into comedy is the one profession that he can go into. After his standup routine at his high school prom was a great success, he landed a show on Channel 6 where Krusty used to be, then received national attention when he single-handedly led ABC to the top of the late-night talk show ratings. When he was offered a $100,000,000 contract to continue working on the show, he refuses it and decides to go back to Channel 6, so that his newborn children can watch his show like he watched Krusty's. It wasn't as successful as his late-night show, but he refuses to go off the air as long as the most important people in the world - his children - are watching.

As Bart is becoming a famous comedian, Lisa's incredible skills as a hockey goaltender landed her in the 2014 NHL draft at the age of 16, where she signs with the Toronto Maple Leafs. She plays with them for 11 years, and in 2025, the Leafs make the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 58 years. Unfortunately for her, the pressure is seriously on. The situation in Toronto has gotten so bad that the city won't forgive her if the Leafs lose the series. She goes on to lose the first three games of the series, but while losing, the team gradually starts to develop a winning strategy, and she posts three consecutive shutout victories. Game 7, watched by 30 million Canadians and 3 million Americans, is tied 1-1 with 3:33 left in the third period when Lisa decides to put her backup goalie, Milhouse, in the net for the Leafs, seeing as how he hadn't received a single minute of playing time in the playoffs. After watching her team win the game 2-1, and a great celebration from the City of Toronto, she announces her retirement from the NHL, saying that there is no better joy than what she is currently being offered, and she always wanted to retire on a high note. She marries Milhouse and starts a family.

Maggie, having not said a word to her family in her life, takes advantage of her lack of one intelligence to emphasize the others, and goes down in history as the second best student at Springfield Elementary School after her sister Lisa. Truth is, she speaks quite fluently - until she develops ALS while typing her thesis. This is where she starts to develop into a Stephen Hawking-type genius, working on such topics as achieving world peace and solving all of society's problems. But before she can release any of her books and essays, she dies at age 21.

While Bart and Lisa have put their sibling rivalry behind them, a new rivalry emerges between their children when Lisa enrols her child in a private school. Bart, mad at the fact that her child gets to have an education (in 2025, Springfield Elementary School officially became an anarchy), talks about how great his child is, claiming that he's more worthy of the school than Lisa's. They - and their children - fight over the one remaining spot in the school, and eventually decide to give it to the third candidate, Ralph Wiggum's child (actually a mouse). Surprising all, he graduates at the top of his class.

Deciding that the only thing significant in their lives is the rivalry, both Bart and Lisa's children kill themselves. Bart and Lisa are now the only surviving members of the Simpson family. To be continued...

Parody song "In the Year 2025" plays over the end credits.

Bart Simpson

When Bart graduated from high school in 2000 he tried to make it as a rock star. When that failed, he took up a job at the local Save-O-Mart as a 'Produce Placement Officer' (shelf stacker) then in 2008 after deciding that 'mindless distruction is more his thing' he took up a job at Down With Buildings Demolition Company.

Lisa Simpson

Lisa gave up jazz music for ever when she was given a rather cutting review by a judge at a Jazz competition at the age of 12. Burying her sax in a trunk in the backyard. After graduating from high school in 2003, Lisa was accepted Sansdale University. In 2007 she had an almost relationship with a high school senior called Duncan Forrester, but it didnt work out. In 2010 she met what she thought was the man of her dreams, a suave sophisticated British exchange student Hugh Parkfield. Well, you know what happned next ;]

Maggie Simpson

Rough young hellion and former member of the Heaven's Devils motercycle gang. Though she was kicked out when her 'leather' jacket was found to be synthetic. After reciving a DUI at the ripe old age of 17, Maggie vowed to turn her life around and settle down. She hasnt done it yet but its the thought that counts.

Wow TFDonut, you really had a lot to get out. :silly: Some pretty nice idea's though. Homer running a retirement home is kind of interesting and funny at the same time. Moe's tavern becoming this big thing is certainly different. A part of me would wish the guy would get a break and get something like that.

Ralph becoming a billionare because he randomly sprouted incredible wisdom (in this case the secret of the universe or something) is a stroke of genius. :D

Although doesn't Frink already have a kid in the show?

And man...Handsome Pete. Think that future could of been any darker? lol Just when Bart was turning things around...fun though in a morbid kind of way.

Jake, I'd be interested to hear your distinct future for the other characters as well, coming from the little continuity of your story.

Its been fun so far, I'll post more later today...I got some thoughts. The future's a fun subject. Although I'm not sure whats going on with the Cola Wars.

Frink has a kid, but in the future he has gotten older and has devoted his time to helping Frink. Anyway, thanks a lot for the comments, Kiyosuki. I might post more later.

This fits just a bit better with Itchy and Scratchy studios because it has to do with specific, personalized stories of Springfield, its characters, and such unbounded by show restraints, even if it's in a discussion format where everyone contributes their ideas in one thread.

Jake, I'd be interested to hear your distinct future for the other characters as well, coming from the little continuity of your story.

"Maggie & Eric" is mostly new, secondary characters, but I here's some history of what happens to the current supporting cast:

Seymour Skinner and Edna Krabopple: Both eventually are wed during Seymours first stint as mayor of Springfield (and when Edna was the principal of Springfield Elementary) and they have a son, Arlie. Shortly after, Arlie's tenth birthday, they get a divorce, Edna beats Seymour for the Mayor, but Edna looses to Seymour in a recall election and they remain seperated. Meanwhile, Arlie develops a big head and becomes the bully of the 4th grade.

The Lovejoys: Timothy Lovejoy seperated from Hellen one year after the current series and sells the church and with the cash, he lands a spot on Channel Six's sunday morning lineup as a greedy televangelist. Meanwhile, Hellen and Jessica move to Shelbyville. At Shelbyville high, Jessica becomes a champion swimmer and seeks a career in broadcasting. After a couple of years in college, the new XL communications division arrives in Springfeild and buys out the TV and Radio (KBBL) stations. Upon graduation from the Shelbyville Higher Institute of Technology, Jessica lands a job as co-host on Bart's morning show at KBXL. Unfortunetly, Bart has never forgiven her for the time they were "friends" back in the day and Jesssica is frustrated that Bart is the one guy she cannot seduce.

Lenny and Carl: The twosome move out of Springfield and wind up getting an Office job in Shelbyville. After nearly a decade of cubicle life, the pair take a loan out and open a Sports bar and purchase the Shelbyville Irons minor league baseball team.

Laura Powers: Her first trip to Springfield found her in Bart's bed as a one-night stand. Very secretive, she's not to keen on devulging any info on her past. When she makes her second appearence in Season 39, she's dating Milhouse in Canada. Meanwhile, unknown to Bart, she's wanted in the USA for credit card fraud.

Ralph: When Ralph entered adult hood, he was let out of the Special schools prematurely do to the school closing due to a lack of funds. Broke and with his parents retired and moved away, Ralph tries to make it on his own doing various odd and/or dangerous work. He meets Bart and Jessica, once, and he tries to make it in this episode from Season 7:

"Ralph, who's been the current Springfield Goofball, is assigned to be Bart and Jessica's sidekick on the morning show as the guy who does the crazy, on-air stunts and is too stupid to say "no." When his antics become more popular than Bart and Jessica, the original duo try to get Ralph in a stunt, while not killing him, that'll make him rethink his career. "

Ned and Racheal Flanders: Ned and Racheal have tied the knot and are living in Capital City. Rod and Todd couldn't be happier, at least on the surface. While Rod is following in Ned's footsteps and a 'good' Christain, Tod runs away from home and has become a thug.

Moe: Moe's Tavern is shut down after many years and dejected, aging Moe, with some financial help from Homer, reopens Moes in the end of a strip mall that is where Moes used to be.

Mmm...not quite what I had in mind for the thread, but its cool.

Another...kinda long one. So only one this post.

Good old Moe:

Moe continues to be well...Moe. The decietful, hateful, sarcastic but lovable fly on the wall in Springfield. Little does Moe realize however, that his relationship with Maggie will become a sort of second calling for the aging bartender. As the Simpson baby grows up little by little, Moe goes through a period of his life where he becomes downright desperate for a relationship not just to get with a woman...but to start a family of his own before its too late. Sadly, all his options fall flat, even Krabappel.

Although saddened by this, and of course...given a few more thoughts towards Suicide...Moe starts to realize that he's quite a presence in young Maggie's life as she comes by to the Tavern more and more to say hi. Always there for eachother, Maggie becomes Moe's best friend as he realizes that he doesn't need a family, he already has one...even offering Maggie her first part time job (without any of the sleezy stuff of course!). In other words...Moe becomes her second father as predicted. Her firey, witty attitude and his sarcastic, rough manner go together perfectly and the two enjoy a number of years as close friends...Moe often having been there for Maggie's more difficult moments growing up when Homer couldn't quite relate.

On the fateful day Maggie's thrillseeker life takes her away to lead quite an adventure of a life, Moe once again finds himself alone...but not quite as sad as before. During this time of his post middle age, Moe's bar becomes a bit of a well known novelty..having been witness to so much of Springfield's quirky history. With nothing else to do, Moe actually brushes the place up a bit and the bar enjoys pretty impressive success as Springfield builds itself up into a full fledged (but still somewhat notorious) city. Maggie writes to Moe often, which Moe eagerly awaits. One day Maggie comes back and offers to take Moe on a vacation to the tropics, and claims that she could pull a favor to have Moe "finally escape" and retire comfortably in the island paradise. Although tempted, Moe refuses much to her surprise. He tells her that the Tavern's all he knows now, and he's made it well known for only one reason...to leave it to her when he finally bites the dust. Moe lives the rest of his life quietly, running the tavern....having found content in his little niche of a life finally.

(What can I say? I want Moe to be alright. I love the idea of him becoming a surrogate father to Maggie, I actually hope that stays even remotely canon. I thought a kind of bittersweet future went with Moe well.)
