liverpool are apparently unlikely to play Maccabi in the away leg, what with the current situation in israel, so its meant to now be played in cyprus.

Group draw happening in a few hours. Mourinho cant stop bitching about where they are in pot's. He gets grouped with either Barca, Madrid, Valencia, Inter or Milan. I mean, this is the Champion's League. You are going to playing excellent sides. I wish Mourinho would realize he does not walk on water and the only reason his team is worth a shit is deep pockets. He is a terrible manager. He couldnt carry Rafa's jockstrap.

Stephen McTowelie

sadly thats the mentality of Mourinho (and indeed the chelsea squad): if its not remotely perfect then he'll critisise just for the hell of it. he should be grateful for the opporunity to have the chance to knock one of the "big" teams out. if he's that confident of his squad and shelling out 30 million for shevchenko (who btw i'm gonna go out of my way to get to a chelsea match to see the fucker in the flesh- class forward) for the purpose of "winning europe" then he can't complain
the only teams there chelsea probably can't beat anyway are barca (as proven last year), and inter (who, if gel together well can become the dominant italian side for the first time in aaaaages)

Madrid are a fucking joke, they buy and buy and churn out others (figo, anyone?). too unpredictable when it comes to consistency, although "van da man" could be crucial in europe. Valencia are always unpredictable and Milan are gonna be interesting to watch having lost 3-4 of their key players

i'd kill for chelsea vs inter :D getting so pumped for serieA but the champions league is clearly the daddy

Here we go. Liverpool v. PSV on ESPN 2. Champions League is so fucking great!!

Rafa made a lot of fucking changes. Im not questioning it, but Gerard, Crouch Alonso and Garcia all benched....guess we'll see.

0-0 15'

Well it became obvious late in the first half that Liverpool were playing for the draw. Other than Gerard's curl off the far post they played very cautiously. Draw the road matches, win the home matches and we should be set. I really didnt understand Rafa's decision to bench all of the class from the squad. Perhaps punishment from the Merseyside derby fiasco over the weekend.

I'll take a draw into the second leg at home. PSV did show signs of brilliance and Koné should have had a sure goal in the 24' but he didnt.

Chelsea rolled as expected and I wouldnt be surprised if Celtic lose by 2 or more tomorrow. They seem to be scared of United.

Liverpool game was pretty entertaining last night, I was surprised as everyone was with Gerrard benched. They'll handle the second leg no problems.

Chelsea, game was fairly by-the-numbers. Chelsea aren't fun to watch.

Can't wait for United/Celtic tonight, my brother will be there :( I'd be a lot happier if Ronaldo weren't suspended, but Rooney returning and Saha and Giggs should be enough for us to win.

:bang:

i actually might kinda root for manure in this one. celtic were dicks when they played dc united here. got the tivo going, hope i get some time to watch it

smyce

Celtic were dicks today again too and were incredibly outclassed. If thats the best Scotland has they may never win a European tournament again.

What a great game! Fast paced, plenty of goals, Solskjaer, and a united win :D

Unfortunately Giggs is going to be out for 3 weeks with a hamstring, which is terrible news as he was having an excellent season and really making a difference in our games. Park is also injured and will be out for 3 months (!!), meaning most of our pace and crosses lie with Ronaldo for the time being, and his crossing still needs improvement I reckon.

well yeah but liverpool's match with Galatasaray should have been a guarantee.

it nearly wasn't.

They were up 3-0 and slacked off. Shouldnt have slacked off and better teams will make em pay, but the game was never in question.

Spartan
09-27-2006, 05:30 PM
things aren't a guarantee when all it takes is a goal to equalise. i don't care how big of a start they were off to, which i'm well aware of.

Bremen outplayed barca by all accounts, and should have won, but they didn't. so what does it matter?

can't get enough of that crouch goal :D

What an incredible game. I dont think Chelsea will be stopped this season. They looked fucking great against Barça today. Too strong in the defense with the addition of Sheva and Ballack...goodness they just have too much. I think if any team can beat them its Barcelona but no one else has a shot.

Crouch last second header gave the Reds the win today. Given my previous paragraph I dont really give em much chance to win, but at least make a run.

Spartan
10-18-2006, 03:40 PM
remind me again why i put money on barca.

:bang:
10-19-2006, 06:01 AM
how does that work? odds wise

Spartan
10-19-2006, 11:26 AM
euro betting...you bet on either team to win or the draw. for this weekend.

man u - 1.92 (favourite)
draw - 3.23
liverpool - 4.16 (underdog)

a ten dollar bet on either, you win, you get ten times that figure. o/u works in largely the same way.
