Simple thread, ask if anyone else ever played certain games and discuss.
Anyone into the Oddworld series? Munch's Oddyssey was pretty poor, but the original two were great. I completed Abe's Oddyssey (with the bad ending :() and it was good, but not great, some bits were over frustrating (getting back into Rupture Farms for one). Abe's Exoddus is probably my fourth favourite game of all time (after Resi 1-3). So much fun on that game and it wasn't too hard and not too easy. Best moments:
-Making Muddokens really depressed until they smack themselves in the head until they die
-An 10 year old me was in love with the cut scene where Phleg called Abe "A blue bastard"
-Chucking grenades at sligs
-Being a Glukkon and getting Sligs to do your biddings
-The part where you run away from a huge number of Paramites
-Fighting with Scrabs
-Possesing Sligs, possesing Glukkons, possesing Scrabs, possesing Paramites and of course...POSSESING FARTS! :D
Also, did anyone ever play Hogs Of War? Think Worms 3D + pigs x 1000000 in quality + Rik Mayall. Had so much multiplayer fun on that. Never completed it though. Rik Mayall was a hillarious commentator.

Rented and played Abe's Oddysee a few times back in the day. It's been so long since I thought about this game. Loved it.
Maybe I oughta look for it now...

I've never played any of the Oddworld games, but I've heard very good things. They seem to have a nice amount of personality and manage to create innovative and fun experiences.
As for another game, I just finished playing through Dragon Quest VIII for the first time, and even though I never owned a previous Dragon Warrior or Quest game since the original, I've always admired the series as a whole. This most recent entry has been one of the most fun RPG experiences I've had for a long time. Seeing the classic monsters in cel-shaded 3-D was alot of fun (slimes, drackees, skeletons, among others), and the gameplay was simple, yet deep, and really satisfied my cravings for more classic style RPG gameplay with it's huge worlds, high difficulty, and level-raising system. The story was engaging and interesting without an overabundance on CGI cut-sequences or gratuitous plot-twists. The fun mini-games and quests along with the wonderful production values made me a very happy gamer. Has anyone checked this game out recently?

I used to love abe's exodus, I actually got the good ending once, but some douchebag borrowed the game and took off

Exoddus is definately worth looking out for. I don't have a PS1 anymore, so I was looking around and I found this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00004VWYI/202-7906568-7235043?v=glance&n=300703). I don't know anything about PC games but that 95/98 is minimum right? If it is, I know what I'm hunting down. You can't argue with £1.19.

I have all the Oddworld games. My favourite PS1 game was Abe's Oddysee & My favourite Xbox game was Munch's Oddysee (I actually got the good ending in this one. I've seen the bad ending on Youtube and what happens to them is pretty nasty)

These (along with Stranger's Wrath) are on my list of stuff to play. Someday...
Ever play Gish (http://www.crypticsea.com/gish/)? This game is like platforming reborn, and it sucks that it never took off like it should have. There's a sequel in the works that'll hopefully be released for consoles (hunched over a keyboard is no way to game).

Abe's Oddyssey was probably the 3rd or 4th game I got for ps1, and yeah it was very good, very creative, with a real sadistic sense of humour, the squealching sound as you cause the sligs I think it was, (the armed guards) to explode is forever etched into me memory.

Whoa, I remember this thread. Since this, I downloaded the first two Oddworld games (only worthy ones IMO, never got into Munch and I haven't played the other one, but it's such a departure) and they're still just as awesome as before.

I bought my friend the Odyssey: Munch's World? I think that's what it was called I'm not sure. I heard it was a pretty fun game. Kind of weird. I got to play it some day.

I found Abe's Exoddus last month, and from what I've played it seems pretty fun but has yet to fully grab me. Never played Oddysee, and it seems to be a tad tricky to come by these days. Munch's and Stranger's Wrath were fairly medicore.
Also, did anyone ever play Hogs Of War?
I remember wanting to play that when it first came out, but this was during the Great Game Rush of Fall 2000, and it kinda got buried in the shuffle. Suffers the same fate as Team Buddies, another similar game out at that time I wanted to play but is now very hard to get without blowing lots of $$$ on eBay for a copy.
How about Incredible Crisis for the PS1? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incredible_Crisis)
Pretty funny mini-game fest. A lot of it is just mash the designated buttons a la an Olympics game, but there are some like answering obscure trivia in an ambulance to keep from getting thrown out that are more interesting. Worth getting if you ever find it and are looking for something weird.

Yes!That game was incredible.Pretty weird though. The story's basically a sequence of random events involving running through a corridor while a giant globe rolls after you, trying to bail water out of a boat after accidentally pulling a stopper out while a fat sailor jumps on you(Then doing the same thing again like 3 times at different points in the game),becoming really small for some reason I can't remember, having to climb up and anthill, and skiing
down a mountain while being chased by people dressed as wolves, and so on.
So yeah,it doesn't really make sense but that's why it's so great.I should actually play that again, now I think of it.I got to the last level where you're on a bike and the wolves are chasing you with a wrecking ball, but I never actually finished it.

Yeah it's pretty good.I wouldn't go so far as calling it amazing.I've got the ds version though, which is filled with loads of shitty glitches.Like how you can only reach the last level by playing the second last on story mode, meaning you can't do it on freeplay mode and get all the cannisters, which kinda sucks.
Anyone played pokemon snap?It seems to be one of the less remembered pokemon games but it's pretty underrated in my opinion. The idea of photographing pokemon doesn't sound that entertaining but it's a pretty decent and addictive game.

Good subject. I haven't played any of the ones so far, so I'll throw out another one. I'm guessing that Magnum, Gunstar, and skittle might be able to help me out on this one.
The Battle of Olympus

Anyone play/remember this game? I remember seeing it for the first time at a friend's house. His older brothers thought it was great since they went to a high school named "Olympus" and since the cool high school-age kids thought it was cool, we thought it was cool. Since then I've played it as recently as last week, and still think it is the best side-scrolling RPG on the NES.
Here's some screenshots to help you remember. I'd really be interested to know if anyone else ever played this game or was this some weird obscure game that we just happened to find and like as kids?

battle of Olympus was fun, I always love games where you can name the character and all the other characters would save his name, I'd usually name the main character douche or homo

Battle of Olympus looks like a straight rip of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Seriously.
And I remember Hogs of War. Really fun for a tactical wait 'n move game.

Anyone play Snow Bros?
Yep. Too much like bubble bobble to be completely interesting.
Speaking of similar, parts of The Battle of Olympus are sort of like Zelda II, but there are enough differences that they are completely different games. The only similarity I see is how they are open-ended side scrolling games. In TBoO there is no "overworld" concept like Zelda II.

never played Olympus. looks pretty decent though.
I bought an interesting fire fighting game earlier this year called The Ignition Factor. Anyone ever play? It's slow but kinda good.

Oh I could go on forever about obscure games.
Anyone ever played Torin's Passage on the PC? It was a brilliant adventure game that is still my favourite PC game.
Or how about Rocket Knight Adventures or Quackshot on Mega Drive? Both great games that sapped away many happy days of my life.
