Anybody ever have one of these? Despite the fact that it was never really popular, it's not that bad of a system. I got mine out today and played it for a while. I never remembered the controller being quite that uncomfortable, but Crazy Taxi is still incredibly addictive.

I got one at launch and still love it today. The system was quite popular in late '99, but once the PS2 hype machine got going, it just couldn't survive. All the buzz was on Sony, and that (along with many other things) resulted in the DC having one of the shortest (and greatest) lifespans in gaming history. I'm still shocked looking back at just how many innovative or top-teir games came out in the year and half of its life. Shenmue and Jet Grind Radio remain two of my all-time faves. Crazy Taxi has held up incredibly well, and Fire ProWrestling D is the best 2D wrestling game I've played. The DC homebrews I've played have also been fun. Each Beats of Rage variant is good in quick bursts, and I hope that more high-quality homebrews get released for it.

Dreamcast's are pretty great, despite being horribly unreliable, with cases that easily break and discs that are extremely scratch sensitive. Soul Calibur and Power Stone are good and I haven't really played that much Crazy Taxi. Of course I couldn't not mention CHU CHU ROCKET! I love that game, it is simply an incredibly addictive, interesting and original puzzler.

the console that was ahead of its time.

my friends used to burn emulator games and play them on the dreamcast back in 99. and would stay up all night playing night of the living dead with 2 light guns

I never had one but if I did I'd play Powerstone all the damn time. Loved that in the arcade.

powerstone! i've been playing the dreamcast while i'm over at my dad's lately... it started as "damn, my gamecube isn't out here... i guess i'll play with this," but now i'm completely addicted to crazy taxi and powerstone. unfortunately, those are the only two games i can find for it :-/

I've got one lying around somewhere, although it's a bit knackered and I've not played it for years.

I didn't really get too much use out of it. I bought one of those rip off console + 4 games packs, which included Rayman and Chu Chu Rocket which were both terrible, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing which was OK and some lacklustre football game.

I was pretty disappointed with it, although maybe I should've given it more of a chance. I only bought one further DC game, which was NHL 2k. NHL was damn good, but I gave up on the Dreamcast a couple of months after buying it to focus my efforts on playing Time Crisis :-X

you can get a deamcast for uber cheap at a gamestop. think I bought a second one for 19.99 or 29.99. still have my original. skies of arcadia hooked me big time. so much that I bought a prettier version of it for the gcube. with a few extras. sega sports titles were always the best. phantasy star...yeah wasted a lot of hours online with that.

I will never, ever sell my 'Cast. Lots of great games that I still play sometimes. And for the record I never had any real problems with mine, other than discs scratching easily as was said above, but that never actually caused any play problems for me.

Sonic Adventure (despite some problems), Crazy Taxi 1 and 2, Jet Grind Radio and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 were definitely my favorite games.

I never owned one, but my buddy did. I remember that Virtua Fighter and Crazy Taxi kicked ass.

Yeah, Sonic is a franchise that went downhill once games started being 3d.

despite the fact that sonic took a strange turn on dreamcast, I still loved those two games.

I'm playing through grandia 2 again right now, which is a great rpg with probably the best battle system ever. I still have some dreamcast games im after.

also dreamcast.ign.com started up again if anyones interested

i thought my dreamcast was worthless until someone told me that there was no copy protection on dreamcast games, and you could just download the .iso files off of bittorrent and burn them onto a CD-R.

i looooooove marvel vs. capcom 2. crazy taxi is also a classic.

talking about committing some sort of terrorist act against the country is illegal.

I never owned one, but my buddy in college had one. Freshmen year was full of trips back to play NBA 2K and Shenmue.
