Favorite Bart/Lisa episode?

Bart Vs. Thanksgiving
Separate Vocations
Stark Raving Dad
Lisa's First Word (In small dosis)
Lisa On Ice
Summer Of 4'2''
My Sister, My Sitter
The Secret War Of Lisa Simpson
Girly Edition...?
Bart Vs. Lisa Vs. The Third Grade
Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore
On A Clear Day I Can't See My Sister...again
Future-Drama

I think my vote goes to Separate Vocations, mainly because of its tender ending and good writting. In fact, I think I love them all, except for GE,OACDICSMS and FD

There's so many of these ones, its hard to choose.

I think though that Separate Vocations and Milhouse doesn't live here anymore stand out for me personally though.

Separate because it was a pretty cool "trading places" episode. They did it in a way that wasn't cliche, as that premise can become pretty easilly. It was very gradual and almost natural, and it really showed that although they're both very different...in many more ways they're actually the same.

Milhouse doesn't live here anymore I think was the most poignant Bart/Lisa episode because it did two things. It showed their childlike, more innocent relationship...something you see very rarely...and it showed again how similar they are in so many ways. I guess you could say I think its the best one because it showed just how much they love eachother in such a simple way. Underneath all her bravado, Lisa I think really clings to Bart for protection and guidance, its such a simple and ever lasting sibling image.

And the ending I think was one of Bart's finest moments. On the side, it was also kind of cool to see that insecure side of Bart you very rarely see when Milhouse first moves away.

Bart vs Thanksgiving is my favorite. Stark Raving Dad seems sort of like a retread over the basic premise of 'Bart doesn't care about Lisa so he has to make up with her' that was first established in this episode. Because this was the first, it seems so much better. The episode really made me sympathize with both characters throughout the episode, especially Lisa. The ending scene on the rooftop is one of the series' most impacting moments and the fact that it all connected to the idea of Thanksgiving made this my favorite Bart/Lisa episode.

Doesn't Summer Of 4'2'' count? If so, that one.

I don't remember the episode exactly, but when Bart & Lisa discuss how to chop their hands off to get out of chores ..my personal fav!
I like it when they show Lisa's stupid/normal kid side

My favorite of these is clearly "Lisa on ice". Great Bart/Lisa episode, the ending is beautiful - it shows that they love each other.

I like it a lot too. No real good reason, its just such cool to see them think on the same plane of thought.

Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore....I think it was wonderful how they would hang out together even at school. It is a sibling relationship rarely seen anywhere.

They are pretty good overall. I'll probably pick Separate Vocations, though I love Bart Vs Thanksgiving and Stark Raving Dad as well. And MDLHA was very good too. OACDICSMS is a tad underrated actually, but it still can't compete with most of the great others in that list.

Another one you forgot: My Sister,My Sitter.

I thought of that one too..but I don't think is really a Bart/Lisa relationship development episode. Is more likely what would happen if Lisa had to take care of Bart, and is no really connection there (at least not in the traditional one) But if you say so, I'll add it, with the others suggested so far

Does Lisa's First Word count? That's by far my favorite of these. If not, the classic Lisa on Ice will do quite nicely. I always considered that THE defining Bart/Lisa episode.

I agree with many of you that the best Bart and Lisa episode is Lisa on Ice. The ending was really sweet because despite all the conflict and pressure of the hockey game they were able to get over it.

I don't know if I would consider Lisa's First Word a Bart/Lisa episode, but the ending where Lisa's first word was "Bart" was a really cute moment.

Summer of 4 ft. 2. It always makes me feel nostalgic about summertime as a child, cause I was 10 or 11 years old when it first aired. It's one of my favorite season finales, and a good Bart/Lisa episode.

I guess Summer of 4 ft. 2 is a Bart/Lisa episode but I always saw it more as Lisa's best episode.

I always think of the central Bart/Lisa episode as The Secret War of Lisa Simpson. Either that or Bart of Darkness, which I am surprised no one has mentioned. I like them mostly because of their role reversals. For example, The Secret War of Lisa Simpson: Lisa really wants to be somewhere, but winds up hating it. Bart doesn't want to be there, but winds up liking it. Also, Bart of Darkness: Lisa becomes popular, Bart becomes isolated. Lisa has to be the Bart in the episode, i.e.- leads an expedition into the Flanders house while Bart is the Lisa, i.e.- the brains behind the plan.

All good episodes nonetheless.

That's Bart Carny...but I wouldnt exactly say that's a Bart/Lisa episode (the only Bart/Lisa part is the gardenning in the first 3 minutes)...it starts out more of a Bart/Homer episode, and once the family get kicked out of the house then it's a whole family episode...

I'm actually going to say Girly Edition, with MDLHA as runner up.

Although I didn't like Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore it did show the best Bart/Lisa relationship development. Summer of 4 ft. 2 also showed great Bart/Lisa moments but Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore had more so i'll go with that.

I've got to go with Summer of 4 ft. 2 on this one. It's probably one of my top 10. Honorable mentions go to Lisa on Ice and Seperate Vocations as both are wonderful episodes. I really like most Bart/Lisa episodes save for On a Clear Day which does nothing for me.

This was one of my favorite episodes that came out in the past 5 seasons and I just saw it recently. I think it might actually be the best Bart/Lisa relationship.

I like Lisa on Ice, for example, but I think it gets much recognition because Bart and Lisa are put into antagonistic roles against one another and their relationship is forced by others and isn't necessarily a natural development. Their relationship mostly develops because of hatred of one another pushed on them by competition. It's really sudden how they reach that moment of epiphany. Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore builds up their relationship in a new and engaging way (though I am sure it can be argued that Milhouse's leave does the same thing that the parents do in Lisa on Ice, just in a positive way).

I still don't know why Bart of Darkness gets no props as a Bart/Lisa episode. Role reversal executed to perfection. 8-)

My favorite of these is clearly "Lisa on ice". Great Bart/Lisa episode, the ending is beautiful - it shows that they love each other.Agreed. Funny, zany and I think the only episode where it cuts from 3 emotional moments to 3 hilarious moments simultaneously!

Seperate Vocations is the best in terms of exploring character depths though.

Thats two different episodes. XD

They're both in the future though.

Lisa's Wedding (where he's a construction worker) and Future-Drama have some nice Bart/Lisa moments. Bart to the Future maybe just so-so (The one where Lisa is president).

I'm going to have to go with "Separate Vocations". I love the role reversal between Bart and Lisa. It also defines the relationship pretty well with this quote from Bart to Lisa: "You got the brains and the talent to go as far as you want. And when you do, I'll be right there to borrow money". It shows how much Bart really respects her, and in a way, almost needs her to survive. Lisa playing the sax while Bart writes on the blackboard is nice moment and a great way to end the episode. This episode was one of the first to make me realize that, despite their differences, Bart and Lisa really do care about each other.

"Bart Sells His Soul" also has some great Bart and Lisa scenes, but it's not really an episode that focuses on their relationship.

"Seperate Vocations". It was sweet the way the character roles were switched, then Bart saves his little sister at the end. We are shown that Bart has a heart of gold. The last scene is what I would call pure Simpsons perfection.

Maybe not my favourite, but I've always admired My Sister, My Sitter because it dares to do something really different and makes Bart appear quite vindictive and unlikeable in many respects. It could all end up being quite silly by the end but it somehow remains plausible and there's a real sense of a night gradually escalating completely out of control. So much of the episode rang true to me when I think of how me and my sister used to interact and I think that relatability is its great strength. What's also important is that, unlike the bland bickering between the two that seemed to develop through the Scully era and continue through to the present day, the dialogue between Bart and Lisa is sharp and interesting. A very unusual episode which I think deserves recognition for showing the dark side of their relationship, and it doesn't even really offer a sentimental moment at the end to sweeten the deal.

Thanks so much for that insightful contribution...

Lisa On Ice, followed by Summer Of The 4' 2. I really really dislike My Sister, My Sitter. I rewatch it every once in a while thinking that I'll like it better and I just don't. I really hate Bart's characterization, and the plot doesn't seem plausible at all to me. Easily one of my least favorite classic era episodes excluding clip shows.

I think the best one featuring both is Bart of Darkness. Some terrific moments for each throughout the episode, and them annoying Homer with, "Can we have a pool, Dad?" is hilarious.

Word to that. Bart had some real edge that's just not there anymore, and I love how the episode shows how serious and cruel sibling rivalry can be, even among otherwise decent people. Also love that Lisa isn't shown as a saint or victim; she ultimately cared more about preserving her reputation than getting Bart proper medical treatment, so Bart actually was sort of right in a really twisted way. Certainly one of the gutsiest episodes the show has done (and IMO one of my favorites).
