So yeah, this a has already been shown a few times, first on Friday night Fix, then Saturday June 3, but what the heck.

Description:
"In a dark future wasteland, the cities have fallen, primordial beasts have reclaimed the globe and thieves and savages populate sparse, dirty towns. Korgoth emerges from the frozen north, and his merciless savagery may be his only key to survival. Korgoth of Barbaria is an animated fantasy-action-adventure-comedy from Aaron Springer."

Pilot - Korgoth is infected with a deadly parasite and blackmailed by Gog-Ma-Gogg into stealing an item known as the "Golden Goblin of the Fourth Age" from the wizard Specules.

Episode Review:
I enjoyed this pilot quite a bit, good use of ultra violence: beaten with own arm and man set on fire just a few minutes in is always a good sign. I love how hideous everyone looks, like the guy that says "Wait. Listen..." early in the pilot.

The giant pigeon bit was funny, "Hey you dumb bird!" + bitten in half.

The showdown with Specules was funny, and the action scenes were really well animated.
4/5
Series thoughts:
This is definitely an animator's show, headed by Aaron Springer of Spongebob, Billy and Mandy, and Dexter, as well as Gennedy Tartakovsky with an animation credit. It has a great good ol' hand drawn animation, and hand done backgrounds.

Tom Kenney shows up doing a variation of his patchy the pirate voice as the main henchman of Gog ma Gogg. Korgoth is voiced by Diedrich Bader doing his Hoss Delgaldo voice. Acting on Specules was really great.

The only thing I'd like to see is what they have planned for the long run, because the show right now, even though the pilot is great, needs a something a little more if its going to hold up over a few episodes.

Quoting myself from the Last Cartoon You Watched topic:
- Korgoth Of Barbaria: "Pilot" (1/5)
I WANTED to like this. I really really did. I have loved each and every single thing Aaron Springer has done, and Genndy Tartakovsky is Da Man, but I just couldn't get into this. I felt like watching Conan The Barbarian meets Ren And Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon meets The SpongeBob SquarePants Bloody Gore Festival, and that's not good. Not by a long shot. Also, I'm sorry, where was the humor? The character designs, awesome storyboarding and hilarious gags we've come to expect from Aaron Springer? The wonderful animation we've also come to expect from Genndy Tartakovsky? The reason why we should bother to watch this? I'm sorry, but no.

I guess my review if I felt like writing one would be the exact opposite of what Starsky said. I think this show (or episode) is fantastic. I enjoy about 90% of adult swim's original programming; I really can't jump on the "New Adult Swim sucks" bandwagon. (Not saying Starsky did, just in general)

Well, now that I see this thread again, I gotta admit I liked this a hell of a lot more the second time - I guess I was just expecting something wackier and less violence-based on my first watching. I'll definitely tune in if this gets picked up - and it should, it's the best-looking Adult Swim cartoon ever.
And New Adult Swim doesn't suck. Not by a long shot. I believe people just haven't gotten used to it yet.

I thought it was okay. The style's not really my cup of tea, but I do want to see what else they do with the premise since all we've seen is this one episode more than once.

It's reminiscent of Critchlow's Thrud the Barbarian, which I dug, the main difference being the fact that Korgoth is actually smarter than a garden snail. I didn't even know Tartakovsky directed it, but I can definitely see his fingerprints on it, particularly his penchant for shunning dialog in entire sequences, which I also dug.

It kind of reminds me of some kick-ass GWAR comic books I bought at a GWAR concert years back.(Without the X-rated, vomit inducing vulgarity, of course.)
