anyone watch it? been on the decline over the past years, but there are still some good fighters out there.

anyone planning on shelling out for the Hopkins/Tarver fight next Saturday? Could be the Executioner's last fight . . .

Follow it some. Don't order pay-per-views, but when TSN shows live HBO bouts, like the Ricky Hatton fight a couple weeks ago, I watch.

Organizationally, the sport's a train wreck: Too many governing bodies, too many weight classes, too many "champions," too many promoters standing in the way of the fights people want to see, too many embarrassments like the Barrera-Juarez "It's a draw...no, wait!", and the Corrales-Castillo non-fight this past weekend. But still, when you actually get two guys in the ring and they're having a really great fight, it's about as good as it gets in sports.

definitely gonna pay up. this is gonna be a good one. hopkins is trying to do something that hasn't been done before. jump from 160 to 175 and win the title. tarver is a hard puncher, but he's overly defensive and ruins fights. this should be all technical, down to the wire. . .im gonna give it to hopkins.

only really follow aussie boxing. not sure if too many people outside australia heard about the fight, but anthony mundine vs. danny green was a hugely anticipated fight over here, two fierce rivals fighting for the first time. mundine was much too strong and quick in the end.

Hopkins wins. I called it.

Tarver thought he was going to be the bigger stronger guy and just bully Hopkins around the ring and on the inside, waiting to set up that big left hand. But when it was clear Hopkins carried 175 well-- and actually looked better at that weight than 160-- Tarver pretty much knew he was fucked. Because Hopkins is the much better fight-- Tarver had to rely on physical advantages.

Bah flimsham. Wrestling beats boxing down, no contest. It may be predetermined, but the fact that it is just that allows for pre-planned storylines which are laid out for maximum excitement, to take the place of mindless feuds between boorish brutes with no charisma who fight for no reason. The athleticism and moves in wrestling are also a lot more exciting then the 300 variaties of punches that are able to be executed in boxing. Oh, and they have 5+ hours of it per week, so you don't have to wait months before seeing the next fight with some lame tag name like "Rumble in the Jungle", or "Thrilla in Manilla".

taylor-wright was on last night.

that was an entertaining fight for the most part, and I dont disagree with the draw, but Winky has to regret not being more aggressive in rounds 11 and 12. Who knows what he had left in his tank but he had a couple of opportunities with Taylor either backed into a corner or up against the ropes, to take the fight. Looking forward to the inevitable re-match.
