Does anyone here have obsessive compulsive disorder? I think i might, im going to the doctor's soon, but tell me if this sounds like it:

-If i hit an elbow on my locker, i have to reach over and hit the other one.
-If i hear someone curse, i have to click my tongue 5 times.
-When i do schoolwork, i have to touch my pencil to the paper several times before i can write.
-My grades are dropping.
-I cant focus
-Once I come up with something in my head, I have to do it.

Is this OCD? Im pretty sure it is :-/

I made a thread on this awhile back. I've got a few OCD traits, but nothing to get worked up about. I lives with 'em.

You seem to have a problem. The only advice I can give you is to go see a doctor.

Like Gorak above me said, you should probably see an actual clinician about this. And you should probably do some extensive research on OCD yourself if you really believe you may have it, as it tends to be misdiagnosed (particularly in people who are actually Autistic).

A couple of those things sound like OCD, but you'd really need to get yourself checked out and do a lot of research to make sure that it isn't something else.

most people have a number of those tendencies to some degree

I've got some traits like that, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that I have OCD. I may have some obssesive compulsive tendencies, but I just regard them as idiosyncracies, not full blown OCD.

I match every last one of those traits and I... Hey! I just came up with a great idea for a fanscript! Bye! :silly:

Whenever I step on a red floor tile, I HAVE to step on a blue one, or else one of my feet will hurt.

i count how many steps i take in a tile, and i rarely rarely step on cracks.

i'd say this part is a little worrisome. the rest of that stuff isn't so bad, but this is some seriously obsessive behavior. i pretty much concur with Skittle's statement; i get a little obsessive about how i have things organized and how i do things (especially at work) and i'll get pretty frustrated when someone comes along and does them differently or messes up my area, but it's really nothing that does me any harm (in fact, it probably helps me be a better employee in some ways). i also sometimes get the idea that things were a dream when they weren't, and i'll kind of almost convince myself that they were. but eventually i'll always be able to tell the difference between reality and unreality.

but, yeah, you seem quite farther along and i'd check into it at least. basically, if you’re worried about it, that’s probably a sign that it’s something to worry about.

I'm about the get my bachelors in psychology, so ive studied OCD a lot. Most people have compulsions of some kind, what draws the line of whether or not its a disorder is if its affecting your ability to function. A few of the compulsions you've mentioned seem fairly minor to some of the more severe cases ive seen, but if they are affecting your grades and social life, you might want to seek professional help. OCD is something that can get worse if nothing is done about it (as in, people develop more and more compulsions in order to relieve the anxiety their current compulsions cause).

First and foremost, do NOT try and self-diagnose yourself with any disorder. I know it may feel like relief from the anxiety of not knowing "whats wrong with me" to try and find out yourself, but trying to self-diagnose can often just lead to more problems, especially if you convince yourself you have something that you may really not have. Also, nobody on this message board, including me, is qualified to actually tell you what is the cause of your compulsions. Even though it may be an interesting topic of discussion, leave any diagnoses up to a professional. If you see a qualified clinical psychologist, despite any horror stories you might have heard, you will NOT be misdiagnosed.

If you do see a professional, and you are indeed diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, you'll most likely go through a 10-12 week Cognitive Behavioral Therapy process which is relatively fast and very effective. it's nothing to be ashamed of, more people have it than most people realize.

I have a few little things. Like if a drawer doesn't close properly, I have to push it closed to feel right. If I think something is messy, I rip it up and start again. I also hate un even things, or if something is slightly off cue. If I scratch something, say my ear, i have to scratch the other one

Most of my OCD tendencies sort of went into the background when I hit puberty.

Like Navin, I don't like stepping on sidewalk cracks and I try to have an equal number (usually even if I can help it) of steps in each square/rectangle.

When one side of my body makes contact with an object (especially limbs) I try and do the same with the other.

When I clear my throat, I growl a bit to make sure it's cleared.

I double check everything. At work, fuck the customers, I have to make sure the change is right before giving it to them. The irony is it's on been wrong on the double check like a handful of times.

I used to be pretty bad. Now I guess I've channeled all my OCD energy into a full blown depression, because I don't really deal with it much anymore. It used to be pretty bad. It was more emotional stuff than physical touching stuff, though.

This seems like a pretty weak disorder compared to my extremely addictive personality.
