I've always wanted to play guitar, never got around to actually buying one and taking lessons though. So the answer is no
i play guitar, and i'm probably going to start learning how to play bass this summer.

You know what I dislike? People that state they can play multiple instruments just so they can sound like they're some kind of musical genius/cooler than they actually are. Don't say you know how to play the piano just because you had a friend with one.
That being said, the instruments I can actually play are guitar, bass and piano. Used to play clarinet through elementary and middle school, although I switched to the bass clarinet in middle because it was badass.
Oh, and because I'm such a filthy Mexican, I can also play the vihuela, as heard in Mariachi music.

i play guitar decently. i also have a couple harmonicas and a melodica, but those don't take much skill to play (unless you're really good, which i'm not) so i don't know if they count. i also have a bass, but i'm nothing special on that either.

:aww:
Used to play clarinet, percussion, and violin in band/orchestra for elementary and middle school. Unfortunately, save for percussion, that shit is not like riding a bike for me. And I can't ride a bike in the first fucking place, anyway (shut up). My brother was teaching me guitar before he moved out, I haven't progressed with that. And my grandma had an organ/keyboard dealy that she taught my cousins and I to play when we were younger. I can usually poke a few keys and just scrape my way through a familiar theme. What I can't understand is how my grandma can remember jazzy music notes perfectly from years and years ago, yet still mixes up the names of my cousins and I.

Weird seeing this thread. I did 7 years piano private lessons up to grade 5 and got bored with classical stuff. Moved onto guitar now, teaching myself, and I love it. I also play a bit of bass and some percussion. Yesterday I went to the London Guitar Show at Wembley Conference Center. Kicked ass, bought a new cherry sunburst matchbook tigerstripe Les Paul (yes, the real thing). And also, I met Jim Marshall, owner or Marshall Amps and also the creator. I talked to him for a few minutes and got a poster signed

I played a ton of different instruments for years when I was young - piano, guitar, and a lot of gay instruments in the middle school band. I found it all pretty boring though, and I wouldn't know how to play any of these if I tried now.

Alto saxophone. Played it for many years, though I haven't really played it for a good while now. I'm hoping to get back into it in summer or fall. I just haven't had as much reason to play since quitting my private lessons. Thankfully I can usually pick it back up fairly easily even after not playing it for a while.
I also played piano for many years as a kid, along with the recorder (since every elementary kid is forced to play that godforsaken instrument). My dad was/is a piano teacher so I took my lessons from him. Eventually gave it up almost completely, though, and eventually started saxophone. It might've been because I was getting older and needed to differentiate myself more from my parents. But I can still play stuff by ear occasionally.

Everyone who i've ever met in my entire life has said if I were to challenge Lisa Simpson to a jazz-off, I would win hands-down with my baritone! I can still hear my audience, about 500, shouting: "THAT WAS AWESOME! ENCORE! ENCORE!" In my first performance.

like skittle, i dislike people who say they can play many instruments in order to look cool. i find it hard to believe that a 12 year old kid can play 6 different instruments and be able to play them well.

i think it's easier than other instruments (brass and such) to begin playing and easier to get a sound out of it within the first few times. when you start, it's just a lot of memorizing notes and the fingerings that go along with them because there are lots of buttons and keys to deal with. but once you get past the note learning, you can begin playing easier things and build your way up. i think you should try it.

I'll believe it when I hear it.
What do I do to prove it to you that I play those instruments?! WHAT? If I send you an audio clip, you couldn't tell who was playing it, and if I make a video, that would be giving out more personal information that I am comfortable with. Oh, and my friend plays the clarinet, and he says it is very hard. Just because I love music doesn't mean I'm some sort of freak! I don't play instruments to look cool, I play for the sake of playing. You got a problem with that?
calm down, dude. I didn't actually disbelieve you I just wanted to hear you play.

nah, all I want to do is to be able to play actual notes that don't sound like a amplifier being raped by a rhinoceros.

Start out easy. Like with a B flat concert scale. You can find fingering charts on the internet, and they will help a lot.
I started out very, very, early with instruments. That's why I can play so many.
And, no, LPN, brass instruments are MUCH easier. The brass have fewer keys.

awesome dude. dj shadow's "entroducing..." album blew my mind. what program do you use to do that with?
im a big beatles fan and taped a special of them on rage about five years ago and used to watch it almost non stop. i taught myself to play the drums from watching how ringo played them, and have advanced alright, and have had two kits in four years (the first one was a trainer kit and the second is a seven piece). I'm trying to learn the guitar now but it is proving a bit difficult.

I've played organ and flute way back when...
Took organ lessons from since I was 4 to when I was about 11...then got bored. I can still play it, but I'm quite rusty at it now.
Played the flute in elementary and high school...had to play it coz it was "first come, first serve" I sooooo wanted to play percussion but someone already beat me to it
Instruments I'd love to play someday: drums/percussion, guitar, saxophone, piano (not the same as an organ...I find it harder to play)

i've found that if you know how to play the guitar you can pretty easily teach yourself the basics for other instruments. and by basics i mean hitting a series of notes in an unorganized manor and hoping for the best. and by that standard, i'm claming to play the following:
drum machine - competently
keyboard - badly but melodically
guitar - well
harmonica - laughably
bass - competently

Oh, a late reply but my comment earlier was just to pre-empt any jokes about drums not being a proper instrument and drummers not being real musicians.
I don't think anyone would care what I say anyway, and I'm sure most people belive drums are proper instruments, but I just thought I'd make a about it nonetheless, now I wish I hadn't botherd.

my main musical instrument is the baritone, but i can also play the tuba really well. i can get by on the trumpet and i know a little trombone.
i've been trying to learn the guitar. i can somewhat barre chords, so that's an improvement. i can also play the drumset pretty solidly.

I do play a mean recorder though. :headbang
Bass and guitar. Used to play in a covers band. We made a little bit of cash, but propbably not enough to ever make up for the cost of the equipment, and definately not enough to cover all the beer drunk whilst at a gig. I dont think the pub crowd was really ready for covers of songs like Blind Willy Mctell, Venus In Furs and The End.

I think that I'm actually rally good at guitar. I used to think I could never play because I couldn't get a C chord down... That was my first day with one, back when I was 10. I know a lot of songs now. I've never even really had a teacher. I had one for a few weeks, but I taught myself nearly everything I know. When I want to find a song, I try and pick it out, and I've been very successful quite a lot of times. My talent I think is music. I've been in love with it for such a long time. I really love guitar... I play it everyday, for usually 2 hours in all.
