That's what I'd like to know. The thing about the official site is that it is hardly updated. It's like FOX doesn't care about it. Give it to a fan, who is a good designer, and you can expect a bitchin site (for the most part). I realize I am stating the obvious, but I feel that it should be said.

If any Simpsons site should be nominated, it should be the Archive, definitely not that.....thing they call an official site

Fan sites are where it's at, it has always been that way. Official sites try to tell people what they want but never listen to what fans actually want...

Couldn't agree more. Fansites are much more in-depth and dedicated. The networks sure as hell don't know what people enjoy (just look at "Skating with Celebrities"). I rest my case.

Slick.

The only real explanation is, Fox and the neo-cons and buying all the votes. Curse them!

Interesting piece of trivia: The official Simpsons site was one of the first websites to ever use Flash (back when it was still called FutureSplash and not yet owned by Macromedia).
But anyway, when you look at the other nominees in its category, it's obvious thesimpsons.com isn't going to win. Still nice that is was nominated though (probably based solely on the great design of Springfield, which really has nothing to do with web design).

This one really deserves to be nominated, maybe even to win!
Also,I don't think the official site is THAT bad. It has a cool design, but the content isn't great (exept for characters profiles, that's awesome).

Yeah SNPP, Simpsons Folder, or LETS should win it. Simpsons Channel should win a current events award. As for the official site, I have no problems with flash. The problem is that it is lacking content. What's there? Oooo, a store with only three or four items to buy! WooHoo! The episode guide is sparse. It's hardly complete. You would think that the official site would have "behind the scenes type stuff." I get more out of fan sites than the official site. That's just sad. But FOX just wants to keep it plain and unoriginal. So why should people put up with it? This is why we have fan sites.

Exactly. That's why I've never been anywhere near that official site more than once. I mean, their 'townspeople' section in the character bios...ugh.
Plus, I like to see pictures, like grabpics and framegrabs, and a nice variety of them at that. None of them there...

You're only saying that because Lovejoy is not there.

maybe the 'best TV websites' category only allows official websites, which would explain why the official site was chosen over the much better fan sites.

Maybe so, but you've got to admit, considering the fact that this is the official sight, that selection is pretty pathetic.

True, and while it may have been sufficent when it first started up, it's simply sad now. What would be great is if they segmented it into sections of townspeople, Simpson family, the bar....what would have really been nice would have been able to click on the buildings and "go inside" of them.
But why am I even saying this. It will only hurt more if they win.
