The real surprise for this episode is that, with Kit Boss, Garland Testa, and Jim Dauterive all bumped up to the executive producer status, King of the Hill, at least before its pre-emption, was up to NINE executive producers (in comparison to The Simpsons' current eight).
24 Hour Propane People marks the third propane story in less than a month, and is not quite as good as the last two. Buck Strickland is feeling depressed after being banned from his favorite hang-out, and Hank tries to cheer him up by making work more "fun". Buck goes overboard when he brings amusement to a ridiculous extreme.
After three improvements, 24 Hour brings the show back to the Season 9-10 standard, complete with yet another filler sub-plot with Peggy and Bobby. As evidenced by the singing at the ice cream parlor, the humor, which relies heavily on the acting these days, feels very stiff. A few interesting poses and expressions from Buck, but that's about it.
2.75/5
