I've yet to listen to Pop (still waiting for someone to post it in the music sharing thread), but I've heard it's not too great. I just want to have it so I can have a complete U2 collection

I love "Staring at the Sun", what a great song. Haven't heard it in ages. Can't speak for the rest of the album, but it has a terrible name for an album...were they trying to be ironic or funny or something?

Coldplay's X&Y sucks totally. I really liked their first album (don't shoot me), but X&Y descended into Manic Street Preachers-esque sub-mediocrity all the way through.

U2 - Rattle and Hum
Oingo Boingo - Good For Your Soul (production is kind of weak compared to their other stuff)
The Smiths - self titled (same as Boingo)
The Cure - Wild Mood Swings

I personally thought Rush of Blood is their worst. The 1st half is great but it drags in the 2nd half of it.

U2's Pop is so-so, but the songs sounded great live (not to mention a tripper's delight visually). I've heard many times that they're supposed to release a "proper" version of Pop sometime in the future, but who knows.......

My pick: probably too old-school for many, but Yes' Tormato. Actually the songs aren't bad per se, but the production is horribly dated, especially the keys/synth work. Maybe Zep's In Through The Out Door, but it does have "In The Evening" and "Carouselembra" (sp?).....

and I'll definitely avoid anything by the Red Xs......

LA Woman is the best Doors album..........No Code is an amazing Pearl Jam release and shows them being quite creative for a change. And Rattle and Hum is unquestionably the worst U2 album.

And I've been listening to Metallica lately. And I must say Load and Reload are pretty weak. And I've yet to hear St Anger and I know just how popular that is...

I was thinking the same thing...

Everybody seems to love L.A. Woman, but I never thought it was that great of an album. Like I said, "Riders on the Storm" is an amazing song, but the rest of the album isn't that great. The Soft Parade was alright...I love the 2 tracks ("Wishful Sinful" and "The Soft Parade"), but the other 7 songs are kinda sucky (especially "Touch Me"...Ughhhhh).

The self-titled debut, Strange Days, Waiting for the Sun, and Morrison Hotel are the best albums.

wow, I think that that is the only Doors album that is listenable being over the age of 16. It is their only mature record.

and I love Adore from the Pumpkins.

yes, indeed. although i strongly dislike their funky years as opposed to the Californiacation/By The Way era, if you can call it that.

St. Anger is excellent, and Talking Pie agrees about the suckiness of Load.

Curtis, Adore was a great album, IMO.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are a good band, but only in moderation. They tend to overstuff their albums way too much. Californication puts me to sleep after about 4-5 tracks in. Stadium Arcadium would probably kill me.

I like both Adore and LA Woman. Soft Parade is the worst and the 1st track (Tell All the People) is my least favorite song of theirs and don't get me started on Krieger's singing on "Runnin' Blues." The Morrison penned songs on TSP are good though.

LA Woman? What the? Its probably the Doors best album and one of the best drinking albums of all time. Riders On The Storm and LA Woman are two of the best songs the Doors ever made. Then theres The Changling, W.A.S.P, Love Her Madly and the blues numbers. If the Doors ever made a bad album it was The Soft Parade but even that had a few good songs on it.

Eh...opinions are like assholes. I guess I was being harsh by putting it into a thread about "crap albums." It isn't crap. I just meant that it's my least favorite album by the band. I love the Doors' music as much as the next fan, but definitely prefer the aforementioned albums.

I was wondering when Jim was going to make his appearance in this thread to give me hell. ;)
