All she says is "Great story, great angles, great animation" etc etc.
Bah! :-@

Kavner is great!
Leave the woman alone, she probably doesn't know/care that much about how the animation process goes, so she puts in her 2 cents about the pics themselves.

Hey, all I'm saying is that she should say something else because she literally does say only those things in most of the commentaries she's on.

Her lack of knowledge about the show shocked me quite a bit. I mean, asking in Like Father, Like Clown, "is this the first appearance of Krusty?" just makes me wonder if she knows anything at all about it outside of her dialogue recording.

It seemed shocking to me initially, but to be honest, putting it in perspective with how many episodes there are now, it seems far less shocking to me. I think she definitely appreciates and understands the show, but she has a professional career....she's not going to sit down and watch single episodes over and over the way a lot of us would. Most people who work on tv shows don't go back to old episodes all the time. It's understandable that Kavner would make some mistakes, especcially given that she may have simply not seen some of the episodes in a number of years.
That said, I can understand the complaints, but I don't think her comments thare monumentally different from that of the other voice actors. Frankly, outside of adding humourous comments, none of them really add that much...which isn't really their fault, because they didn't write or direct the episodes, so there's only so much they can add that other people on the show can't. I enjoy hearing from them, but I'm more inclined to want to hear from writers and showrunners especcially. And I'd add that I'd absolutely love to hear from Alf Clausen at some point (if you ever have the time, and anyone who posts here probably would....do a search on NPR for an interview they did with him years ago. Really fascinating, and one of the best Simpsons interviews ever).

I do think there is some value to having the actors there, but no one else must realize it because they never ask the actors anything interesting. I think it would be very interesting to hear more about the voicing process, where an actor came up with a particular voice, etc. And it's always nice to have actors present to add some entertainment value. Jon Lovitz was funny sometimes, though I did get kinda tired of the Mike/Al gay jokes...

The voice crew's worked on hundreds of episodes so really I wasn't surprised when either them or the writing staff got something wrong. I mean...you can't expect everyone to remember every little detail over the last 17-18 years.
Eh, you could probably make a similar argument for David Mirkin's commentaries also.
I've always liked the commentaries with each of the voice actors, even the ones with Kavner in them. It's good to hear the voice actors' sides of the episode, learning bits about where the voices come from or the occasional specific bit about an episode. Specifically, I always appreciated the earnestness and enthusiasm from Kavner's commentaries. I think that Jean & Reiss sometimes get a little too shticky during the commentaries, so it's good to have someone like Kavner pointing out the stuff she likes and other observations.

Is it just me or does her laugh sound really forced? That's what annoys me.

she doesn't add anything cause she knows very little about the show
I wouldn't have been surpirsed if she said "that's what Marge looks like?"

Neither her or Yeardley seem to know much about the show, but I enjoy hearing them on the commentaries. Julie does seem to appreciate the hard work behind it, and she praises people constantly.

Yeah, she annoys me. And it doesn't seem like she has as much talent as the other actors, as her voice already sounds pretty close to Marge's, and Marge's voice is probably the easiest to do out of the family.
And as mentioned before, she really doesn't seem to know that much about the show.

Well, it's not that suprising that she's clueless on the technical side of things, as people have said, they've done almost 400 episodes, it's not like they go back and watch every one of them over and over like us fans. And I always thought Yeardley Smith had the closest voice to their character? I sometimes can't tell if she's doing Lisa or just talking regularly. It doesn't matter really how similar the actor's voice is to the character though, as long as long as it's sounds right for the character. And you gotta give Kavner credit, sometimes she does up to five characters at once, most of which have deep voices that would probably hurt someone's throught after doing them for a while.

I find her quite annoying. And I don't care how many episodes you've done, to think that Krusty made his first appearance in "Like Father, Like Clown" is just asinine. Not even the first Krusty episode even.
I don't expect most actors to watch reruns of their shows nonstop, but geez. Dan C. really seems to know his stuff and recall eps pretty well, as did Hank in the few commentaries he did.

Dan C. also written a few episodes...

I know, but the point is, she is annoying, and hearing "great angles" and such is just pointless and interupts something interesting given by someone who knows something about the show, I hope she isn't on any tracks for the next set

I want to know what season she has done commentaries for??
According to www.dvdmg.com :
Season 3:
Stark Raving Dad
Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington
Like Father, Like Clown
Lisa’s Pony
Lisa the Greek
Homer Alone
Black Widower
Bart’s Friend Falls In Love
Season 6:
Bart's Girlfriend
Homer Badman
I personally don't mind Julie on the commentaries, and I think that it's going to be easy to forget certain things at certain times, as others said. Even as a big fan, I can get mixed up with parts of episodes, especially if I've not seen them that much. I find the Krusty comment a little odd, but I'll forgive. And I think that Julie is probably a really nice person, so I won't do too much bitching anymore.

Neither her or Yeardley seem to know much about the show.
Yeardley is still one of my favourites. She's very enthusiastic and interesting and I love her laugh for some reason.
