Hey there!
I wanna know what fans think about the official Simpsons site compared the unofficial sites created by gans. Which is better and why?

Do you really need to ask?

first of all, if fox could hire some cool webmasters to run their simpsons site and access passs to their simpsons floor - it could be a mega-super-official simpsons site which could serve simpsons fans so much better. now, it's just a window with few basic information about upcoming episodes and chracter files.

unofficial sites are offering so much more. go on snnp.com, lardlad.com or simpsonsfolder.com and you know what i'm talking about it!

indeed it is. i think that the official site is stupid like most official sites are because they worry about paying royalties and stuff, we fan sites dont.

That kind of sounds like familyguy.com, with their nice modern design, updated episode info and all sorts of multimedia, a blog written by the show's animators, and even a god-damn weekly podcast. It's unfortunate that Fox wants to spend so much more on Family Guy's marketing than The Simpsons' nowadays.

But now that Fox is going to be offering Simpsons episodes online, maybe they'll step up their efforts on the web and revamp thesimpsons.com. Or maybe not...

At least we can expect something new with The Simpsons Movie website soon.

It'll probably just be a regular old generic movie site with a few video clips and the trailer(s).

jukka's reading my mind. FOX needs one or two dedicated community/web managers to develop content for all of their properties and reinvigorate the communities. Every FOX site uses that god awful forum system with no moderation, and after working in community management myself seeing those sites and forums makes me sick to my stomach.

Atleast Fox didn't Spam there simpsons site with ads like king of the hill, and family guy. Then again fox doesn't really give a crap they care emore about money. But I do think there own site should have some standards for an official site, well lets see, I dont know maybe a Promocard section, and a sketches section. And it would be cool to see some behind the scenes fotage of them making the show. Just those little things can boost that site up.

Unofficial sites are much much better. No doubt about it. The official site is deisgned more for the casual viewer as opposed to us lot.

the casual fan is amused by the HILARIOUS animation at the start...

unofficial sites are better. though, i look at lets, snpp and simpsons folder as if they're official sites.

Official sites has got a nice layout, but unofficial pages are better, because it´s lot of conttext.

By far I choose unofficial sites. The Official Site is excellent....if you are 4 and have no sense of humour. As Brad said, I think they should include sketches and behind the scenes, since a lot of unofficial site have that, and none have behind the scenes that wasn't on TV or something. And maybe an image gallery. Hey, it's in Flash so people can't copy unless they know the prnt screen technique. Which is only really us fans, and if we put it on the net we'd call that person a content stealer. Point proven. Unofficial sites at the moment however give a little something on each site more than thesimpsons.com has ever done.

Amateur but literate nerds (in a good sense anyway, if there is a good sense :) ) are much-much more passionate about what they are doing, designing graphics, gathering material, keeping up with the news/material etc. as opposed to hired professionals that do their job, get paid, and don't care much (and rightly so) about it.

Official sites are still pretty cool (other then the community). What else does the average kid need to know? http://www.whatbadgerseat.com/

Unofficial > Official.

Official aren't that awful though, it's just that unofficial have much more to offer.
