In light of the recent news that theres a possibility that Hank Scorpio might be featured in the upcoming Simpsons movie, I have decided to start a favorite one timers thread, mine is Hank Scorpio, as you may have already guessed.

Homer's seldom-heard-from brother Herb...or did he have two appearances?

Rodney Dangerfield as Burns son... (If he showed up as backgroung clutter in another Ep, does he still count as a "One Timer"??)

Yeah , I think they're a one-timer when they only had a speaking role in one episode.

The Homer

Herb was in 2 episodes. The one where he got ruined, and the one where he got rich again!
I want to see a Cameo by "The Homer"! I think my favorite one-timer was Gabbo. "All the kids in Springfield are little SOB's." he would say. Scorpio is a close second, but a prime candidate for the movie if you ask me.

Larry Burns was a pretty funny one-timer character, other than him i would agree with Talking Pie and say Roy.

Scorpio is definitely up there, by my all-time favourite has always been Dr. Wolfe from Last Exit to Springfield.

Mine has to be Lyle Lanley, I just love the design of that character, the fact that he seems such a happy, sympathetic fellow and he's really a manipulative liar.

One of the biggest criticisms I can make of the last 5 years or so is the complete lack of memorable one time characters. Some of my all time favorites:

Capitol City Goofball (though he has been seen in the backgrounds of other eps)
Scorpio
Karl
The Australian boy
The Shelbyville "Homer"
The archeaologist from the Angel ep.

Itchy
04-04-2006, 03:40 AM
Margie the squirrel from "Itchy, Scratchy and Marge" I think it would be fun to see her appear in more episodes rather than Poochie. I also liked Billy the kid zombie and Frank Grimes.

Not that I have a variety to choose from, given my shitty memory, but I quite liked MJ's Leon Kompowski.

The Australian boy
i saw that epsiode yesterday, and man did he seem like the aussie version of Ralph.

I agree, Tab Spangler is the only one that sticks out to me as being memorable & funny.

God, there's a few. I'm surprised no one's brought Rex Banner up yet... though, then again, he'd be absent from my list, too. Touche.

I agree with Hank Scorpio - a return in the movie would be both a) unexpected, and b) an extremely good move. Worthy of mention on my part, anywho, are Mr. Sparkle (For lucky best wash), Larry Burns, who gave birth to perhaps my all-time favourite Simpsons line ('Larry, you must meet the debutante, she came out last spring.' 'WHOA! Put her back in, she's not done yet!'), Molloy, and Sebastian Cobb (the guy who helped Marge find out the truth behind Lyle Langley and his monorails... I don't know why, particularly, he appeared so briefly, yet was so integral. Now that's a character, children.).

I would've put Leopold too, but he's talked (or rather intimidated schoolchildren) in two episodes (and appeared in the background of 'Homer the Great'), to my knowledge. Bring him back, he's a scream. A limited scream, but a hoot nonetheless. Any character whose repetoire consists of going apeshit for no valuable merit whatsoever is more gifted than Lindsey Naegle in my book. Then again, that quest was over before it began. Meeee-owww.

Yep. The only other exception, for me, would be Eric Idle's Declan Desmond, but he may not count since he's appeared twice now.

I don't even feel like I have to remind anyone but my pick would be Karl from Simpson and Delilah.

I vote for Frank Grimes. He's a great character, because he's much different than the other characters in the show. His apearence was something new and weird - just because there are only a few inteligent persons in Springfield. Rest in piece,Grimey.

Other great one time characters:
Hank Scorpio
Roy
Chester Lampwick
Lary Burns
Number 1
Buck Mc Coy

Joel Duffman

Scorpio is awesome, I also love Brad Goodman. Both voiced by the incomparable Albert Brooks.

"We like Roy! We like Roy!"

Chester J. Lampwick from The Day the Violence Died was also a great on-time character.

"Paint my chicken coupe!"
"Make me!"

I really liked Mr bergstrom. I don't really know why, something about him i like. He is just a good guy. I would love to see a sequal to that episode. In it mr bergstrom turned evil

Oh, Gabbo too.

Didnt he also make a non-speaking appearance in a later episode? Arthur Crandall had a line though. Somebody also mentioned Allison Taylor. I beleve she spoke in "Lard Of The Dance" And correct me if im wrong, but im fairly sure that the voice of Larry Burns (Rodney Dangerfield) died, so i dont think he'd be coming back either.

Favourite one-timers are Jessica Lovejoy, Joey Jo Jo Junior Shabadoo and Scorpio. I for one would not like to see Bergstrom come back, ever. Not that i didnt like the character, but more because he came into Lisa's life and taught her a very special lesson about herself. Why cheapen one of he most emotional episodes of all time with a pointless reappearance?

And i honestly cant think of any half-decent one-timers appearing in at least.. christ.. seven or eight years.

There's a lot to choose from, but the Shelbyvillian "Homer" has a very special place in my heart. Partly for the voice, partly for the great lines ("ohh, you lousy- shake harder, boy", "there's a-doin's a-transpirin'" etc.), but mainly it's for trying to hide his obvious discomfort while eating a lemon. Other notables:

Hank Scorpio (I haven't seen that episode in ages)
John Waters' gay guy (ditto...can't remember the name)
James Woods

1. Allison Taylor: I really, really wish she became a regular. She kind of is...but she's now eternally a background character. I think she had so much potential to be a great best friend to Lisa, and maybe have a lot of chemistry with the rest of the kids being a neutral voice of reason (as opposed to Lisa who tends to be an opinionated voice of reason. :D) I admit her comedic potential is low but as an endearing character who could help the development of other characters, I thought she was great.
2. Scorpio: Its hard to deny the charm of a super villain with the mannerisms and mentality of the cool guy next door. I really hope this guy appears in the film in some way because I think he's a major source of unused potential for both character interaction with others, and comedy. XD
3. Larry Burns: Oh man its such a shame Dangerfield is gone now because this character was such a funny guy. He's basically an animated version of Rodney but considering he's Burns' son thats what makes it so funny. Maybe he's best kept a one time character but still, made an impression.
4. Laura Powers and her Mother: These two were funny! We've seen Mrs. Powers on other occasions, but I wish she and her daughter became semi regulars. Laura always struck me as awsome when I was a kid because she reminded me of a certain real person in so many different ways. But she was also like that awsome big sister every little kid dreams of and she had some potential for sarcastic wit. Mrs. Powers has good chemistry with Marge so that could of been nice. But even so their one appearance was great.
5. Jessica Lovejoy: Oh man she had soooooooo much potential to be Bart's arch nemesis. Her one appearance is great though. I don't like the character quite as much as many others seem to but I agree that as a series villainess...she's awsome.

I got some others on my mind but I have to remember their names (look them up in other words, lol. ) Like the Catburglar. He was awsome.

2. Scorpio: He still comes out in comics a lot.

3. Grimes: Yes, he's one of my favorite character, but too bad he died

4. Grimes Jr.: Too bad he got arrested

5. Banner: Great character. Why won't they put that dude more

Totally Mr. Sparkle and the talking, multicolored fountain toilet from the Japan episode. I am endlessly tickled by the brilliance of those observations (and I mean no disrespect whatsoever to Japan). Repeating them may cause them to lose some of their edge, but I'm willing to take that risk.

Oh yeah, and the cast members from "Ya-Hoo." Just to hear Hank Azaria do the names again would cause me to wet my pants in glee.

Love the Rex Banner Beer Baron, and Big Shirtless Ron. and innmate carbon Rod. And gil...oh wait. And Cookie....oh wait again.

I love the dude, Bob, from the used Rv sales lot in Call of the simpsons on Season 1. They should have used that guy a lot more. Or at least included some of his ad libs on the DVD. "I know that's my name up there. But I don't own the place. Long story, long story." + "Can you beleve this? It's a vehicle. Men built this."

Brad Goodman. "Troy this circle is you." Love it.
Zombie Shakespere. (THOH 2 i think...)
Talking Tractor in Wacking Day.
AMENDMENT TO BE! Yes it's the amendment to be.
Used car lot salesman in Mr Plow. "Put it in H!"
Antique can guy, in Marge on the lam. "My precious antique cans!"
The Egg in the classic stonecutter episode.
Lyle lanley.
Mayor Quimby's nephew.
The talking phone in The Who episode. "Are you stupider than a monkey?"
Yes scorpio rules as well.
Bret Hart.
Gentle Ben. "No ben, No!".
Parody of homer in the fox movie in the episode where he gets done for sexual harrasment. "Now I'm gonna grab me some...sweet!
Night Boat. "Incorrect. Look, a canal."

FORGOT THE episodes of these: the one where Homer puts on the tape, and the guy says "Hello mudder, hello fadder, Welcome back to, Camp Granada." Never did get that joke. But the guy sounded so funny!

The one where that guy asks marge "Will you come away with me?" and she says "Sure!"

The kid from the movie parody of the episode where skinner goes missing. "Where do you want it skinner? Not funny."

That's all i can remember at the moment. Oh yeah...and Bartman should come back some more as well. I can only remember him being in one episode. Three men and a comic book.
