View Full Version : How many movies?
If you could decide how many movies of The Simpsons would you like to see? I think it would be the best if they only had one movie that ended the series and would be about 2 hours long.
Wasn't it rumored about a year ago that it would be 3 movies?

I think there should probably just be one....make it really good, let that sort of be the quissential Simpsons, and then leave it at that (regardless of whether the show itself continues from there). The only tv show I'd really advocate having multiple movies would be Futurama, since I think that has more potential for story arcs and grandiose, cinematic plots. (I actually think that if they make those Futurama films, they should end each one with "To Be Continued...." cliffhangers, until the last one that is.) In the case of The Simpsons, I just think there's enough ways to get one film wrong without making more and increasing the odds of at least one falling flat on its face, and not to mention I just don't really see the need for "The Simpsons Trilogy".

Agreed, one (hopefully great) movie would be sufficient. But if they plan on releasing a few (didn't the cast sign on for up to three movies?), I'll keep an open mind.

I'd like just the one. I remember that thing about there being 3 as well.

Just one movie right now is fine by me...I don't think any more than one would work.

ADD A POLL! ADD A POLL!
One is enough for the moment, but i'd like to see another one in about 5 years. I disagree with HOMR on the ending the series bit. I want them to continue well into my adulthood, so me and my kids have something in common.

I'm not trying to skirt the question, but how ever many good ones they can make. If they make can one good movie then make one. If they can make another good movie, then make two. I just don't want to pay ten dollars to see a bad Simpsons movie.

I wouldn't mind seeing more than one movie, as we know it won't end the series now. They're almost guaranteed to make 2 because the first one will likely be a success. I hope they don't do anything too radical in the film, which affects the rest of the show's run on TV, though.

I would prefer none, but since that's not an option I will just say this: I'm there on opening day for any and all, no matter how bad they get. I'm a big fan, after all.

One movie would be prefered, but if they did three movies I wouldn't mind as long as they were good.

I can see this up coming movie being a success, and FOX doing a follow up. I don't care how many, as long as they're enjoyable.

without a doubt it will be successful (in terms of the box office) the first movie might make upwards of $200mil just for the shows popularity alone. i personally would like to see just one movie and like others have agreed, just make it real good. a nice full length 2 hour movie, doesnt have to be a particularly a special plot just make it enjoyable and ill be happy.

For right now, just one. I would have to wait and see how good the movie is before even thinking about more.
The 3 movie rumor started way back when in the 1990s when the cast signed a new contract. It was written that there was a potential for 3 movies. It was not written in stone.

Only one. I love the Simpsons as much as the rest of ya, but there is something grand and mystical I guess I'm trying to say(without being too corny) about a Simpsons Movie we have all been waiting and waiting to see. This has been an idea that has been thrown around for a long time, and when it finally hits theaters, and we're all there seeing it at the 12:00 showing, it will be magical(okay, now it's corny). That type of event just would lose it's appeal the second time. Yeah, I'm a Simpsons fan, and that's why I want something like this to be special.

I think it should be just one like X-Files and South Park. It shouldn't be like Star Trek.

seeing how long they've beaten the dead horse of the show, i wouldn't be surprised if they surpassed Friday the 13th.
I want them to continue well into my adulthood, so me and my kids have something in common.
what? you want it to last another 20 or so years? yeah, that'll be fresh and entertaining -- especially when half the cast is dead or has quit from sheer boredom.

I think it should be just one like X-Files and South Park. It shouldn't be like Star Trek. They're thinking about making asecond x-files movie. It was up on IMDb before, but they seem to have taken it down, so it may have been nixed.

I hear that. I remember watching Rugrats VII and thinking how stale it became.
But for the Simpsons, they should have to do as many movies as there are seasons to the show.
So at least 19 movies.

So at least 19 movies.
I'd be happy with one, as long as it is good.
But, I say they just do however many they can do without becoming contrived and boring. If it's one, then one. If it's 19, then hallelujah.

More than three is complete and utter overkill; personally, I think just one is the best way to go.
The box office numbers alone will guarantee three (or more) movies--there are 4 "Scary Movies" already. Sheesh...
Anyway, here's my predictions: The first three Simpson films will all tie together, the second and third movies will come out very close together like The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions. Part I will bring about a conflict that will split the populace (and even the family) over some shocking 'revaltion' in, or about Springfield. Part's II and III will be about Homer (and Erin Brokovich) trying to fix everything and bring the town back together.
This series of movies will have a lot of backstory (which there wouldn't be enough time to tell in the normal 22 minute show) and I'm betting we will have a lot of retconning of the secondary characters.

personally i think there should be a movie for every season. I think it would be good to some up everything in each season. Also this would guarantee the simpsons will be around for a long time yet.
but i am very happy their is even going to be 1!!!

Depends on how the first movie does. I definitely DON'T want the series to end with a movie. Maybe a longer episode, but not a theatrical film.
