Yeah, this is for all the non-lazy people that don't sit and watch this site all day. :snooty:
Name the sports you play/have played.
I used to play soccer when I was really young.
Now I participate in track and cross country.
Yesterday, we had our first track meet.
I got a 6-min mile and a 13-min two-mile.(Yes they were exactly at the minute)
Best 5K time: 20:05
My Persona Records: Mile–5:44.1
..........................2-Mile–12:38.4
What do you do? What are your stats?
kevin

i've run cross country and track for years

1600: 4:58.8
800: 2:02.1
400: 55.2
i played basketball all throughout elementary school even though i wasn't very good

I remember most of my stats for sports that I did. I ran a 5:21 mile in high school, but refused the track team (I was behind most of those guys in my time anyway). I did a 76 second 1/4 mile. Not terribly impressive, but pretty solid. No way I could do them again.
The last year where I competed in baseball (didn't play for the high school baseball team, even though I was a shoe-in to make the team) was as a 15 1/2 year old on the pony league teams. I never committed an error in my 3 years competing at that level (always a starter...something of a chone figgins though, i bounced from SS to CF to 1B). I batted .333 (19 for 57) for the season (they would actually post the league stats near the snack shack), which isn't THAT great at that level of play. 3 triples, 7 doubles, no homers (I'm a twig). I have no idea how many RBIs, but probably somewhere in the 12-15 range, since it's so easy to get runners on base at that age. I'll take pride in those accomplishments for a looooong time. probably because i've never done much in sports since.

played football for six seasons...offensive linemen get no statistics. interesting combination of T/TE (blocking) however. just the offensive system we had though.
no other sports, aside from the rec league stuff in grade school. once ran a 6:10 mile. i'm trying to get back there...

i played soccer in 5th and 6th grade. i only had a couple of goals though because we had this little black kid on our team that would score everything.
in 8th grade i was on the track team. i only ran about a 6 minute mile, but i mostly competed in the short, sprinting races. i also tried out for the basketball team and i should have made it. i had better talent than most people on that team but i was about 4 foot nothing.
i never played any organized sports in high school becuase i was in band and it took up most of my time. i probably could have made the basketball team because i actually got taller and still could play pretty well. but my friends and i still play at the rec occasionally. sometimes football on nice weekends.

I played soccer from 2nd-7th grade. I still like playing, but I don't anymore. Right now, I golf, meaning I'm still lazy, I just show it in more ways than being on here all day.

i played little league baseball 5th and 6th grade. i was the worst player on my team both years. my average was somewhere around .080 and i had maybe 5 hits each season. also led the teams in strikeouts by a wide margin. on the bright side, i moved from right field to second base/catcher in my second year. i also pitched really well the few times they let me. guys on the team called me "the sheriff," after former mariner closer norm charlton, when i pitched a 1-2-3 inning my first time out at the end of blowout win.
now i just play basketball and football once in a while at a nearby elementary school.
baseball and hockey
shitty at hockey, good at baseball

Started playing basketball at age 8, Played in a league for three years when I lived in Miami starting around age 10. My first year I was in the 3-5 grade division and won defensive player of the year leading the league in blocks and (non defensive stat but whatever) rebounds. At the time I was taller then most of the others playing. I started in the league all star game, there was 12 teams. In the middle school league I did good as well although by the time I moved to Orlando my third year playing in 7 grade I had just begun starting.
I play basketball every chance I get, I love the sport and consider myself pretty good at it. I also play football alot although not as often lately and recently have taken up boxing.

Because Im out of shape and am not conditioned enough, I tried out for freshman team my freshman year and the coach asked me what I was doing there before I even steped on the court, cause he assumes since im fat I suck. I forgot to mention I played in 8 grade on my Middle School team but never left the bench, I got in to a few squash games and finished the season with a 75% field goal percentage .. 3 of 4.

Golf - 7 handicap when playing regularly, probably 10-12 now.
Bowling - 196 league average.
Pool - Won a couple of local tournaments.
Weights - Was benching 1.5x my weight, not bad for a skinny guy.
Poker (It's on ESPN, it's a sport)
Also like tennis and skiing, but I suck at both.
Would have liked to play football in school, but I was horribly undersized, would have gotten killed out there a la Corey Haim in Lucas.

I play basketball maybe 3-4 times a week with my friends, played baseball for about 4 years, football for 3. I can catch pretty much anything that is thrown to me, mostly because I don't mind taking a dive or jumping over things to make the catch. Nothing gets past me. I can throw a football pretty fucking far, as well.
As for the freak sports, I'm badass at dart throwing.
As for sports along the lines of spelling bees, I kick ass at Boggle.

When I was little, I played basketball, baseball and soccer. I sucked at baseball, was ok at soccer and basketball. In high school I ran track, I was ok at hurdles, but my major problem was that I had tendonitis in my right knee for my final two years, and I still have a touch of it now. I probably should have run mid-distance, when I was in 10th grade I ran a 2:25 split in the 4X800, not great but pretty good considering that I have never trained for the event before.
:bang:
03-30-2006, 07:28 PM
kid: soccer, baseball
high school: baseball (JV x2) crosscountry (x4 letters) volleyball (x1 letter) we didn't have track, which sucks, cause i ruled at the mile and sucked at hills. ran sub 5 miles pretty consistantly in practice without training for it
college: beer pong, foosball
now: running, biking, occasional basketball. mostly to burn off beer

I played a handful of sports before, and the only ones I've enjoyed were golf, raquetball, baseball, and swimming, also bowling.
Bowling is the only one I've done recently.

Soccer and baseball are the only two sports that I have played on a team (as a kid. I'm not on a team anymore) and actually enjoyed myself. I also played basketball a few times, but I hated it (mostly because I suck at it).
I also swim, but not competitively.
And of course I play fooseball.

I play baseball and did play some basketball at the high school level. I love pick up games of basketball more than anything. I dominate the glass with long arms and enjoy shooting three pointers all day long.
Baseball has been the only sport in which you could ever call me good at though. I pitched legion and high school and was second on the team in strikeouts, and e.r.a. I can't hit worth shit though.

Played basketball, softball (don't play that at all anymore), and volleyball since elementary school. I play basketball occasionally, but nowadays the only sports I play are volleyball and soccer. I've as also bowled since I was about 8, but I rarely do now...getting too expensive for me to play more than 1 game just by myself.

I would like to use this thread to ask - why aren't Americans in to football (soccer)?
With all their resources, they could rule the world, yet there seems to be a stigma attached to playing it beyond a certain age, or if you are a male. Why? Do Americans only like sports they are good at because they are sore losers?
My 'handball' post earlier was a bit tongue in cheek...
