finger-rollaz. yeah it sucks but what can I do about it now. apparently me and spartan are to lock horns.

oh and go lakers. kareem has been working with bynum, brown, cook, and mihm.
pippen has been working with odom. if they cant improve under those guys then its a lost cause. kareem says bynum has the best work ethic of any rookie big man he has ever seen. kobe has been training since the playoffs from last season. if they get decent inside rebounding they could make the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed. if not then it will be another off-season of retooling players to compliment kobe.

clippers look good enough to actually make the playoffs after adding cassell, mobley and mccarty. gives them guys who can hit outside shots.

Homer Jay
10-28-2005, 03:32 PM
My guess is he will be traded during the season, I don't think any of the rumors were close to equal value

DAntae
10-28-2005, 04:00 PM
hate to say it but pierce's game has been on a slow decline the last two seasons. his defense was never stellar but its not a joke. not hitting as many big shots, and shot selection has become horrible. a change of scenery is needed...not sure what value they are expecting to get. the guy is not a franchise player.

Homer Jay
10-28-2005, 04:08 PM
You're right about him, and I've always thought that he was one of the most overrated players in the league. He is not a positive influence on the younger players and I think that he is a negative influence. But at the same time he is a top 25 player in the league and most of the offers are pennies on the dollar.

I like my lakers betwen a 6-9 spot in the west...in all honesty.

I dont think walker and williams will help the heats chemistry. shaq and wade will tend to that stuff. still think the pacers will have the best record in the league. expect the heat to win a series against them though, as long as shaq and wade are healthy.

spurs will win the west. dont expect a fast start, they are notorious for playing there best ball after the all star break. this is the deepest spurs team, and if they really wanted to challenge that bulls record of 72 wins they could.

the fact you list the suns at 13 is a fucking joke. no amare early on will hurt but they will still be a top 5 team out west. when he returns they just get that much stronger.

you got golden state too high. not enough rebounders on that team.

seattle is a little high as well.

as far as your east rankings...orlando is a top 8 team in the east this season.

wizards intrigue me. they can easily be better or worse...its such a fine line with that roster. butler is far more athletic than most tweener players. he can play the 2 or 3 effortlessly.

knicks are too high. larry brown is great but he will need at least two seasons to overhaul a little.

anyhow my east top 5 are
indiana
miami
detroit
cleveland (yeah I went there)
philly

west top 5 are
san antonio
phoenix
houston (expect them to be the team to really challenge the spurs)
denver (mello has cut back the baby fat and added muscle)
sacramento/clippers (not sure who to go with yet) clippers are for real this year

Curtis
10-30-2005, 12:44 PM
I have the Suns low because I think they had one of the worse offseasons of any NBA team of the past ten years. They gutted a great core of players and replaced them with role players at best. Pat Burke and Kurt Thomas do not fit a fast paced offensive attack. Steve Nash is 34 and I think he will have a somewhat large decline this year. I have the Heat first because although I think the Pacers will be great they play in the powerful central division while the Heat play the Hawks and Bobcats. Last year the Heat went 15-1 against Atlantic Division opponets. I like Golden State to break out similar to the suns last year but not that strong. Troy Murphy and Ike Diogu are excellent rebounders and Adonyl Foyle "sigh" can rebound as well.

kevin
10-30-2005, 02:26 PM
east:
indiana
miami
detroit
washington
chicago
cleveland
philadelphia
milwaukee

west:
san antonio
houston
phoenix
dallas
denver
golden state
la clippers
seattle

i see a shift of power from the west back to the east, and a few surprise teams make the playoffs (clips, warriors, bucks) i'll take the pacers over the spurs in the finals.

DAntae
10-30-2005, 06:02 PM
spurs are the team to beat for seasons to come.

the suns made those moves to bolster up defense and add even more varied scoring. richardson was a 3 pt shooter, he lacked any scoring from inside the line. these moves wont add to offenseive numbers much, but the suns should be a more sound defensive team.

HomertheGreat
10-31-2005, 09:01 AM
if everybody can stay together and stay out of trouble, this pacers team has the potential to top that 2000 team that went to the finals. tons of talent all over the place, with a pretty good mix of guys that have been there and guys that are new. the big thing now is that everybody stays healthy, which seems to be sort of a problem right now.

DAntae
10-31-2005, 12:49 PM
I expect the pacers to have the best regular season record in the league. come playoff time shaq will get what he wants if he and wade are healthy.

East

1. Pacers (C)
2. Heat (SE)
3. Nets (A)
4. Pistons
5. Cavs
6. Wiz
7. 76ers
8. Magic
9. Bulls
10. Knicks
11. Bucks
12. Celtics
13. Hawks
14. Raptors
15. Bobcats

The Pacers look good and, if healthy, should take the east. The Heat look better than last year, but I like the Pacers more because of Artest. The Pistons are still a championship team, but the two above teams are fierce competition. The Nets will take the weak Atlantic divison. The Cavs should have a great year with LeBron sparking MVP chants. I'm a Magic fan and if Hill plays at least 70 games, they could make that 7th or 8th seed. It depends on how far Dwight Howard has grown since last year.

West
1. Spurs (SW)
2. Nuggets (NW)
3. Kings (P)
4. Rockets
5. Mavs
6. Suns
7. Grizz
8. Lakers
9. Sonics
10. Wolves
11. Warriors
12. Clippers
13. Jazz
14. Blazers
15. Hornets

Spurs over Pacers in 6

Scoring Title - Kobe
Rebound Title - KG
Assist Title - Steve Nash
Rookie of the Year - Charlie Villanueva (Raptors)
Defensive Player of the Year - Artest
MVP - Tracy McGrady

If T-Mac stays healthy, and Bob Sura comes back into form, the Rockets look to be a serious threat in the West. The Spurs will win the division and conference, but the Rockets will be right behind them. I like the Nuggets a lot as well. The Suns would be right there, but it depends on much of an impact Amare has after the All-Star Break and how behind the Suns are in the West.

Just gonna say I think the Wolves are getting under-rated a bit. Very few have them even in the playoffs, but look at what they have now compared to 3 years ago, before Sam and Spree. They made it to the playoffs like 6-7 years in a row on KG and a bunch of trash.
Jaric is capable. Now that he's got a superstar to work with, as long as he stays healthy, how can he not have his best season yet? He'll certainly be better then Sam was.
Wally has improved his game, especially on the defensive end. Again, if he can stay healthy, I think he might squeeze his way back into the All-Star game.
Hassell is one of the best defenders in the game. Ok on offense.
Kandi, well. He sucks. But for some reason, so far he's been doing good this year. Aside from his foul trouble.

Then the bench brings Griffin who is a monster shot blocker and defender. McCants will be one of the best rookies this season. Anthony Carter is another good defender who's shown some good offense in the pre-season. I think he's got a good shot at backing up Jaric over Hudson (and I don't think any fans will complain). Plus with the new coach who's all about defense, we're setting up to be a pretty good defensive team.

I think they can get low to mid 50 wins and make it into the playoffs.

what we know is the
spurs
rockets
kings
mavericks
phoenix
denver
memphis
seattle
minnesota
both la teams

all have a shot at 50 wins. some are bound to fall short due to injuries and teams not meshing well.

:bang:
10-31-2005, 02:52 PM

blueguy
10-31-2005, 03:07 PM
Compare this season to 3 years ago.

05-06_______________02-03, 51-31
1.Jaric______________Hudson
2.Hassell____________Anthony Peeler
3.Wally_____________Wally
4.KG_______________KG
5.Kandi_____________Rasho
6.Griffin_____________Joe Smith
7.McCants__________Kendall Gill
8.Hudson/A.Carter____Rod Stickland

In every spot, it's been improved with the exception of the 5. KG's game has gotten better. Wally's game has gotten better. Sure some of the competition has gotten better as well, but I still feel that as long as they stay healthy, there's no reason they shouldn't get a 6-8 seed.

missed the draft... it would have been a race to get back from my 4:00 class in time anyway, but then i had to ask my prof a few questions after class. oh well, my team didn't turn out too badly.

DAntae
11-01-2005, 06:48 AM
from the draft I got some solid guys who fill up stat sheets with lots of numbers. ginobli, rashard lewis, hughes, odom. got some guys who can put up lots of points like richardson and cassell (on certain nights). got a rebound beast in chandler. joe johnson is a pretty good number guy as well.

made a couple of drops and add ons...dropped okur because dude is way out of shape. added kaman in his place. kaman could easily get 15-18 pts a night if his feet hold up. dumped haslem. not because I dont like his production, but he doesnt add much to the scoring column. in his place I added eddie griffin. guy has had a strong pre-season and if he stays helthy should also drop 16-20 to compliment kg when they go to the big lineup.

blueguy
11-01-2005, 10:00 AM
Wouldn't put much faith in Griff putting up points like that on a regular basis unless KG or Kandi gets hurt. Part of the reason he had a good pre-season was because KG was out for half of the games.

kevin
11-01-2005, 03:12 PM
i'm expecting big breakout seasons from howard and gordon to help my team out more. starting luke ridnour at pg in hopes that he builds on last year and becomes a consistent assist contributor.

DAntae
11-01-2005, 04:32 PM
blueguy "kandi-man" is always in foul trouble and hurt. griffin barring injury should get the minutes. playing off of kg can only get him easy looks. not a bad shooter for a bigger guy as well. well thats what I am banking on. still think its going to work out better than haslem. too much depth on the front line for the heat is surely going to cut his time down.

well expect to see a decent team pretty quickly. they can make a run at a playoff spot. they will play defense because of larry brown. it all depends on how quick those guys let themselves be coached. they got a lot of guys who have refused to change before. however I will join you in bashing the nets and many other teams through the course of the season. with isiah at the helm you never know who might come and go before the trade deadline.

Foul Trouble, yes. Hurt? He was out twice that I can recall, once for each knee, granted quite a long time. Going off my crappy memory, I don't think he had any health issues last year unless you want to count him getting tazzed twice by cops and getting benched for a while.

For this year, I think he'll still have problems with fouls, but not as bad. Seems the new coach has sparked some interest out of the guy who normally doesn't seem to care. But who knows, maybe that'll wear off after a week and he'll be right back to apathetic Kandi of ol. In any case, Griff is a good player who seems to be heading the right direction after an unfortunate start to his career. Just hope to see him work on his inside game some more.

and god damnit. I see I haven't lost the talent of seeming to always get the first post of a page.

I'll be cheering for the Spurs... In fact, I've been liking the Spurs since BEFORE there was a bandwagon for everyone to jump on.

Also, being very near Milwaukee, I need to say that the Bucks should make some big improvements this year. Just look at the off-season:
1.) Redd resigned for $90 million
2.) New coach (former asst. coach Stotts)
3.) TJ Ford is back from spine surgery
4.) #1 Draft Pick (Bogut)
5.) 2004-05 Most Improved player (Simmons)
6.) Traded for Jamaal Maglore

Don't sleep on this team. They shouldn't be below #9 on ANY Eastern Conference list.

It will be interesting to see if the Hornets can continue to play as well as last night. I rather doubt it, but I expect they will have a better fan base in Oklahoma than they did in N.O. It would be cool if they could sneak into the playoffs this year based on nothing but some weird home-court advantage thing. And Desmond Mason, who will have his best year as a Hornet this year in front of the same fans who loved him in college.

kobe wins it in overtime. I almost fell asleep at the end of the 3rd qrtr. decided to make myself stay up. glad I did. it wasn't anything more than a road win, but it felt good. defense was great on anthony. he did make a lot of bad shot selection choices as well. bynum did a decent job in his minutes ont he court. he didnt break down on defense which is where he will make a impact if any this season.

parker was a nice compliment. odom didn't do well trying to play post defense on martin. kobe had turnovers but half were offensive fouls. two were mishandled passes. he looked pretty under control and patient. not sure how long that will last.

- Which means that this will be the best year that he has as a Hornet no matter how many years he plays with them. As a Sonics fan I'm quite familiar with his career and wish he was still in Seattle. Thanks, Roarke.

hugh, kwame wasn't dominant but solid. 7 pts, 6 rebounds. only took 6 shots. 3 of his six shots came off offensive rebounds...that itself was a good sign. he looks happy. odom had a decent game with 9 rebounds and 7 assits...only 8 pts though.

also cassell is starting on my fantasy team woohoo.

blueguy
11-03-2005, 10:14 AM
Should be interesting to see what Cassell pulls off the rest of the season. Despite the BS that happened here, I still love the guy as a player. What he does in the 4th quarter of games is incredible. Should be interesting to see if Jaric/Hassell will be enough to contain him when we play the Clips, because you KNOW Cassell is going to want to put on a show.
I suspect he might have some incredible games for a little while, but will lose interest soon and really only show up in the 4th.

well the good part is he wont have to carry the scoring load or even be the second or third option. clippers have got lots of guys who can score buckets. its for those clutch moments when a guy needs to create a shot, or hit the big one. thats what he has always done.

Pronounced blunt. no seriously he's now called Blunt. It's apparently his ghetto name.

Not to mention the Knicks allowed 20 points in a 5 minute OT.

Celtics will be about the same as last year. Couple over/under. One thing is for certain though: they are entertaining as hell. If all goes well we should be great in 2 years or so.

lakers can score...however no one in the frontcourt played defense last night. brown, odom, mihm, and others looked ridiculous. kobe, odom and parker had good night on offense. screen and roll killed them all night. of course nash runs it about as well as anyone ever has. sexy win for the pacers last night. i really like our depth. carlisle has the option of playing 9, maybe 10 guys a night, not even including bender if he ever gets healthy. i know it's really early, but if they keep playing on the level they're playing now, they're going to be tough to beat.

DAntae
11-10-2005, 08:45 AM
wolves bench beat the lakers last night. starters for the wolves were thoroughly outplayed.

blueguy
11-10-2005, 10:25 AM
Jaric played nearly half the time that Smush played and he had comparable stats for the game. Outplayed? Obviously Kobe can't be stopped and will have the best numbers at the end, but where was he in the 4th when they needed him? Kwame had a decent game, but I'd hardly consider that outplaying KG.

Dwayne Casey has really been pushing for strong defense, and it's working. Everyone in our lineup has decent defense, with the possible exception of Hudson. Not counting the 10 minutes in overtime in the back to back losses, the Wolves are #1 for points allowed.

Sure it's early, but I still think are under-rating the Wolves capabilities.

DAntae
11-10-2005, 12:19 PM
look at the bench production for both teams. that answers all. not doubting the wolves defense or potential, just stating what went down last night.

blueguy
11-10-2005, 12:56 PM

for now at least. Wally will get cold again eventually. Maybe not like he has been though. Gotta say though, as optomistic as I was about the team, I've been impressed with Hudson playing a little better and not being so out of control. Dork will still take every single last shot of the quarter if he's on the floor. Even the announcers joke about it. 24 seconds left, we got the ball, he'll hold it and they'll say, "last shot time for Hudson."

Anyway, I'll just be satisified with actually being able to sit and watch a game this season.

SCOTTIE

certainly one of the most underrated of all time

the best front line man to man defender I ever saw. could lock down anyone. he needed mike more than mike needed him...but not by much.

Well when I visited ESPN at 10 am I was quite shocked to see Stan Van Gundy resigned, BUT I am excited because Pat Riley is one of the greatest coaches of all time and he will put this team in the right direction. I am confident they will reach the NBA Finals with Riley as coach.

DAntae
12-12-2005, 01:25 PM
no way miami can match up with detroit top to bottom. shaq trumps any front line player for the pistons and thats it. wade will put up points, but pistons are playing the best team ball of anyone in the east. riley was hoping for this oppurtunity all off season. guy knows the game, but heats additions haven't look good so far.

the raptors beat chrlotte the other night...............that puts them up to "not as terrible as they were in 96". But you never know.

.........sigh being a toronto sports fan is an excercise in futility.

DAntae
12-12-2005, 01:35 PM
just be excited about bosh and villanueva.

rickey
12-12-2005, 01:42 PM
yea..........theres them.....

but i would rather see a bigger number under the win column you know.....

it's like playing the slots and even though you know you will never hit the jackpot, you just keep on hoping......hope that is completely useless and full of crap.

a day in the life of a raptors fan.

btw mcgrady played awesome last night for the rockets.

DAntae
12-12-2005, 02:02 PM
raptors have had some good players, problem is its hard to attract people to play there. its basicly a no win situation on that particular issue. if you can't attract talent to replace talent that always leaves after the contract is up...well your not going to have success.

Cole
12-12-2005, 02:03 PM
artest is a jackass. roarke, please tell me that you're not still defending this douche.

riley started all of this with his dumb offseason comments and moves. this only added to the pressure on van gundy.

kevin
12-12-2005, 02:44 PM
bulls finally bench chandler. it's about time. he needs to earn his playing time. 5 points per game is ridiculous, even for him.

DAntae
12-12-2005, 03:04 PM
yeah the odd thing was the heat didn;t have to make any moves or additions. for them it is about staying healthy. not taking anything away from detroit, but if wade and shaq were both healthy in the eastern finals last season, personally I think it would have gone the other way. this year however detroit looks like an improved team. still playing the great defense, but the offense has been awesome. great passing and balance.

artest to cleveland ahahaha. not gonna happen. isiah is dumb enough to make a move for the guy. ship marbury for artest. pacers get their point guard and knicks get dumber than a mug. do it isiah, do it.

also I did to rub it in mcstinks face...lakers bitch, lakers.

kevin
12-12-2005, 03:07 PM
i have to say, phil has done a job with those lakers just inbetween the two times we played. the team will be very good if they continue to give kobe solid support like they did against the bulls.

and you can't really brag because we beat you in la. so there.

Roarke
12-12-2005, 03:12 PM
i'm not defending him, but man is he a great player. i will be very sad to see him go becaues i don't know if we can go the distaince in the playoffs without him(esp. if we get peja out of it)

DAntae
12-12-2005, 03:25 PM
yeah I know, but...shut up.

artest is a talent, but too many of these headcase athletes. I think he really wants to be a winner. he is in a good situation, just don't know what to make of it.

Cole

bah, i still think the pacers would be better off with a playoff bust like peja than a superior player like artest who is a malcontent.

lakers are starting to play pretty good team ball. kobe bailed them out last night with a couple of incredible shots. road trip is going oh so well.

DAntae
12-15-2005, 09:37 AM
5-1 road trip. they gave that one loss away, so I am thrilled with the progress. they are passing better, cutting out the turnovers and are hitting the boards hard. calling kwame a sissy was indeed awesome by phil.

this was the best road trip since 2000 when they went 6-0. of course that is the end of the comparison. bynum did score a hoop last night. he needs more minutes but mihm has done such a solid job its hard to justify not giving him his minutes.

Spartan
12-15-2005, 12:19 PM
some dominating lakers defense last night. held the tempo all night and stretched the lead coming out of the half.

kevin
12-15-2005, 03:18 PM
bulls beat the raptors. i know they suck...blahblahblah

11-10. not bad. the solid play is becoming more consistent. different role guys step up every night. you might not know who it will be, but it will be someone

DAntae
12-16-2005, 07:47 AM
whats the word on chandler and his breathing problems?

spartan that win impressed me the most. grizz still have a deep rotation and usually win the battle on the boards. if phil can get these guys to stay hungry on the defensive end then that will lead to many easy baskets. parker, odom and kobe all excel on the break.

Despite losing 3 in a row for the Wolves, I'm still pleased with how they're playing. 7 of their 9 loses this season have been lost by either a single shot or gone into overtime. The last 2 loses were by less then 11 points. You can't win em all, but when the loses you do get are very close and competitive, it's hard to be disappointed.

box elder
12-16-2005, 11:01 AM
well, the wizards are playing like crap, but i really think there's a good team in there somewhere. i mean, we beat the pistons and we beat the hell out of the spurs and they're probably the best two teams in the league. it's just so annoying when we keep doing shit like blowing a 14 point 4th quarter lead at home to the likes of the bulls.

Andy

dan, i don't know what's wrong with chandler, but at this point i really don't care. sweetney is where its at

DAntae
12-16-2005, 04:00 PM
damn your cold as ice. I was showing some genuine interest in his health. I swayre he is the hardest worker on that roster. guy just needs to eat about 10 meals a day.

kevin
12-16-2005, 04:03 PM
he needs an offensive game; i don't care how good his defense is, 5 points a game won't cut it for a starter. he also needs to bulk up and add some weight, which something he should have done a long time ago. he works hard, yes, but i'm just sick of seeing potential from this guy. i want to see legit results. i like him coming off the bench, though. we really need antonio davis back, or some other veteran big guy

DAntae
12-16-2005, 04:57 PM
this mean strike is enjoyable to see form you. he is still a kid based on league standards. he will never be a beast scoring on the blocks, don't think its naturally part of his game. some big guys are meant to be defensive stoppers and rebounders. he does need to add much weight. if sweetney could give 30 pounds to him...then you'd be set.

HomertheGreat
12-16-2005, 09:25 PM
i know i'm late with the artest thing but i need to blow off some steam from the last few days. it's just simply a cold slap in the face to a team, organization, and whole fuckin city that's supported and protected ron through all the flagrant fouls, little suspensions, and of course the brawl. not only did he ruin reggie's last season, but now he's tryin to ruin another one.

so fuck you ron, i hope we can get harrington back and you can go play in Atlanta. you'll lose by 15 every night, but hey, at least you'll be getting your shots.

kevin
12-16-2005, 10:06 PM

Went to the phoenix game tonight, already my fourth of the year. anyways, antonio burks is really coming on strong in his soph year outta memphis.

suns really dominated the boards and was strong on the perimeter, but memphis just pounded inside all night. really impressive. also the first game in the 40-45 I've seen in memphis' 5th season where I could honestly say the officiating was correct the entire game. better now than never, I guess...

ok, sure

DAntae

what shouldn't is the lakers losing to the rockets without any post presence for houston. ming was out. the fact the game was so low scoring is very surprising. eh.

huh?
12-22-2005, 04:39 PM
the funniest part is the fact that no one else on the team reached double digits that night.

DAntae
12-22-2005, 05:13 PM
yeah, but then again it wasn't needed. when a guy has a night like that...well it just doesn't matter what others do. he also got a sick amount of free throw attempts.

So, you like Lakers basketball, UNC college hoops, Redskins football....

...is there a rhyme or reason behind this craziness?

dad's family is from nc. it was born with me. love my heels.

lakers comes from my uncle who was stationed outside san diego. everyone in cali loved showtime. I was a kid and he sent me tons of radio broadcasts. when I caught them play I was just awed by their play. its a love that has never died.

skins there is no real reason. always rooted for them. just always liked them.

heh, if only the pistons could have played like that against the spurs throughout the finals last year. tremendous effort today... i have no idea how anybody is going to be able to beat them regularly

DAntae
12-26-2005, 06:44 AM
they did look dominant on both ends. ben did his usual domination of the boards.

lakers had a chance to win, big shot by the heat put them ahead. glad to see the effort given. not happy with the loss though.

Spartan

the only thing more satisfying then the glorious NBA officiating krew not reprimanding kobe for that flagrant foul on miller was the fact that the grizz were the first team in nba history to win a game on the road after never having possession of the lead in regulation.
