View Full Version : Scrubs Season 5 Thread
I can't be the only one who loves this show and is looking forward to the fifth season, so I thought I'd post this thread since the description of the first new episode came out yesterday.
10/26 - Episode 5.01 - My Interns Eyes: Turk and Carla are trying to have a baby but Turk is secretly giving Carla birth control pills. J.D. starts his first day as an attending at Sacred Heart dealing with interns of his own, while Elliot struggles to find her way around County. Source: SpoilerFix.com
Also I thought, come January, it would be a good opportunity to discuss the new episodes.
Finally a scrubs thread! Im still waiting for our network to finish showing season 4!

I've only just started watching, awesome show. Seen seasons 1 and 2. Are 3 and 4 just as good?
I think the third season declined in quality, and the fourth season did the same, unfortunately. Nevertheless, it was still highly entertaining, but it just lacked something that the first two seasons had.

What season was the episode on Tuesday? It was the one where the janitor became a security guard. I could look it up but I'm a lazy bastard.
It was 319 - My Choosiest Choice Of All (Season 3)
Next up is "My Fault" airing, ... who knows when
Elliot asks Sean to move in with her, which only adds to JD's problems.
Turk is unsure why Dr. Miller's attitude towards him has changed, until he finds out Carla un-invited her from their wedding.
Kelso outrages Dr. Cox when he announces that Sacred Heart will begin doing full body scans, starting with an ever present hypocondriac patient who wants any freebies he can get.
Information for episode 5.02:
My Rite of Passage: Jordan is working at the hospital and everyone seems to be avoiding her. J.D. is out to prove to Dr. Cox and Dr. Kelso that he doesn't have to treat his interns like crap. Carla and Elliot also appear.
Also, SpoilerFix is reporting that the season premiere won't air until winter 2006. :(
Bump. If anybody's interested, the new episodes have been announced to start airing January 3rd next year, with double episodes throughout the month. Information on the first seven can be found here (http://spoilerfix.com/scrubs.php).
Awesome... thanx 4 the link paul.

I never really watched this show before, but I'm gonna try to watch this season I think. All the episodes I did see were pretty funny

Sorry son but im afraid you didnt read my post. I posted that in OCTOBER before they started the fourth season, plus here in canberra we don't get season 3 at 11-12 weekdays because Prime (Seven in canberra) has a different lineup. We have home shopping at 9.30am, followed by the news, always greener at 11am, then alias and the practise from 12

two new episodes tonight 8-)
Downloaded the 2 new episodes, they were both pretty good, the second better than the first. It's looking to be a good season.

First ep was decent (B), second was terrific (A-)
Favorite line:
Dr. Cox: "I'm giving you one 'Man' card back because of that display back there."
JD: "Can I give you a hug?"
Dr. Cox: "You held onto it as long as you could, didn't you?"
Wow I can't believe how this show sustains it's quality. I'm not being sarcastic. I loved both episodes. I think change is what keeps the show running.

The first time I saw capecoddah's sig, I laughed for about 5 minutes straight. This show is so brilliant.
Having the main character be a lackey is always a hit.

that laugh is infectious
Pretty good new episodes, although the first two this season were better. I much prefered "My Day at the Races" to "My Jiggly Ball". The latter felt a little week with only a few good jokes, albeit with poor deliveries. Janitor continues to produce the laughs, but, as much as I hate to admit it, he is becoming a little tiresome. His sign prank was hilarious, though.
"My Day at the Races" - 4/5
"My Jiggly Ball" - 3.5/5

Just wondering, are they airing so many scrubs episodes to get it out of the way and end it or is it rating well?

The 2nd episode always seems better. I don't know why.
The janitors niceness had me fooled for a second but I knew he had something up his sleeve.

Dare I say it, it's now tired............one of my all time favorite shows, but it started losing its humorous edge last season......this season, it's not all that funny (Season Four was still pretty laugh filled) and I don't even really care what happens to the characters......there's still a lot more episodes to go, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but I'm worried.

It was held off the fall schedule in order to not have as much pressure on it to perform. So far, the ratings seem stronger than the Will and Grace/Three Kings block on Thursdays, so I don't fear for it being canceled.
Surprisingly I thought both of the new episodes were great despite a few minor flaws, particulary My Way Home; the Wizard of Oz homage was excellent. My Big Bird wasn't as good but I liked the flashback elements and the ending, and the characters' lottery fantasies. The guest appearance from Jason Bateman was also good, it was strange seeing him play such a different character from Michael Bluth.
My Way Home - 5/5
My Big Bird - 4.5/5

Both episodes were really good. The second episode kind of reminded me of a Trilogy of Error in the begining. The only problem is I wish there was more Bateman :(

Last night's 'sodes were kinda funny.
Second episode was better than the first but both were great. Loved Turk calling Billy Dee "Lando".

Her Story was one of the best ep's ever.
Aussies, all new Scrubs returns to Seven on Thursday February 23rd at 11:30pm, after American Dad! and Family Guy.
Downloaded the first new episode, "My Buddy's Booty", thought it was absolute shit. Dr. Cox seemed really out of character, the acting was below average and it just wasn't funny. So far this season has been the worst. Thoughts on the second episode coming later.
The second was a lot better. But the cutaways are too family guy esque now. Very random and unfunny. The janitors bird Sanchez was funny though and it's a two parter so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

The latest episode which focussed on the janitor was great. I enjoy those his/her story episode and the fact that j.d was trapped in he water tower the entire episode had me in tears as did the Turk isn't black sub plot. Why doesn't anyone post in this thread anymore?
Maybe because season five sucks.
I was deluded to believe that the episodes were good when posting my reviews.

Sorry to drag a bit off-topic a but can I just ask what the general attitudes are towards Scrubs post-season 3. I've heard quite a lot of negativity, but I'd like to hear some actual opinions on why it's so bad (if that's what you think) as I've only seen all of season 1 and 2 and don't know whether or not to get the season 3 DVD (I'm not sure if season 3 was shown in the UK, if it was, I missed it. So I didn't bother watching season 4).

I really liked the janitor episode too. It was one of the best in a while. I won't bother to comment on the post season 3 thing, I only really started watching this season and haven't seen many old episodes
Season 3 is very good (although not as great as the first two), despite the lacklustre last few episodes. Season 4 dips in quality but it is still fairly entertaining. Season 5 was just terrible and I've given up on the show.

My Way Home is so far the best of the season and probaly a top 5 overall.
J.D.: Are you aware of any underground tunnels around here? I think I saw a manitee.
Janitor: Was his name Julian?
J.D.: I don't know we didn't share pleasantries.
Janitor: Thats Julian.
I also liked what i think were a couple of clerks references. "But, I'm not even supposed to be here today.

I only somewhat agree with Paul. Season 1,2 and 3 are the best seasons, season 4 is still hilarious but just a little less funny definetly still worth watching and season 5 has some awful episodes and the characters try too hard and the cutaways are unfunny but there are still a few enjoyable episodes to look out for. Anyway I heard it's suprisingly rating well because of the dial up on it's wackyness and theres probably a season 6 on the way. I think the latest episode was of season 4 quality. Which is great.

I loved tonight's episode, the ending was powerful. The Todd subplot was funny, but a little disappointing in how they handled his "outing."
Now that AD is off the air, Scrubs is the best sitcom on tv. I've really been impressed by this season, it's easily the best since season one.

Last night's ep was a little odd. I thought the comedy was weak for once, but the emotional stuff was incredible. It's usually the other way around. This ep really blew me away.
I just watched "My Lunch". A very good episode that felt like it was in the first or second season. Up there with the other emotional episodes, "My Old Lady", "My Philosophy" and "My Screwup". This season has been very disappointing but hopefully it'll return to top form sometime soon.

I hate that I dont catch this show more often... everytime I do it's always funny and sometimes they drop some serious shit too... gonna have to make more of an effort... might pickup past seasons on dvd too if they're out.
Yeah it was brilliant. The show has actuallu caught fire this season, the Dr Cox plot was originally gonna unfold over the entire season as his descent into alcoholism but now since a season 6 is probably on the way it won't be a major plot.
I read somewhere that Carlas not going to be the only one pregnant this season as well. Also theres a description on tv.com of an episode to air which contains a cast member taking a pregnancy test.
just saw "My Cabbage".. that was a really awesome episode. The pumpkin part was brilliant.
I missed some episodes from season five so I thought I'd download them. Last one I watched was the one where Turk found out Carla's pregnant - awful, awful, awful. What happened to this show? Maybe it's because I'm watching these episodes alongside the magnificent season one, but something has gone wrong.

"My Lunch" has to be in the top 5 best episodes of the show overall. Very well written plot, and that ending was just perfect.
I think Scrubs season 5 is better than season1. The first season seemed a little to "cartoony" for me, they overused the sound effects.
While it was a little more intresting to watch struggling interns than financially stable doctors, that's just the way it is. My favorite episode was in season 5 (His Story III).
i havent really got a favourite. when i have time i want to rewatch the first 3 seasons on DVD before S4 comes out in september.
