So, Season Four has been cut from 13 to 10 episodes. Don't panic, because this is not something Arrested Development-esque, since the three episodes have been donated to the DVD movie coming out this fall. So, now FOX presents a three ep jump in production to Petarded! Episode synopsis:

Peter wins a game of Trivial Pursuit, and after winning starts to believe that he is a genius. So Brian has Peter take an IQ Test to prove it.

Will it be Blind Ambition all over again, or an actual, in-focus episode like last week? We'll find out tonight at 9 PM on Family Guy!...

A pretty good episode, a little slow at the begginning but it picked up nicely at the end. I loved the joke about Brian and the Snowman but I didn't like Peter at the casino, it seemed a bit lame to me. I'm glad to see Joe back on the job again. Overall a 4/5.

Great Episode, it had a great plot and some great jokes, i loved the high five and peter laughing, firetruck gags, stewie trying to tell the joke about the black people, stewies ipod commercial. I was a little worried with this season when it first started but the last two episodes have been great.

I really liked tonight's epsiode, althgough I was alittle surprised that they decided to keep Peter retarded rather than sday there was some sort of test error. It won't affect future epsiodes, but still.....93%

P.S.: Now, I heard Fox had ordered 35 episodes originally. Will there be 22 epsiode season in the fall as well?

Had some great bits, like the firetruck, but it also had some jokes that fell flat. Overall a good episode though.

Reminded me of the first season's episodes -- a very weak plot, lots of cutaways that collectively take up almost as much time as the story, ending with an attempted parody of bad sitcom "heartfelt" speeches and back-to-normal endings. I don't mean that as a compliment, really, because I think this show is stronger when it has an actual story. And the cutaways were mostly quite unfunny and too damn long.

I wanted this show to get better -- I really thought, in the third season, that it was getting better -- but I think it's time for me to give up on it (which will mean I'll stop posting about it and crapping on FG threads, and so everybody's happy).

I thought he was related to Pac-Man somehow the first time I saw him. That also makes me think Pac-Man's on some sort of substance too, chasing ghosts in a dark room with repetitive music playing. :shifty:

Anyways, that was alot better than last week. The only complaint was the ending, but nothing bad about it. Unlike Blind Ambition, it managed to be funny and memorable, and was focused. The best thing was Stewie's iPod commercial. Can someone get me a gif of that? I also like how Loretta was missing, with no mention of the last episode at all.

Fast Times: 4.5/5
Blind Amibiton: 3/5

I wasn't even really paying attention to the plot. You don't really watch this show for the plot, y'know. The firetruck gag at the end was excellent, and Stewie's ipod commercial was unexpected and hilarious (i need to find that and download it, stat). Just like Peter's "Rock Lobster" rendition in the Quagmire episode.

Exactly what I wanted to say. Except, I think the show was at its best in Season Two. Regardless, for whatever reason, I really can't tolerate this show. I don't know if the show has declined, my sense of humor has changed, or if I'm just nuts ... either way, I couldn't even finish this episode. So, I'll stop posting about my disappointments as well.

*salutes*

Pretty good, very classic-like. The Timer thing (I didn't know what his name was until this thread and a Google to confirm it) was hilarious, considering how much I enjoyed all those ABC bits as well. Now I just need someone to tell me that I can exercise my choppers with some good, hard, food.

I... didn't care for the Stewie iPod commercial thing. It didn't fit, didn't really make any sense to me, and it just seems that I'll be seeing a bunch of idiots putting it in their MySpace profiles next to their embedded Mariah Carey videos, just because, hey, it's Stewie and it's funney lol.

The firetruck thing was awesome.

So yeah, overall decent, I still wish I could have seen last week's since it apparently was the best of the season based on the reviews I read. I still have hope in this show, Cole... they just need Wood and Prior back.

Meh. 3/5 episode. Nothing stood out really. The firetruck joke at the start was the only memorable bit I can think of at the moment. Stewie's iPod commercial... I was waiting for the punchline. I don't see what's funny about it. I was waiting for Stewie's shadow to do something funny, or for a funny song choice. But the joke really was just a "hey it's funny because you recognize it" joke, which has been my problem lately with the show. Plus, the jokes are getting more and more obscure I find, like the hunk o'cheese mascot, and the guy from the opening scene of Robocop ( :boggled: ).

Family Guy seems to be losing its edge. It's been downhill since the season premiere.

another episode in the 3/5 range. Seems like they're relying too much on the cutaways as "go to" gags, as if to excuse themselves for having average storylines otherwise...I know the cutaways have been a FG trademark since the beginning, but for some reason they just feel too "prioritized" in the new episodes...

Peter becomes a CERTIFIED retard. I liked the part where Meg and her friends were having a sleepover, and Quagmire creeps from behind the couch. You'd think he learned from the time he almost raped Lois. Too many funny moments here.

ok, explaining the stewie's commercial joke would be a little shallow and pedantic but basically it was funny because a) he's a baby, b) he chose a ridiculously campy song popular about 15 years before he was born, c) the song is sung from Patty Smyth's perspective as a woman (cross-gender riffs on Stewie are frequent and usually well-executed and hilarious), d) seeing babies dance is always funny, e) seeing stewie's matricidal misanthrope genius side mixed up with his love for kitschy fey pop goodness is standard humor on this show, e) at least an ipod commercial joke is timely. Sure, something like that will seem dated very quickly, but that's just part of it's ephemeral charm. Comparing this to the RV simpsons episode i also saw last night, that last point is important. Homer's "Ask Jeeves" reference was stupid. Dated.

What the hell is wrong with you? Quagmire never planned to rape Lois. He was just spying on her in the bathroom.

Gets a 5/5 for me. I liked the plot, as it was definatly more grounded than a few of the others this season. There were many hilarious spots, although I'd agree they went with 1 or 2 unnecessary cut-aways. Still, this is more of the type of episode I'd like to see every week.

Blind Amibiton: 3.5/5

You give FG writers far more credit than I do. I don't read into the joke that much at all. I think it is simply an attempt at getting a laugh based recognizing the commercial. This is not uncommon for Family Guy at all, so I don't know why this joke would require an in-depth analysis anymore than, say, the "You can't do that on television" joke or the "you've just been kicked in the nuts" one. All stupid and random.

"I just smoked a lot of crack"

overall, I thought it was just an average episode. some of the cutaway gags went on too long, especially stewie at the cocktail party. I got a decent laugh out of the dan rather gag however, though it's outdated now but oh well. ipod commercial was okay, fire truck gags were awesome. some jokes fell flat, and overall it was kinda boring. probably the worst of the season, pretty much the only episode I've found to be lacking a lot. 2/5

how was that even remotely dated? ask jeeves still exists and is used now, and homer wrote that message at some unspecified time in the past, possibly when it was used even more frequently. but anyways, agreed with arlen and cole, and this will probably be my last post in these threads.

There were some good jokes in this episode, especially when Quagmire was hiding behind the couch a Meg's slumber party. Other than that this episode had alot of jokes that fell flat, especially the fire truck gag. Also maybe its because I'm too young to remember but I did not get the hunk o' chese reference at all. Overall this episode gets a 3/5, or C+

Well, ask yourself: when was the last time I asked jeeves anything? After repeatedly asking Jeeves if he was gay about three years or so ago, and not getting a satisfactory answer, I gave up on the whole concept. Homer "googling" his name also seemed like a topical reference that fell slightly short.
I admit it though; I have much lower standards for Family Guy. It's supposed to be stupid, so when it is, it lives up to my expectations.

He'll be the same as he has all throughout the show's run.

I don't know why people think that him knowing he's mentally retarded will effect future episodes, because then it would just be using the same joke from one episode.

I Must Say. This Episode is Down Right Hilarious and I'm surprised that after 6 years or so they haven't thought of this before. Just Like Homer The Smithers, it looked like it could have been a season 2/3 episode. The Song "He's Retarded" is soooooo catchy I cant get it out of my head, if anyone can find the MP3 for it PM me. The fire truck scene was great. It looked like a nature show. And I could not believe that Seth MacFarlane did the voice of the narrator. Let alone doing: Peter, Stewie, Brian, Quagmire & Tom Tucker. He is Very Talented indeed.
