Francine thinks Stan's safety practices have isolated her from the rest of the neighborhood and prevented them from making new friends. In an effort to remedy the situation, Francine decides to throw a block party. But when Stan meets some new neighbors he doesn't trust, all hell breaks lose. Meanwhile, Stan persuades Steve to join a youth group, which ends up causing him more harm than good.
Another great episode. It's definitely up there with "Francine's Flashback".

I'm beginning to think that the ridiculous plots, and characterization of Stan is why I like this show. Another great episode, 92%

It wasn't a bad episode, American Dad certainly is good as Family Guy, but at least the show has improved a lot since the pilot episode. Although I don't understand how that whole five minute segment with the two electrical workers finding a gold turd left by Roger has anything to do with the rest of the episode, but I guess will find out next week. Overall a fairly good episode but could have been better. Grade:4/5 Also I liked Francines Lyndie England refrence at the end, I thought that was pretty funny.

Good episode, though. 4/5

Only the sixth episode shown, and I'm already labeling this the quintessential American dad episode.

Excellent episode. Some great characters seen around the neighborhood. Saw the E.T reference coming when Roger donned the CIA sweatshirt, but I did enjoy that whole film noir segment that followed. Wonder what's going to happen to that poor electrical worker with a turd of gold?
4/5
Added a poll for shits and giggles.

This is the first episode I've watched since giving up on the show. I guess there is some improvement, and Stan's extreme paranoia made me laugh (at him, of course). Even though Stan was extremely exaggerated here than ever before, I didn't mind, because he got some sort of comeuppance at the end, and it was clear every other character thought he was being a complete fool. If Stan turns out to be a more Cartman-like character, a completely detestable character, who gets his comeuppance and is treated by everyone as a fool, I wouldn't mind this show (but I wouldn't want the show to focus constantly on Stan being an asshole any more than I'd want South Park to revolve entirely around Cartman). Also, the parody of countless bad film cliches in the middle was really great.
Still, it was still uneven humor-wise: I didn't find jokes like the Iranian woman shocking herself funny at all, and it was sort of a shallow one-joke episode (racial profiling is stupid...ok, then).

Damn, I really liked this ep. It seems very unnatural...but what can I say, it was a decent episode. Seeing Stan all fucked up towards the end made me very happy. That weirdo part with the golden turd was...really odd yet I still liked it. This show is scaring me.

Something tells me that the whole gold turd thing was a parody of some really obscure movie/tv show that only seth knows and it happened in like the 60s it almsot seemed hitchcock-ish like the gold was making him kill, but i loved how right after that it jsut came back to the story, excellent move

The turd thing made me think of the book "The Pearl" can anyone one back me up?
This is two in a row with racist remarks that made me laugh but I knew it wasn't right to laugh,"our last neighbors were black."
I like this show more the more I see it.

I was really liking the episode up until a point, when American Dad made the same exact mistake that Family Guy has been making recently: a really long joke with a really small payoff. The whole golden turd thing wasn't funny, and it just went on and on. I like jokes that are drawn out and long like that, but only when the payoff at the end is funny enough to make up for the two minutes wasted, or when the whole thing is at least moderately enjoyable.
Better than usual, still not the best. 3/5

Lots of fun. Family Guy beat it for the first time in weeks, but it was still solid. This show is really entertaining.

just thought i'd comment on the new american dad episode (2 days ago) on sunday ... there was another obscure scene with strange characters finding another one of roger's jewel encrusted golden wealth turds.
i noticed this thread hasnt been bumped since 2005, so if this subject already came up again elsewhere "sorry"
i just googled "gold turd", and discovered your wonderful site at the top of the results, lol
