It's finally airing! "Half-Decent Proposal" is airing tonight, and here's an episode description:

Jon Lovitz is a guest voice in a wild parody of the 1993 film “Indecent Proposal.” Lovitz plays Marge's one-time prom date Artie Ziff, a nerd who turned Marge off when he turned all-hands that night. Now, a techno- invention has made him rich. Encouraged by her sisters, and some girls-night imbibing, Marge e-mails Artie, who responds by helicoptering onto the Simpsons' lawn and inviting the family to his yacht. There, he makes his proposition: one million bucks to spend a weekend alone with Marge. And Artie promises “no funny stuff.” The Simpsons agree when they realize the money will help their marriage---by paying for an operation to cure Homer's snoring.

I've been waiting for this episode for a long time, looks great! Be sure to leave your reviews here once the episode airs. Until then, I'm just going to lock it.

A really good ep, Loved the ending, So much better than Jaws Wired Shut. Although sex was brought up like 20 times in this ep (I dont find sex jokes funny) the jokes were great! Loved it! Although the ending was a bit disturbing and Homer and Lenny run away together?
:( ... Other than that a B+/ a 4 out of 5!

A Long Synopsis, Short Review for "Half Decent Proposal" (DABF04) From TheAnswerMan

This episode starts off with many laughs that don't stop until the episode is over. After the camera passes over Comic Book Guy, we see that Homer has an obvious snoring problem. The writers must have knew that making Homer snore through his eyes were hilarious because
they included it in many more scenes. Because of Homer's snoring, Marge can't seem to ever get enough sleep and mistakenly feeds Bart a flower pot and Lisa a Time Magazine with the headline, "AOL RULES!" When Marge decides to take Homer's snoring problem to a doctor, we see
Dr. Hibbert & Riveria smashing down mailboxes. Unfortuantely the operation costs too much for Homer to afford so he makes a couter-offer of nothing and gets thrown out of Hibbert's office.

One of the best scenes is when Marge is so tired that she falls on the horn and says, "I'll get it." She opens the door and falls out of the moving car, leaving Bart steering and Milhouse and Lisa working the pedals. Of course, Milhouse makes his moves on Lisa, only to get rejected, once again. Marge goes over to her sister's house because she is unable to sleep next to Homer. The sisters have a girls-night out at their home and watch a spoof of "Sex in the City" entitled "Nookie in New York." After that, Kent Brockman is shown on TV speaking about the 5th richest man in the country, Artie Ziff.

Selma & Patty encourage Marge to write Artie Ziff congratulating him. Marge begins to dictate what she wants said in the e-mail, but Selma changes it to, "Dear hottie...I want to SEX YOU UP!...your love slave, Marge." The message goes through a beatup Cisco Systems internet router and lands in Artie's desktop computer. The camera zooms out and we see that Artie has been hopelessly obsessed over Marge for the last 20 years. [All this and it has only been the first scene]

Artie comes down on his helicopter and meets Marge. He says a funny line, "You can't spell "Party" without "Artie"....unless you mis-spelled "Party" or "Artie." He invites them on his yacht and Homer says, "You're the flame." Arite wonders what being Married to Marge would have been like. Homer responds that its like being married to his best friend who lets him feel his boobs. Artie offers Marge $1,000,000 for a weekend alone but she thinks it's sick and leaves with Homer, forgetting Bart and Lisa.

Marge thinks that she will be able to live with Homer's noises. After all, she had gotten used to saying Courtney Cox Arquette. But she doesn't hate all of Homer's sounds, like the Squeaking Spring Symphony. The BEST PART IMO is when they show Homer snoring while he is awake. They are in the middle of carrying on a conversation and Homer's eyes "ripple" as he tries to both cover his mouth and eyes to mask his snoring.

Marge decides that Homer needs to get the operation, so she agrees to Artie's request of a weekend alone and Homer sets up the guidelines such as no "Misdirected Woo." Artie says that he will leave Marge as untouched as Bill Gates' weightroom. As she leaves up into the sky in Artie's helicopter, the theme music from M*A*S*H plays.

At Ziff's mansion, Artie visits the "guest" mansion and picks up marge to go "Back in the future" to their High School Prom in the 70's. (Kirk and Louanne Van Houten can be seen dancing together)
At the bar, Lenny thinks that Marge will have a better life without Homer and Carl thinks that Homer will now have more crawling space on the bed. Homer thinks he is risking losing Marge, and travels
to Ziff's mansion to spy on the party. Homer meets Principal Dodenlinger, as a bouncer. He sees Marge kissing Artie and he is heart broken. Homer says, "If Marge marries Artie, I'll never be born." -Back to the Future ref.

When Marge returns home, she finds a tape on the bed. She plays the tape and sees Homer describing what he saw last night using two stuffed animals. He tells Marge that he is going to drop off the kids with Patty & Selma. Bart, who is the cameraman, says "Screw that!" Homer rushes at him and knocks himself on the camera. IMO this is the 2nd funniest sequence in the episode besides the snoring while Homer is awake.

Back at the bar, Moe says that if it makes you feel any better, "He's probably doing her right now." Homer decides that his life "here" is over, and leaves with Lenny into West Springfield. On the ride
to the west, we see Mount Carlson, which was constructed by Lenny.

Meanwhile, Marge, Lisa, and Bart are worried about where Homer is and map out all of Springfield. Since West Springfield is 3 times the size of Texas, they feel hopeless. However, Marge enlists the help of Artie Ziff and his helicopter to find Homer, who had taken a job at a dangerous oil rig.

Homer and Lenny accidently set a fireant on fire because of the sun's magnification of their safety goggles. The fireant spreads the fire to other ants and they all jump in the oil surrounding the rig
to cool down. Then all of a sudden the oil starts on fire and Homer is reluctant to climb the ladder up into the helicopter to safety. Artie says that he learned that he could not buy Marge's heart and
Homer immediately jumps up onto the helicopter. However, Lenny says that there is nothing on that helicopter for him, until he sees Carl Carlson!

Back on their front lawn, Homer thanks Artie for saving his life. Homer still wants the million dollars but Marge won't let him take it. However, Artie does create a new invention for Homer that will cure his chronic sleeping. The very last sequence shows Homer with a snoring device that will convert his loudness into music lyrics under Artie's voice. As Homer goes to sleep, the music plays, "he's
a loser Marge...dump him! I'm watching you through a camera!" - ABSOLUTLY HILARIOUS! A perfect way to end a terrific episode.

This episode had a solid plot, great amounts of laughs, and a superb ending.

BEST OF THE SEASON. A

"I traveled the world and the seven seas. I am watching you through a camera." Heh. Great guest star role. Jon Lovitz has never done a disappointing guest voice gig for The Simpsons, and tonight was no different. Very good episode. 4/5

I liked the animation. The color-shifting scenes in Patty's and Selma's apartment were very different for "The Simpsons" but in a good way. I kind of wonder about Lenny and Carl, now; I don't think they're gay, but they sure have a bizarre friendship, you have to admit.
It was pretty heartwarming, all in all, and had quite a few jokes that were silly in a less wacky way. The "Back to the Future" reference was perfectly set up and executed; probably the funniest joke of the episode. Good stuff. 4/5

The Best Episode of the Season. One of my new favorites. All 3 Acts fit together perfectly, and almost every joke hit the bull's eye (except a few of the sex ones). I wish Artie Ziff could become a regular, he is soooo funny. I give it an A+ 5/5

For a great change, this episode was very plot-driven, plus included lots of laughs. However, the oil rig stuff brought it down a bit. That stuff reminded me too much of Homer's behavior in "Kidney Trouble" and "Hello Gutter, hello Fadder". But I loved how it really got back to its roots in this episode, and the prom stuff was fantastic. Overall, possibly best of the season. Full review shortly.

PS: The directing did seem really different. The filming was kinda different and cool.

After the bomb that was Jaws Wired Shut, I was looking forward to this one. It was everything I expected. Homer's snoring was a riot. Jon Lovitz did an excellent job as Artie Ziff. Perfect plotline- humor, romance, etc. I loved the ending: "I am watching you through a camera." Homer on camera was hillarious- "I can't say it, so i'll use these puppets to demonstrate it." Solid A+

I thought it was very Good. I loved the plot and I love the way that the first act and the other acts went together instead of it being like two short episodes combined together. One of the best episodes of the season. Also I love the way they made the characters look at the prom especially Professor Frink and Willie.

Pretty good episode. Jon Lovitz is great as a cartoon character. The plot was good, in every act there were some funny moments. Lenny and Carl were funny as always. Bart said some pretty dumb quotes but I cracked up when he said:

With Patty and Selma? Screw that!.

I really liked this episode, as I thought I would. Most of the jokes were pretty good; I especially liked the "Nookie in New York" gag as well as Disco Stu's line and Homer at the end of the second act ("IF MARGE MARRIES ARTIE THEN I WON'T BE BORN!!!" or something like that, whatever it was it was funny). The storyline wasn't too bad either and seemed to flow nicely. Overall I'd say it's a solid A or a 4.5/5

A great episode except for some terrible and stupid innuendoes and a so-so characterization of Homer. It was full of excellent jokes ("The Sex and the City" parody, Sweet Dreams are made of these, "Unhitch the bras", Springfield Slow News Day, Homer snoring awake, The 70s versions of people, the whole Patty and Selma segment, the Marge cacti, the video, and Artie as the spier on the House of Moe), and the plotting was tight. Perhaps, though, it was a bit too tight and complex, with no room for character meditations and too many quick plot twists. The main problem with the episode, though, was Carl and Lenny being gay lovers. That was way out of context and not needed. Lately, the writers have been making way too many characters gay. Let us keep with Patty and Smithers, ok? As I said, earlier, the characterization of Homer was so-so, but it wasn't needed in the full scheme of the episode, which I thought would be a bit more thoughtful, but turned out well the way it is. I need a little thoughtful juice to fuel my head though and awaken my sensitivity sometime soon, absolutely. For now, though, deft joke-filled romps are okay.

This episode is the best of the season so far.
The plot was great, jokes flew like bullets out of a machine gun, and no messed up major show changes(ie: Lisa's Bhuddism, Skinner the Imposter). A+!!!

My top ten highlights(In no particular order):

1.)Artie's computer room
2.)AOL-TIMEWarner reference-"AOL Rules" on Time Mag.
3.)"I'm watching you thru a camera"
4.)Baron von Kissface[something like that]
5.)All the snoring sequences.
6.)"If Marge marries Artie, I'll never be born!"
7.)Homer: Lenny, will go with me to the outside of Springfield, and never return?"
Lenny: "OK!"(They run off)
Carl(entering room): What did I miss?
8.)Marge falling asleep at the wheel, honking the horn,"I'll get it!", falling out of the car!
9.)Wllie's afro and Skinner's Austin Powers type outfit from "Tale of Two Springfields"
10.)Hibbert and Dr. Nick smashing mailboxes

Holy Hannoken, man!

This episode was the best ep in YEARS! Nothing overly retarded, humor in just about everyline, refs to pop culture. Jeeze Lousie, this was GREAT. My personal favorite scenes included the "oil erupting scene after Artie puts the moves on Marge", "Homer and the funzo demo" and his reaction to Bart.

Also, did anyone read the bus? It was the "Suck-U-Bus Line"!

Grade: A+ ==> Best Episode in years. Better than Trilogy of Error and Insane Clown Poppy, BY FAR.

"Jaws Wired Shut" (minus the easily ignored Sex Jokes) was a tough act to follow. That episode has touching and funny moments tied together, and was a solid 5/5.

"Half-Decent Proposal" was a fairly good showing, too.

The whole episode flowed together wonderfully. Some sceens were a bit...odd. Homer snoring while awake and through his eyes, Marge's lack of sleep, the re-done Prom, and Mount Carlmore all seemed like something out of season 11. I did like the flashbacks to "The Way We Was" and the references to seasons past.

The first and last jokes were hilarious. The rest was...mellow, but thankfully storydiven.

I'll give this one a B-, 3/5. Hopefully it'll improve with a second viewing. :)

Hah... stop quoting that long.. thing, Answerman. ;)

Excellent, 5/5. Jon Lovitz should guest star more often. I laughed so many times during this.... Lenny's lines (especially in regards to Carl) had me in stitches. Great use of music throughout. There was a bit of wackyness in the 3rd act (ants on fire), but it didn't bring down the episode. Loved the 70's prom dance and the M*A*S*H reference... what was the Back to the Future one again?

LOL moment(s) of the episode: Lenny's Mount Carlmore and the opening scene with CBG

Actually liked the Simpsons better than Futurama and Malcolm tonight... yay.

I've watched it thrice through now. 5 is the number.
I've never seen such agreement here. It's quite refreshing.
My Top 3 Favorite Parts:
1) The whole Marge falls asleep, hits horn, falls out car and falls asleep rolling down the hill, Milhouse asking Lisa out and her saying its not a good time and him saying its never a good time.
2) Homer snoring awake.
3) Marge cooking breakfast the first time.

Man what a great episode!!! I give it 5/5. The whole episode actually stayed on course. Baron Von Kissalot had me laughing for about 5 minutes straight. I also thought the oil rigger men with hooks for extremities was hilarious. Marge falling asleep at the wheel and rolling out of the car and Marge making breakfast after a good night's sleep were outstanding. The music from the modem and snoring device were great. Past episode references were also great. Homer's bowling game of 300 and funzo to be exact. But what the hell is up with Lenny and Carl? Please! No more gay people. That's the only thing that almost destroyed the episode. Best of the season! It seems that episodes featuring Marge are the best ones of season 13. 5/5 5/5 5/5!

On another note, me and my friends were gambling on Friday, and I put on my season 13 tape to watch at the same time, and I didn't realize it until then that this season has actually been pretty decent! Especially compared to last season! I mean, there havn't been any total blunders yet this year. "Blunder YEars" came close, but didn't have the same disturbingly weird or bad stuff that season 12s first 10 episodes had. Like the "Prisoner" thing in "Computer Wore Menace Shoes", the stupid pranks and fish guts in "Homer vs Dignity", the bad endings in lots of episodes, trash like "Pokey Mom", etc. However, S12 did have a huge hit by this point ("HOMR"), so I'm conflicted. Still, this season has had some goods, very goods, and no terribles.

Smugness aside, I watched T.P.R. twice--the night it aired and a few weeks later. It was bad both times, so how many chances does one have to give something they don't like in some desperate attempt to find something funny?

About the Lenny/Carl Gay Lover idea:

Hasn't that been the joke all along? Lenny and Carl are just best friends who "like" eachother very much. They are simply friends of Homer's who are always together. But Carl has a wife, so it's it pretty aparent that they aren't lovers? They just like to be together. (Like how Ernie and Bert are shown on Seseme street [Not that I watch that show. ;)])

Aye Carumba!

After watching this one two times, I am blown away.

This episode was absolutely brilliant. The plot was touching, the pop culture references were great (particularly the Back to the Future and M.A.S.H. bits), and I was laughing throughout. Artie Ziff was great again, props to Jon Lovitz for another great performance, and CBG had me cracking up at the beginning. I also noticed, since I re-watched The Way We Was a few hours before this aired for reference, that the prom room was decorated exactly like it had been before. Homer was still a little on the overly dumb side, but just a little, he's definetely been improving. Overall I can't really put into words how much I liked this episode. Maybe not an all time great (though it could be), but its definetely one of the two best episodes of this season (I'm torn between this and She of Little Faith).

A good "A".

And the grades this season are:
Treehouse of Horror XII B
The Parent Rap B
Homer the Moe D-
Hunka Hunka Burns in Love B+
The Blunder Years B
She of Little Faith A
Brawl in the Family B+
Sweets and Sour Marge B+
Jaws Wired Shut B-
Half Decent Proposal A

So far this season has been going great, with only one blunder (and in my opinion, it actually wasn't The Blunder Years). This season has really been shaping up!

One thing I got to mention: Anyone notice Artie's ship was called "The PaZIFFic Prince", or something to that effect?

The Sweetling
02-10-2002, 07:47 PM
Two things:

1) Tonight's episode was very entertaing, as ALL the Simpson's Episodes are (except that crap with Homer joining the Naval Reserve, a new definition of crap, oh and that musical episode). Me and my roomate were laughing quite a bit, and I enjoyed the continutity.

I didn't really like the past references as they weren't really clever, but like most people here, Baron Von Kissalot was great, Marge making breakfast, great, and when Marge jumps outta the car, great (wow, two Marge things that stick in my mind). I also thought CGG was funny. I mean only him could like Jar Jar. And for the snoring, I've had many an ex-girlfriend tell me of my disgusting snoring habits and plug my nose, and/or close my mouth, which btw didn't lead to my snoring out of my eyeballs, which would've made my life rather interesting. I'm talking Ripley's Believe it or Not intersting. Oh, oh, and the Sex in the City spoof was so on that I had no CHOICE but to laugh, especially when Patty and Selma were saying that it reflected their lives. Oh man.

On the other hand, it got unfunny after awhile and I felt that there was probably more they could've done with the million-dollar wife thing. Lenny and Karl, I'm sorry, was funny. I don't mind sex or gay jokes and I don't think that Lenny and Karl are gay (Karl is married, no?). Maybe Lenny just really loves Karl, as we all do.

2) The Parent Rap; since we're also discussing this episode, real quick, I'll give it a thumbs up or down. And the verdict is THUMBS UP! I don't know why everybody hates this episode. I missed it when it was first on and I had to download it, but I've watched it more than twice and see nothing wrong with it. Flanders dancing out of his pants? If you don't find that funny then you need to reevaluate why you laugh at anything at all.

So, in conclusion:

Tonights episode 4/5
Parent Rap 4/5

and if you don't like it, tough tamale, the Sweetling has spoken.

I don't think so. It was a great episode! Two more things I noticed is that Artie broke the left strap to Marge's dress just like the first time, and Ned was at the prom recreation. I do sometimes, but only if they're done right, and many aren't done right (I mean in general, not neccasarily on the show). Mainly, I think many of us must prefer the more intelligent humor the show has to offer.

I guess because most of us here arent 13 year old boys who laugh at anything with the word 'penis' in it. A funny joke is a funny joke, if a sex joke is funny then good, but most of them are stupid, either just for shock value or to appeal to the South Park crowd. I dont think anyone here is a square, some people just prefer clever humour (what the Simpsons was all about) over toilet humour.

I don't think honestly that everybody is a square here (I'm sure you're warm and generous people), but it's just that anytime the word sex is mentioned in a Simpsons episode (okay 10 times tonight) nobody likes it and has to say they didn't like it. Look back on many episodes in the past DECADE and you'll see this season is not the first to bring it up.

Tonights episode of the simpsons was hands down the best of the season! It was way too funny! and i dont really understand why people are bickering about the sex jokes! there wasnt all that many (Yeah, shes like a good friend! One that lets me touch her boobs!) i thought that was hilarious line. Homer's tape was funny too when he ran into the camera and then u see him choking bart (CLASSIC!) the show is definitly back boys!

my reviews thus far after multiple viewings:

s13e01-treehouse of horror xii (8.5/10) BEST THOH IN AWHILE!
s13e02-the parent rap (9.0/10) AHHH! COBRAS! HILARIOUS!
s13e03-homer the moe (6.2/10) WORST OF THE SEASON! BUT NOT TOO BAD!
s13e04-a hunka, hunka burns in love (8.8/10) SOLID EPISODE!
s13e05-the blunder years (7.0/10) IT GETS BETTER AFTER MULTIPLE VIEWINGS!
s13e06-she of little faith (9.2/10) GREAT LISA EPISODE!
s13e07-brawl in the family (8.6/10) SOLID EPISODE!
s13e08-sweets and sour marge (9.0/10) BEST MARGE EPISODE IN AWHILE
s13e09-jaws wired shut (8.0/10) GOOD EPISODE! LOTS O' SEX JOKES!
s13e10-half decent proposal (9.5/10) BEST EP OF SEASON!

some people here might say i rate to high, but after many viewings im enjoying this season! it rox! not even homer the moe can bring me down! i mean homer shooting moe was pretty funny!

A half-decent episode in my opinion. (Which makes it one of the best of this season) I thought the chalkboard gag was great. I liked the first act the best with the 'Sex and the city' send up. Hilarious when the waiter was laughing.

The second act stayed strong with some good jokes such as: "Your wife will remain untouched as Bill Gates's weight room." and "Misdirected Woo"

The third act got a little out of hand when we we had yet another suicidal Homer. I also found it hard to swallow that Homer wouldn't even talk to Marge before leaving the family but if thats the biggest problem with the episode then I'm happy enough. Especially this season.

That was the funniest episode in years, hands down. And when Marge fell asleep on the horn, I nearly wet myself. (Sorry to mention a bodily function; I am sure that is too close to sex for some of you.)

Good grief, people. What is the hangup about sex? If anything remotely aproaches an adult topic, half of you guys start crying. If you want to go to church, go. If you want to watch the Simpsons, stop your inane whining about humor meant for people over the age of 6. And stop preaching to the rest of us. I will happily burn in HELL with Homer and the gang. The Simpsons has never been a kids show, so why are you bitching now?

And for the Simpson snobs (like the above, "I haven't liked an episode since..."), give me a break. I have been with them from the beginning, too, and you aren't proving how cool you are by saying everything new sucks. It is just like when Conan left and everyone tried to prove how in the know they were by saying the 'new' Simpsons suck now. Right. What a bunch of losers.

I'll get off my soapbox now, go ahead and start typing your responses. I only joined this to vote for this episode--it was that good--so I will never hear your whining anyway. But I'll pray for all of you sinners out there with a sense of humor.

Okay be a blind suck-up. If you think that this season is as good as anything from the mid-ninties then you're only fooling yourself. Just read my quote. Even the actors and writers know there is a problem. Why do you think Mike Scully was fired. And as for the sex jokes we realize that the show is intended for people over six which is why we question toilet humor. You see usually older audiences are a little more enlightened and their sense of humor goes a little beyond "It's like being married to my best friend, only she lets me touch her boobs." If how much sex humor a show has is what determines what age group it targets then is South Park the most sophisticated adult show on television? You tell me asshole.

This was a great plot driven episode. The funniest part was when Homer was taping his message to Marge and Bart objected, making Homer crash into the camera in a rage, and choke Bart while crying. Anytime Homer chokes Bart, it's sure to make me laugh.

There were a lot of sex jokes, but it was inevitable in a plot based on marital stuff. I'm pretty sure Lenny and Carl aren't gay, because Carl once mentioned having a wife. The whole episode was great, but I also liked "Jaws Wired Shut", and every other episode this season.

My review: Great to see Lovitz return to the set as Artie Ziff. This and next week's episode have sounded great to me and I'm sure next week's episode will be just as good. Artie didn't get weird, like old resurrected characters have done recently. The plot was really good and I was pleased with how it turned out. Great laughs and great Simpsons.

Great episode, the return of Artie Ziff was well done. There were numerous jokes throughout the episode with the most memorable being Homer's "But if Marge marries Artie, I'll never be born" line. There was one thing that I wish they would have added to the episode. It would have been hilarious if Barney streaked across the room again just like at their original prom. But overall a great episode and probably the best of Season 13. 4.5/5

For now, though, deft joke-filled romps are okay.

not to start an entirely new topic or anything but I dont think Lenny and Carl were gay. They're just really really good friends and cant live without eachother. Also Patty isnt gay, In "Black Widower" she tells Selma that Macguyver was wearing a tanktop and she started trembling in a horny kind of way. So, thw writers arent making to many gays because the only gay person we know of so far (unless you like to pretend that Patty is gay) is Smithers.

It dictated his dependance on Marge in a both obvious and subtle fashion, and his care for the well-being of his family. "I am watching you through a camera......"

I was laughing my ass off the entire night at these sitcoms, but I'd definitely say that The Simpsons was the best of the evening. In fact, that was the best episode of the season. Nonstop laugter throughout.

Anyway, here's my last night television watching...

6:00- The Simpsons ("Wizard of Evergreen Terrace")
6:30- King of the Hill ("Jumpin' Crack Bass", the one where Hank buys the crack that he thinks is fish bait.)
7:00-9:00- The Normal two hours of FOX shows
9:00-Cheers
9:30-10:30-The Critic

Never have I laughed so much in one night.

As for my usual comparing of Season 13 to 12, there is no longer any point. The next few S12 epsiodes are crap like New Kids on the Blecch and the season is already trailing 13 by quite a bit. It's safe to say that Season 13 is better than Season 11 and 12.

This episode was non stop laughs. And those are the reason why. The wittiness of Al Jean was revealed completely in this episode. There was hardly a flaw in the plot from this specific episode. This is hands down IMO the best episode in quite a while. I don't want to compare this to the early seasons. In fact I don't want to compare any seasons. Each season is funny in its own way. But in any case, Top 10 ep. 10/10 A+

I don't think that you rank too high. Here are my rankings.

THOH 12 A 9/10
Parent Rap B 7/10
Homer the Moe B- 6.5/10
Hunka Hunka... A- 8.5/10
Blunder Years A- 8.5/10
She Little of Faith A 9.5/10
Brawl in the Family B- 6/10
Sweets and Sour Marge A- 8/10
Jaws Wired Shut B+ 7.5/10
Half Decent Proposal A+ 10/10

I also don't see the problem with sex jokes. I agree that that is not the humor that was intended for the show but it is not a high society show. But let the fool have his poison. Or maybe one mans treasure is anothr mans trash.

I loved the fact that Funzo was one of Homer's puppets.

I, too, loved the Back To The Future and M*A*S*H* references.

However, I think the Lenny/Carl thing is supposed to be less of them being "gay" and more of it just being plain out funny that they're soulmates. I mean, seriously... how many times during the Simpsons do you not see them hanging out together?

He's done two - one for 11 and 12, and he's building 13.

Tomacco, a bit of a blooper - Funzo was introduced in BABF07. That's okay, I still think it looks cool. The instant I see a new episode I always wonder what your Episode Bio will be on the page.

Thanks for pointing out my bloopers! The "Prince" part of the name on Artie's boat looked too fuzzy on my screen to see. I rewinded it and watched it 15 times, and still got it wrong. O well, I'm changing it.

He uses Paint, actually, except for the episode bio pictures and pictures for double pagers - those he does in Photoshop. He told me.

And, jesus plays his hits, it isn't THAT bad. I mean, c'mon, the fact that Tomacco builds these things at all is pretty impressive.(BTW, I said your username is arbitrary because you refer to yourself as Jesus, yet you swear and put others down.) Personally, I've printed out all Tomacco's pages and used them as my own sequels to the books. I wouldn't be surprised if the people who put together the real books asked him if they could use his designs.

hey tomacco, just a thought but i noticed that u only have 2 double page eps and i thought of a way to balance em out:

treehouse of horror xii (double page) u did this already! :)
the parent rap (double page) done again!
homer the moe (single) done
a hunka hunka burns in love (single) done
the blunder years (single) done
she of little faith (single) done
brawl in the family (THIS should be double page)
sweets and sour marge (single) done but change the character profile to opposite side
jaws wired shut (single) done but profile on opposite side again
half decent proposal (THIS should be double page)
bart wants what it wants (SHOULD be a double page)

POSSIBLE OBSERVATIONS!
if the episode DABF09 "The Old Man And The Key" airs after "The Latest Gun In The West" then these two eps can be both single pages and if episode DABF08 "Tales From the Public Domain" airs afterwards then this can be Double page as it has 3 different tales like CABF17 and the THOH eps *whew!* just my opinion

I like this episode. It was prolly one of the best of this season. The storyline was actually good. Nice to bring Artie back to tie stuff in from the past again.

The last scene when Homer had that snoremask thing on that Artie created was probably the least humorous in the whole episode, but everything else was pretty good.

His drawing is very smooth, it just uses thick lines. That, and he captures expression incredibly well. Jonah's work is well-designed and well-layed out. The reason it doesn't quite have the professional glow of the guides is that it's not printed by a huge printing company.

I think that was the best episode so far. It had a lot of things that I like in it. Movie references (Homer getting confused about the concept in Back to the Future, and the MASH reference as well). The appearance of the Sea Captain and Homer's quote about money at the end added a lot to the episode. I also liked Homer's video and how he choked Bart after he said how he felt about having to go over to Patty and Selma's. I also like the "Sex and the City" parody since I don't like Sarah Jessica Parker (I think she's ugly, irritating, and her voice gets on my nerves, and frankly I don't see what anyone sees in her). Also, the Baron's family portraits were a nice touch, and they need more stuff like that in the background. I'd give it a 4/5 and this episode gives me a lot of hope that the Simpsons might start getting better.
