for some reason having an extra thread for australians was deemed a waste of precious space by a moderator on long time web buddy eric wirtanen's domain.

closing the aussie thread in general discussion is fair enough even though the thread was closed just five posts after i discussed simpsons scheduling. but closing down the replacement thread was a pointless power-driven exercise. how did it take exactly one year to deem the thread inappropriate. simple. it wasn't hurting anybody.

you dont know you've deprived at least 20 regulars of something that kept them coming back to this board. we now have nowhere to talk and i have very little reason to come back to a forum that my website is affiliated with.

give us the decency of a thread in off topic. if possible, move and rename the entire thread from general discussion (assuming you wont close our off topic thread because it might venture into simpsons discussion, god forbid)

and i dont know either of the moderators (morbo, skittlebrau) in question, but if the closing of those threads was some kind of personal vendetta against one of the members, or if it was something stupid like post counts or that it was closed because it was the most posted to thread on the board and they weren't a part of it, maybe they should drop the childish games. perhaps they should just let nohomers.net do what it was made for and let people post messages on a message board.

and yes i'm aware it was closed because it was more off topic than simpsons based, but the fact that it lasted 355 days and received one complaint in that entire period (the closing message, no less) meant it wasn't hurting anybody. the minute a similar thread is posted to in off topic, it's closed because they dont want to see a regular thread that they'll never visit. we can't win.

You know, they have these things called internet chat rooms nowadays that let you talk about anything you like with whoever and however many people you like. The best part being that no-one can shut you down, for whatever reason. And I don't understand how chatting on AIM is a "completely different concept" to frequently posting messages about random topics in a thread intended for a select group of people who share similar interests. There was no big conspiracy, or alterior motive, or personal vendette behind it GEEZ you all think very highly of yourselves.

The thread was off topic, insanely off topic. Someone mentioned it to me an I went and read the last few pages. I knew nothing of how long it was active, or who was a regular in it, or how many posts any one person had in it... all I saw was a very off topic thread and I closed it. Granted, I could have posted a warning to get back on topic of the Simpsons, but I probably would have had to close it anyway because no one would have listened because you apparently don't want a thread to discuss the Australian Episodes, you just want an Aussie-Only type thread.

Morbo's right, it shouldn't really be exclusively Aussie, yet, in the last thread in General Discussion it was no different. Wezzo and Strong Sad and numerous others posted regularly without protest. It was just no one else was really interested in the thread.

In short, anyone who wants to join the discussion is welcome and wouldn't be subjected to discrimination, just like in the previous thread.

Morbo, whatever PM's you got were probably undeserved but try understand our frustration. We had a thread for nearly a year with no problems which is closed out of the blue (for a justifable reason). So we do as you say and restart it again in off topic only to have that thread closed almost immediately after. Anybody, including myself, would think the mods were discriminating against aussies for no good reason, especially considering that an american election thread was allowed. But we have our thread now so that's all in the past. But if you even think about taking a dump in our parliament, killing the queen or killing the prime minister, so help me god, I will give you... the biggest damn medal you ever saw!

for the record, i don't have a vendetta against any down under member or anything of the sort either. i like paul hogan, that battery dude that went "OY!" and monterey jack from rescue rangers. i just felt the aussies don't deserve their own elitist thread because that would spawn several other countries to do the same in some form of lame protest and might spawn WWIII on a cartoon internet messageboard. every other country posts in the official nhc lounge freely, so i figured aussies could do the same.

i got a pm from a fellow aussie stating something like "we live so far away and are isolated from the rest of the world so we need our own thread to talk to other aussies". how is it that a man like me can live in the state of arizona about 60 miles from the mexican border in the middle of a desolate desert and converse with people from canada, the uk, australia, germany, new zealand, other fellow americans scattered about...and maybe a few other locations i'm forgetting? and it can all be done in the nhc lounge too! (although i opt to keep it AIM or PMs since i think the lounge and the two previous threads that spawned it are/were a rather silly idea anyway.)

here's the conclusion to my story. i guess you should know that i work with this girl.

8 months ago she started seeing someone from work who was having troubles with his wife. i knew the two had a friendship but i didn't know if it went any further than that, and frankly i didn't care.

3 months ago she started being friendly with me. she liked me, wanted more than a friendship but we finally settled on a "fun" relationship. meanwhile this married guy was catching on to our fun and looking a little jealous. she told me he was just annoyed because he wanted her but she told him no, because he's married.

I saw the All Blacks coaches yesterday.

I was in a commentary box at a club rugby game (my dad reports on rugby for a local station called Newstalk ZB) and they walked up the stairs and sat down maybe 10 metres from us. I was going to go out and speak to them and tell them to drop Spencer and bring back Mehrtens but figured that I didn't want Sir Brian Lochore punching me.

Not in the slightest, well at least I didn't think so.
I found I, Robot hilarious, its a very funny movie.
Hilarious? It's not a comedy, it's science fiction. I don't know how anybody would find it funny unless they didn't understand what was going on, or convinced themselves that it was suppose to be like Men in Black.

As for Hellboy, it's a good movie also. Not as good as I was expecting, but then again maybe I should have watched it before I watched I, Robot. It set a pretty high standard. I did, however, enjoy David Hyde Pierce as Abe Sapian, and Ron Perlman was perfect as Hellboy.

I Robot, I saw the preview when it stood still then grabbed a gun and shot at the people. I think when stuff jumps out its scary, because its so sudden and the robots have this human appearance to them as well as being creepy because they are mechanical at the same time.

So who has digital I am getting after 4 months of waiting next month, and I hear its ok, if you ask me we shouldnt have to pay for the box office stuff... They even sent out letters telling us not to ring them to complain. If they spent half their energy into installing it than they do advertising it and sending out letters it would be done. We should get some free movies for having to wait so long. How much per movie?

Perhaps I should have said Ron Perlman was perfect to play Hellboy, he is one ugly man. I enjoyed the movies I saw, I've even watched I, Robot again. If I can get the DVD back, and find some spare time, I might get to see Spiderman 2.

It didn't shoot at anybody in that scene. I suppose some scenes are designed to get your heart racing and if that's what you mean by scary, then there are a few scary parts. But it's not like it's a horror movie.
