Welcome incoming students!

Congratulations on your acceptance to Springfield University! Your application has been reviewed and you have been admitted to the University as a Member for tuition purposes. You have chosen to major in Trivia and you intend on pursuing a Bachelor in Nerdification.

Please take the time to review this form carefully.

I. What is this place?

Springfield University (formerly known as Trivia Time) is a forum for the purpose of playing trivia. If you are unsure of what constitutes as trivia, please review the next section. You may create your own threads or join threads already progress. There aren't any structural rules for posting a trivia thread-- that is left to the discretion of the thread starter.

This is strictly a forum for testing trivia knowledge. You'll also have to come up with something better than "What is Homer's middle name?" Trust me, our students are top notch. We expect all students to uphold the honor system and treat each other with respect. We desperately need to be granted accreditation.

II. What exactly is "trivia," then?

Please note that there is, indeed, a difference between trivia and needing an answer to question.

Trivia is meant for testing each other's overall knowledge of The Simpsons with quizzes involving obscure facts/unimportant or general information/trivial matters from the show. Generally, when you ask a trivia question, you should already know the correct answer to your question (otherwise you won't be able to judge an answer as correct or not, naturally). It should be fun, although certain types of "fun" threads may not be posted here (see Section IV for more details).

III. What should I NOT post here, then?

If there is a question about OFF that you want answered because you actually don't know the answer (whether you never knew it at all or you just forgot), it is not considered trivia and should not be asked here.

Such questions should be posted in the Simpsons Q&A (Jokes We Don't Get, Which Episode, etc.) (http://www.nohomers.net/showthread.php?t=41810) thread in the General Discussion (http://www.nohomers.net/forumdisplay.php?f=2) forum.

The Simpsons Q&A thread covers this material:

- If you don't understand a joke in an episode, ask here.
- If you're unsure which episode a certain event happened in, ask here.
- If you don't remember who said a specific quote, ask here.
- If you have any question related to the Simpsons series similar to these, ask here.
Be sure to run your question through the above criteria so you can be sure of the forum and thread you should ask it in.

IV. What else doesn't belong here?

It should also be noted that while this forum is meant to be fun, it is not meant for mindless recreational games. These are threads such as 'Simpsons Name Game,' 'Simpsons Character/Episode Elimination,' and 'Simpsons Alphabet Game,' to name a few. These don't quite count as playing trivia.

If you would like to play such games, you may do so in the Noiseland Arcade (http://www.nohomers.net/forumdisplay.php?forumid=25) forum.

V. Anything else, you windbag?

Once in awhile, you may come across something known as Play For Points (PFP). The idea is, as the name says, to play for points by answering trivia. For every trivia question you answer correctly, you will earn points and it will be tallied at the end of a trivia session. As with regular trivia threads, the rules for PFP trivia threads are left to the discretion of the thread starter.

You have just taken an exciting step in achieving your nerdy message board goals! We look forward to working with you blah blah blah and making your dreams rabble rabble rabble...and above all else...

Enjoy!

It's probably not a good idea to use the word "game" in the title of any thread you post.
