Ahh, there are so many of these, I thought I'd add this. By CD, I mean any type of CD. The original music CD, the DVD, or a video game.

For me, the answer is: The Simpsons Complete First Season. The Day before I bought the Barenaked Ladies' Stunt.

"Don't Look Back" was made by the legendary documentary-maker D.A. Pennebaker (who also made the breakthrough documentary on the road with Bill Clinton on the 1992 campaign trail). It would become legendary and set the standard for all behind the tour "band" movies ("Meeting People is Easy", "Bittersweet Motel", etc...). He followed Dylan around England while he was still basically underground in 1964 on a 8 city tour of England. The entire movie also shows his competition, known as Donovan. Donovan at the time was considered "more" genius than Dylan and was "Expected" to be what Dylan can be considered in the year 2004. It is an intimate portrait of 2 struggling artists during a few weeks, both on the crest of celebrity status right before the wave broke and they both blew up in the mid-60s... (even though, in 1964, as I said, Donovan had already obtained more success than Dylan). The movie doesn't focus on Donovan, but he makes several appearences and sings 2 songs during the movie. His interaction with Dylan is amazing, and it is special, b/c they share something that no one can understand (being about-to-be-famous). They both have real "Kurt Cobain" attitudes (ala KC '91) towards their situtions, completely making fun of reporters and just thinking the whole scene is pathetic and a joke.

The funny thing is, that when they are all getting drunk at night playing songs solo on guitar, more people clap after Donovan than Dylan. You might detect a hint of jealousy from Dylan, but you might not.

I know you respect Dylan, so it won't be painful to get through. But in all seriousness, the film should be viewed if only for what it did to the medium of tour documentarys... Plus, with all the "Ga Ga" over Dylan and the "god-like" status he has acheived (and rightly so), it is refreshing to see Dylan as just a human being, toned down a few notches...

EDIT: and throw in an appearence by Allen Ginsberg and you have jizzfest '04...

Jadakiss- Kiss Tha Game Goodbye
Great album, but does have a few weak moments, such as the Snoop Dogg collabo "Cruisin'". Killer beats, laced with nice guest appearances and of course Jada's ill lyrics. 9/10

Diplomats- Diplomatic Immunity
Cam'ron is one of my favorite artists, as is the rest of the Roc. This is all in all a good album, but I gotta say it samples extremely to much. I like songs that sample, but this just over does it. Some weak points, but also some very catchy songs. "Dipset Anthem" and "I Really Mean It" shine on this. Just Blaze, Kanye, and others produced the album nicely. Minus all the samples, a pretty sweet album. 8/10

It's follows the same vien as the last two albums and Dr. Frank's solo stuff. So basically it all comes down to weather or not you like the Elvis Costello style pop turn they've taken. Lyiricly i think it's their best, but if you only know them from albums like Love Is Dead and Revenge Is Sweet... then this one will probably put you to sleep.

Dilated Peoples- Expansion Team

Okay, first off I bought this from Sam Goodys for only $2, so how could I pass that up. Back in 2001 when the album was released, I grew very fond of the single "Worse Comes to Worse". After 2 years now, I finally bought it. I must say, this album isnt just good- it is great. Any rap/hip hop fans must buy this album. Dilated Peoples has quickly become one of my favorite groups now, with their similar style to that of Jurassic 5. Everything from the banging beats, to the originality of the sound, and the finally some of the best rapping I have heard in a long time, this album is definitley worth your money. Whether or not you got it as cheap as I did.

Mmmmm.... warm layers of euphoric guitar drone. Confusing and delirious. It's difficult at points though, almost comes unseamed in the dense To Here Knows When. The emotional noise that make the album so punch-drunk beautiful almost drowns itself.

Please make fun of me for this: Part of the reason I held off on buying this album for so long is because I was uneasy about owning something with a song called "Tractor Rape Chain." Everytime I thought of that title horrible things popped into my head. But I finally came to my senses and said to myself, "It's just a song, you idiot boy." And it's a beautiful song indeed...indeed.

And it's a beautiful song indeed...indeed.

So which album do I gun for next?

you faggot. that's one of my favorite songs. you faggot.

Awesome, awesome album. Premier delivers unbelievable beats while Guru laces each track with beautifully written lyrics. 10/10

The first Run DMC album that broke the barrier into modern hip hop in my opinion. Still a good ablum, touching up with old school hip hop beats but harder lyrics. Got it for $3 anyway. 7/10

Even though it has a few weak beats, it is balanced out with some select beats that are incredible, including two that are produced by Premier. Each of the 5 members are great rappers, can carry a tune, and have perfect breath control. A good album all around, but dont expect a masterpiece. 7/10
