you know what to do
IMO, Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious is clearly the worst of season 8, with a stupid parody, silly, annoying songs, only funny bit was Shary Bobbins dying at the end of the episode.
Not a very good episode, much like All Singing, All Dancing

Very stupid and crazy but for some reason I still enjoy it, The story basically goes nowhere but the songs were just hilarious. A-.

Loved it. Fantastic parody of a fantastic movie, nicely done with tongue firmly in cheek. The producers didn't even need Julie Andrews here, as Maggie Roswell took to the role brilliantly and has a lovely singing voice. I quite liked the references to Victorian England in the actions and dialog of the minor characters, but the best part of the episode is quite obviously the songs, all ripped off hilariously, and you know what ones are being imitated.

It's a funny enough Mary Poppins parody, with some nice musical numbers ripped from said movie. And even the ending with Bobbins being torn apart in the jet doesn't bother me, and is actually quite funny in a dark way. But the characterizations of the family were quite shoddy. Particularly Bart and Lisa when they become great kids with Shary Bobbins, and later lousy kids for no real reason. It's funny, yes, but I just can't label an episode a classic with characterizations this bad.

As far as wacky gag style episodes go, this one pleases. Shary Bobbins is admittedly nothing more than a thin Mary Poppins knockoff and a one time gimmick character. But, like many other season eight outings, the gimmick works well here. There are plenty of hilarious moments, most occurring in the first act and some very nice song parodies too. The notion of Marge losing her hair due to stress is handled well but pretty much forgotten once Shary Bobbins arrives. The laughs become less frequent as the episode progresses and by the third act the story has nothing to do but repeat itself which brings it down a little. Still, a solid gag episode.
Grade: B+
Meh, it was good the first time I watched it, but it really doesn't hold up to repeat viewings :(
3.3/5
Excellent! It gets a 5+/5 for me, but I´m gonna rate it with a 1/5, just to see how does Wezzo react. ;)

Well, this was another one of those episode that just didn't seem Simpsons. I understand the entire episode was a parody, but some things are too extreme to overlook. Bart and Lisa being nice and then changing all of a sudden, as Channel Surfer said, is one of the more prominent examples. Perhaps, they tried to follow the movie a bit too closely. This is a 2-hour movie trying to be squeezed into a 30 minute show. Things flowed much better in the movie, as they should when you have much more time to actually connect two parts together. The episode felt a bit all over the place for this reason. It was a fine attempt at a parody, and I applaud their efforts, but there was a bit too much to try to copy in this one. B-

A+++. Did you even have to ask :)
4/5. It was a good Mary Poppins parody, obviously, with some great musical numbers and gags. But the 3rd act wasn't as funny, so that brought it down a point.

Sorry to disagree, but it is harly the greatest parody of all time (for the Simpsons), a great parody has to be clever. This wasn't really clever, they just substituted the characters.

Was originally a C+, but due to Wezzo's enlightenment, I've upped to a B-! Well, it was a good parody of the movie (and I pretty much don't like the movie, btw!) It featured some nice one liners incl the K-K-K one, Maniac, most of the songs, and the Itchy and Scratchy cartoon. However, characterisation was way off, the 3rd act could have been a lot better, animation was kinda poor for that season, and the whole episode just seemed a bit too wacky, especially for S8. Not the worst by a longshot though! B-

Its an alright "music episode" but I dont particulary like any of the music ones. The final song is the best of them and Bart with the pepper gave me the biggest laugh.
C+ Possibly the worst of the awesome 8th season

Al Jean's 210th Disney-ripoff is a complete disaster. It has no jokes, is very crazy and definitely the worst of S8. C-
2/5. I have to give it some credit, for the song about Barney was pretty funny. But other than that this episode annoys me.

the gag of killing her at the end was kinda dark for a jean episode (though with reiss). 4/5
When I saw this episode for the first time I was like: 'Dear Lord! What the hell was that?'. But after rewatches, I now understand some misunderstood aspects from the first view and like it, a lot. First, there were some funny moments ("Reservoir Cats", Marge imagining herself being bald... aaand that unforgettable line: "So long, Superman!") and the episode itself had many many musical culture references that i learned more about. I guess Al Jean learned a lot of tricks on cultural references from his experiences from the show 'The Critic'--I mean, some references made in the episode could've fit right into the episodes of 'The Critic' well. I always felt that the plot was very predictable, but after learning more about 'Mary Poppins' movie, I gave it a break. The best part of the episode is the ending, because we are reminded on just what kind of family 'The Simpsons' are and the ways of the family are unbreakable. I guess Sharry died in the very end though, very shocking, yet dark-humored and cynical ending--dunno what to say about it though. Oh, and the songs were great. Maggie Roswell's finest performance. The episode appeals to me a very different way than how the other one of my favorite ones do A-

The half assed job song gets me every time. I like this one for some reason, and i hate musicals usually. I guess i remember Mary Poppins from when i was a kid and this episode brings back memories. Or maybe im just a moron. Who knows? Anyways this is one of my favorites from season 8. 5/5

This is my favorite episode of all time. The songs were excellent, the parodies perfect, and it contained the best Itchy & Scratchy because I hate Quentin Tarantino ( love his movies, but can't stand the person and his misshapen Frankenstein head). I give this one 5 ugliest man in Glasgow out of five.

This a great episode with plenty of laughs, good writing, clever songs and great characterization. The montage with Marge losing her blue hair with the song "Hair" is hilarious, as is Groundskeepers Willie singing a cover version of Michael Sembello's Maniac. I also love the Itchy and Scratchy cartoon 'Reservoir Cats' and Homer's belief that all the nanny candidates are men in drag. I love the Boozehound Named Barney song and the babysitter song Bart and Lisa sing to Homer and Marge.

It's gotta be a testament to the brilliance of the writing, the ubiquity of Mary Poppins in our cultural landscape, or both, that I can enjoy this episode immensely without ever seeing the movie upon which it's based. I've always thought of season eight as pretty hit-or-miss (with the great episodes slightly outweighing the mediocre ones), so maybe it shouldn't surprise me that one of my favorites of the season comes from Jean and Reiss.
First of all, the songs are catchy. (I mean, as I type this ever-so-wordy review, I've got "Minimum Wage Nanny" running through my head.) Even if, like me, you've never seen Mary Poppins, if you have a vague notion of its concept and some idea of the music, you can enjoy these parodies both in the spirit in which they were intended, and as separate entities unto themselves. I'm a sucker for musicals, and I've always enjoyed those episodes that try to imitate the form.
There are also some really strong jokes here, both observational (Marge getting milk for Bart, asking if anyone wants anything else before sitting back down, then being bombarded with requests once she hits the couch) and plain ol' slapstick (Sherry Bobbins' death made me laugh out loud during this rewatch, even though I obviously knew it was coming). Maggie Roswell did an excellent job (my dad actually overheard me watching the episode and asked if I was watching "some old-timey musical"; I suppose that speaks to how pitch-perfect her singing is).
The only thing that bothers me, really, is the third act. Maybe it's because I haven't seen the movie, and so in a sense I'm ignorant (well, more ignorant than usual), but it just feels inorganic for the family to not have learned anything from Sherry Bobbins, even though act two goes a long way towards trying to show us that she's a positive influence. I mean, considering who the Simpsons are, it makes sense that they'd revert back to their old ways once Sherry leaves--and I love that they're happy with their lives as they are--but it still seems counterproductive, in a way. (Although I guess that's sort of the point.)
Also, there are quite a few movie and TV parodies in this episode. That's not a criticism so much as a statement of fact; I seem to recall Mike Reiss saying that the episodes he and Al Jean produced after season four kind of contained a lot of jokes that they never got to do on The Critic. You definitely get that sense with this episode, though the references never feel forced or anything--there are just a whole lot of 'em is all.
Anyway, this is a classic episode, and one of my favorites of the later Golden Age (or whatever you want to call it). I give it a 4/5.

This episode has a great story line and the writting is perfect, the musical scenes are hilarious too and the whole episode is taken from the movie Mary Poppins,my favourite part would be at the end of the episode where Sherry Bobbin's get's sucked into a jet engine and dies, this episode deserves a 10/10.
